The Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) equation for massive spinless bosons in the presence of a nonminimal vector smooth step potential is revised. The problem is mapped into a Sturm-Lionville equation. The reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained and discussed in detail. Furthermore; we show that Klein's paradox does not show its face in this sort of interaction.

The Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) equation, in the scalar sector of the theory and with a linear nominimal vector potential, is mapped into the nonrelativistic harmonic oscillator problem. The behavior of the solutions for this sort of vector DKP oscillator is discussed in detail.

In the present work, we have analyzed the behavior of the chromospheric activity of stars with planets, as a function of different planetary parameters, searching for possible effects of planets on the chromosphere of the hosting star. For this study we have selected a sample of 73 main sequence stars with planets, of spectral types F, G and K. Our analysis shows that among stars with planets presenting semi-major axis smaller than 0.15 AU, a few ones present enhanced CaII emission flux, paralleling recent results found in the literature for coronal X-ray flux. Nevertheless, in contrast to Kashyap et al. (2008), who claim that enhanced X-ray flux in stars with planets is associated to massive close-in planetary companions, we suggest that such an aspect, at least in the context of CaII emission flux, is rather an effect of stellar sample selection. We have also studied the behavior of the CaII emission as a function of orbital parameters such as orbital period and eccentricity, and no clear trend was found, reinforcing our present suggestion that enhanced chromospheric activity in stars with planets is an intrinsic stellar phenomenon

Here we report massive seed predation of Pseudobombax grandiflorum (Bombacaceae) by Botogeris versicolurus (Psittacidae) in a forest fragment in Brazil. The intensity of seed predation was very high when compared to other studies in continuous forest, perhaps resulting from a scarcity of resources in such areas. This scarcity may limit the range of parrot's diet to a few plant species. It suggests that studies of Psittacidae seed predation may be important for conservation of some plants in fragments.

Using the pure spinor formalism for the superstring, the vertex operator for the first massive states of the open superstring is constructed in a manifestly super-Poincare covariant manner. This vertex operator describes a massive spin-two multiplet in terms of ten-dimensional superfields.

In this work we compute the most general massive one-loop off-shell three-point vertex in D-dimensions, where the masses, external momenta and exponents of propagators are arbitrary. This follows our previous paper in which we have calculated several new hypergeometric series representations for massless and massive (with equal masses) scalar one-loop three-point functions, in the negative dimensional approach.

We examine the recently found equivalence for the response of a static scalar source interacting with a massless Klein-Gordon field when the source is (i) static in Schwarzschild spacetime, in the Unruh vacuum associated with the Hawking radiation, and (ii) uniformly accelerated in Minkowski spacetime, in the inertial vacuum, provided that the source's proper acceleration is the same in both cases. It is shown that this equivalence is broken when the massless Klein-Gordon field is replaced by a massive one.

In this article we present the complete massless and massive one-loop triangle diagram results using the negative dimensional integration method (NDIM). We consider the following cases: massless internal fields; one massive, two massive with the same mass m and three equal masses for the virtual particles. Our results are given in terms of hypergeometric and hypergeometric-type functions of the external momenta (and masses for the massive cases) where the propagators in the Feynman integrals are raised to arbitrary exponents and the dimension of the space-time is D. Our approach reproduces the known results; it produces other solutions as yet unknown in the literature as well. These new solutions occur naturally in the context of NDIM revealing a promising technique to solve Feynman integrals in quantum field theories.
