Pla de difusió del Patrimoni Cultural de Pineda de Mar. Tot el que hi ha i no veus

Les idees que han portat a realitzar aquest projecte són les següents: posar en valor i donar a conèixer la realitat patrimonial que té Pineda de Mar, conèixer i documentar el patrimoni cultural de Pineda, actualitzar l’inventari d’elements declarats al municipi, oferir a la ciutat la possibilitat de tenir un turisme cultural, no només un turisme de sol i platja, ser un projecte útil i factible per a l’ajuntament del municipi.Aquestes idees o raons han estat el rerefons per a encaminar i decidir el projecte final de difusió que es presenta en aquest treball.

Instal·lació d'energia fotovoltaica d'una casa de colònies

Els objectius d'aquest projecte són el disseny d'una instal·lació fotovoltaica connectada a xarxa que sigui capaç de produir la mateixa quantitat d’energia que consumeix la casa de colònies a on es troba ubicada. La particularitat d’aquesta instal·lació serà que els generadors fotovoltaics aniran sobra una plataforma giratòria que seguirà el sol buscant sempre la millor i major producció energètica. El control d'aquesta estructura anirà a càrrec d'un autòmat programable. Aprofitant l'existència de panells fotovoltaics, s'ha dissenyat un sistema d’acumulació d’energia de 2 kW de potència que dotarà de corrent una línia que, en cas de falla en el sistema d’alimentació general, es mantindrà ininterrompuda. Aquesta línia serà de 230 V i està dissenyada per tenir una autonomia de 2 hores

Aplicació de gestió de rutes d'operari i incidències d'instal·lacions sobre PDA amb sincronització remota

Una empresa destinada al sector de la informàtica vol crear un nou producte basat en PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), per tal d’oferir noves prestacions als clients actuals, així com poder ampliar la cartera de clients. El producte està destinat a clients de servei tècnic d’instal·lacions (gas, llum, aigua...), els quals tenen diferents tècnics que, basant-se en una ruta establerta, realitzen tasques de manteniment i reparació de les diferents instal·lacions dels clients. Utilitzant la tecnologia .NET amb l’entorn de desenvolupament Visual Studio 2005 i base de dades SQL Server 2005, s’ha creat una aplicació per a PDA que permeti la informatització de tots els processos de gestió de rutes per part dels tècnics

Circulating antioxidant defences are decreased in healthy people after a high-fat meal.

The aim of this study was to examine the responses of uric acid, antioxidant defences and pro-oxidant variables after a high-fat meal. Twenty-five healthy persons without criteria for the metabolic syndrome, underwent a high-fat meal with Supracal (60 g fat). Measurements were made at baseline and 3 h after the meal of TAG, uric acid, HDL-cholesterol, total proteins and oxidative stress. Following the high-fat meal, we detected a significant increase in pro-oxidative variables and a decrease in antioxidative variables. The uric acid concentrations were significantly lower after the high-fat meal and the reduction correlated significantly with the oxidative stress variables. The inverse relation between reduced uric acid and increased carbonylated proteins remained in multiple regression analysis. We conclude that uric acid is a powerful antioxidant and its reduction following a high-fat meal may be related with its acute antioxidative action.

Estimation of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) population size and adult male survival in an urban area in Panama

Traditional mosquito control strategies rely heavily on the use of chemical insecticides. However, concerns about the efficiency of traditional control methods, environmental impact and emerging pesticide resistance have highlighted the necessity for developing innovative tools for mosquito control. Some novel strategies, including release of insects carrying a dominant lethal gene (RIDL®), rely on the sustained release of modified male mosquitoes and therefore benefit from a thorough understanding of the biology of the male of the species. In this report we present the results of a mark-release-recapture study aimed at: (i) establishing the survival in the field of laboratory-reared, wild-type male Aedes aegypti and (b) estimating the size of the local adult Ae. aegypti population. The study took place in Panama, a country where recent increases in the incidence and severity of dengue cases have prompted health authorities to evaluate alternative strategies for vector control. Results suggest a life expectancy of 2.3 days for released male mosquitoes (confidence interval: 1.78-2.86). Overall, the male mosquito population was estimated at 58 males/ha (range 12-81 males/ha), which can be extrapolated to an average of 0.64 pupae/person for the study area. The practical implications of these results are discussed.

L'aportació de Tomàs Cerdà en la introducció del càlcul diferencial i integral a l'Espanya del segle XVIII

El desenvolupament del càlcul diferencial i integral com a disciplina científica a Europa durant el segle XVIII no és un tema nou. Però s’ha acostumat a enfocar la visió d’aquesta formació molt sovint des del “centre” i a partir de les grans figures com Isaac Newton o Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. En el present treball el protagonista potser, per a molts, no és una figura de primera línia; Tomàs Cerdà, és un ensenyant a Barcelona i a Madrid durant la segona meitat del segle XVIII, que “tradueix” al castellà autors anglesos, però que amb la seva pràctica està realment introduint el nou càlcul a Espanya i donant, de fet, una orientació d’aquesta nova disciplina als seus deixebles. El com i per què Cerdà decideix quin serà el seu guia en la introducció del càlcul diferencial i integral i quines seran les seves pròpies aportacions en aquesta labor seran els temes centrals del nostre treball. La nostra tasca ha anat, així doncs, a entendre millor, el procés de divulgació del coneixement científic, veient-lo en tot moment com formant part activa del mateix procés de construcció d’aquest coneixement.

Primary dengue virus infections induce differential cytokine production in Mexican patients

Severe dengue pathogenesis is not fully understood, but high levels of proinflammatory cytokines have been associated with dengue disease severity. In this study, the cytokine levels in 171 sera from Mexican patients with primary dengue fever (DF) and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) from dengue virus (DENV) 1 (n = 116) or 2 (n = 55) were compared. DF and DHF were defined according to the patient’s clinical condition, the primary infections as indicated by IgG enzymatic immunoassay negative results, and the infecting serotype as assessed by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Samples were analysed for circulating levels of interleukin (IL)-12p70, interferon (IFN)-γ, tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-6, and IL-8 using a commercial cytometric bead array. Significantly higher IFN-γ levels were found in patients with DHF than those with DF. However, significantly higher IL-12p70, TNF-α, and IL-6 levels were associated with DHF only in patients who were infected with DENV2 but not with DENV1. Moreover, patients with DF who were infected with DENV1 showed higher levels of IL-12p70, TNF-α, and IL-6 than patients with DHF early after-fever onset. The IL-8 levels were similar in all cases regardless of the clinical condition or infection serotype. These results suggest that the association between high proinflammatory cytokine levels and dengue disease severity does not always stand, and it once again highlights the complex nature of DHF pathogenesis.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation in very elderly patients: immediate results and medium term follow-up.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate immediate transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) results and medium-term follow-up in very elderly patients with severe and symptomatic aortic stenosis (AS). METHODS This multicenter, observational and prospective study was carried out in three hospitals. We included consecutive very elderly (> 85 years) patients with severe AS treated by TAVI. The primary endpoint was to evaluate death rates from any cause at two years. RESULTS The study included 160 consecutive patients with a mean age of 87 ± 2.1 years (range from 85 to 94 years) and a mean logistic EuroSCORE of 18.8% ± 11.2% with 57 (35.6%) patients scoring ≥ 20%. Procedural success rate was 97.5%, with 25 (15.6%) patients experiencing acute complications with major bleeding (the most frequent). Global mortality rate during hospitalization was 8.8% (n = 14) and 30-day mortality rate was 10% (n = 16). Median follow up period was 252.24 ± 232.17 days. During the follow-up period, 28 (17.5%) patients died (17 of them due to cardiac causes). The estimated two year overall and cardiac survival rates using the Kaplan-Meier method were 71% and 86.4%, respectively. Cox proportional hazard regression showed that the variable EuroSCORE ≥ 20 was the unique variable associated with overall mortality. CONCLUSIONS TAVI is safe and effective in a selected population of very elderly patients. Our findings support the adoption of this new procedure in this complex group of patients.

L'objectiu d'aquest projecte és la creació d'una prova de concepte de comunicacions unificades utilitzant productes de programari lliure existents. Aquesta prova de concepte servirà per poder fer demostracions del funcionament general del programari implicat amb el mínim de preparacions, instal·lacions i configuracions prèvies possibles. El projecte es dividirà en dos appliances o LiveCD, creats a traves de Suse Studio, anomenats Comunicacions Unificades i Comunicacions Unificades 2.Els productes de programari lliure que composen el Servidor de Comunicacions Unificades els podem classificar en productes principals, plugins o addons dels productes i productes secundaris.Com a productes principals tenim els següents servidors que cobreixen les necessitats principals del Servidor de Comunicacions Unificades:Asterisk v1.8.3 : Servidor de telefonia amb veu sobre IP (VoIP).FreePBX v2.9.0beta2 : GUI de control i administració d'Asterisk.Openfire v3.7.0 : Servidor de IM basat en el protocol XMPP.BigBlueButton v0.71a : Sistema de conferència web. Pendent finalitzar-ne l'implementació.I els seguents productes principals que cobreixen les necessitats del servidor de Comunicacions Unificades 2:Zimbra v7.0.1 : Servidor de correu electrònic i de calendari.
