Campagnes du «De Lanessan» (1925-1929): liste des stations

From 1925 to 1929, various research trips on the ship “De Lanessan” were organized focusing on geography, geology, hydrodynamics, sea creatures and maritime resources potential. In the present note over 570 stations have been listed for periodical survey.

Inventaire de la faune ichtyologique de l'Indochine: deuxième liste

In 1926, The Oceanographic Institute published a first list of Indochinese fish, prepared by Mr. P. Charanaud. This first inventory included 275 species. For 6 years, researches conducted by the Oceanographic Institute, both at sea and on major rivers and lakes in the South of Vietnam, have contributed to build a collection of 4,000 individuals at least. Its inventory and the development of a huge documentation allowed the publication of the present note that includes 375 species.

Contribution à l'étude des Iles Paracels: les phosphates

Authorized by the Government General of Indochina to attend a two weeks cruise on “De Lanessan” towards the Paracel Islands in 1931, the author focused on determining the wealth of phosphatic grounds and collect all relevant documentation regarding a possible exploitation.

Capture d'un Requin-Baleine, Rhineodon typus A. Smith, en Cohinchine: résumé de connaissances sur ce poisson

A description of a whale shark (Rhincodon typus) captured on June 1934 along the coast of Cap Ti Oan is given. The scientific name Rhincodon is not correct due to a typographic error. The name with greek origin, should be: Rhineodon typus.

Communications présentées par l'Institut Océanographique de l'Indochine au 5ͤ Congrès Scientifique du Pacifique (Vancouver 1933)

The 5th Pacific Science Congress was held at Victoria and Vancouver (Canada) in June 1933. Six scientists from the Oceanographic Institute of Indochina were at the Conference to present their contributions published in the present note.

Hommage à Louis Boutan

Louis Boutan was a biologist and one of the first underwater photographer. Graduating in 1879 with a Doctorate of Science at the University of Paris, he became a marine biology professor at the University of Banyuls-Sur-Mer (France) in 1893. The present note provide a biography of Boutan and a contribution on the effect of tidal cycles on corals growth by A. Krempf.
