The Highway Surveys Program A Summary Statement Fiscal 1977-1978, HR-198, 1978

This final report summarizes the activities of the archaeological surveys contract for primary roads, secondary roads, and urban systems. The contract is negotiated annually between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the University of Iowa. The information contained in this section of the report is composed of summaries abstracted from completed cultural resource reports on file with the Department of Transportation, the Office of Historic Preservation, and the Office of the State Archaeologist.

Intercity Passenger Carrier Improvement Study, Final Report, 1977

The goal of this research was to recommend specific changes relating to service by intercity buses and third level air carriers to propose an appropriate state role in the implementation of changes. Changes contemplated in this research were to be directed to the increased use of intercity buses and third level air carriers in such manner as to exert a benefit to user as well as the general public. Specific objectives of the project included: (1) to analyze the potential for a system of express intercity bus routes in Iowa; (2) to estimate the demand for third level air carrier services in cities having populations under 50,000; (3) to forecast the relationship between economic costs and benefits from an intercity bus system emphasizing express routes between major population centers and supporting a subsystem of local and intraregional public transportation; (4) to estimate the economic feasibility of expanded third level air carrier service with emphasis upon those routes proposed as worth of further evaluation; and (5) to provide guidance for establishing the need for state and local subsidies to institute a system of express intercity buses and to expand third level air carrier services. In addition to passenger movements, enhancing package freight shipments was also to be considered in the evaluation of proposed improvements.

Le spectacle de ma misère manquerait apparemment aux joies de votre fortune!..." Elude la question des dettes de son fils Pierre : "Quant à la dette de Pierre, permettez-moi de vous répéter une fois de plus qu'elle ne me regarde pas. Comment ne lui avez-vous pas donné un travail qui vous eut amplement remboursé?". - 14 juillet 1899. Influència dels usos del sòl en l’evolució de la dinàmica hidrològica d’una conca. Estudi de cas a l’Anoia, 1977-2008

L’objectiu d’aquest treball radica en estimar quina és la influència dels usos del sòl en la resposta hidrològica d’una conca. En primer lloc s’analitza la influència estadística dels usos del sòl conjuntament amb variables climàtiques, en la seva relació amb el volum d’escolament generat. Per a aquests càlculs s’empra una aproximació de l’evolució del número de corba durant el període d’estudi. D’altra banda s’estima quines són les diferències en l’hidrograma de sortida d’una conca degudes als usos del sòl per a condicions climàtiques iguals i emprant l’aiguat de disseny per a un període de retorn de 10 anys.

Roger-Guy Werner (1901-1977)

Alors qu'il travaillait les lichens dans son laboratoire, chez lui à Nancy, le Professeur Werner s'écroula, victime d'une attaque cérébrale. Hospitalisé, il mourait quatre semaines après, le 28 mars 1977. Son travail, consacré surtout à la cryptogamie, et notamment à la recherche lichénologique, l'avait donc accompagné jusqu'à la fin de sa vie.
