Hipertensão arterial sistêmica e a prática de exercícios físicos regulares em pacientes do bairro Barro Duro de Pelotas

Foi realizado um projeto com moradores do bairro Barro Duro, na cidade de Pelotas, participantes do grupo de hipertensos, o qual avaliou as modificações comportamentais e físicas ocorridas com a implementação de uma proposta educativa para adesão da pessoa hipertensa ao exercício físico, grupo de caminhadas. Os dados foram coletados nos grupos semanais de hipertensos e analisados de acordo com propostas de estudos prévios, quanto a evolução perante as atividades físicas propostas. Em alguns participantes obtivemos uma boa taxa na diminuição de peso durante o tempo do estudo e moderada regulação em níveis pressóricos, mas como grande conquista, tivemos a conscientização da proposta educativa à adesão de atividade física de forma regular, uma vez que houve a conscientização dos sujeitos sobre a importância do exercício físico no controle da doença.

Promoção a prática do aleitamento materno exclusivo em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde em Óbidos, Pará

Muitos são os fatores que contribuem para a interrupção do aleitamento e o desmame precoce no Município de Óbidos, dentre eles podemos destacar o desconhecimento a cerca dos benefícios do aleitamento materno exclusivo. Este projeto de intervenção apresenta uma proposta de promover ações que incentivem as gestantes à prática do aleitamento materno exclusivo na Unidade Centro de Saúde de Óbidos. Este estudo pretende implementar oficinas de trabalho na UBS para capacitar e construir relações de cooperação entre as equipes de saúde no enfrentamento da problemática, além de reuniões mensais com as gestantes com a finalidade de esclarecimentos a cerca do tema aleitamento materno, além de dinâmicas de grupo como forma de compartilhar experiências entre os participantes.

Filtros de areia aplicados à irrigação localizada: teoria e prática

The application of sand filters in localized irrigation systems is recommended in the presence of organic and algae contamination. The proper design and maintenance of these equipments are essential to assure an effective water quality control, in order to reduce the emitters clogging, to keep its water application uniformity, and to prevent increasing in the system operation costs. Despite the existence of some references about design, operation and maintenance of these filters, they are dispersed, with not enough details to guarantee the optimization of its hydraulics structure design and the proper selection of porous media to be used. Therefore, the objective of this work was to report a current literature review, relating practical information with scientific knowledge. The content of this review would help to induce and intensify the research on this subject and to contribute so the operational functions for the equipment are reached. It is also expected to assist the improvement of the filtration and flushing processes in the agricultural irrigation and the development of original design procedures and the rational use of these devices.

A teoria e a prática: a questão da diferençano discurso sobre e da sala de aula

The main purpose of this paper is to question the relationship between theory and practice or basic and applied research in the domain of Applied Linguistics and classroom discourse. In order to achieve our aim, some theoretical texts, some recorded and transcribed classes as well as some teachers and students opinions about reading and writing were analysed. Results have shown that 1) practice is not the direct application of theoretical data: the relationship between them is not as simple as some applied linguists seem to believe because of the action of the unconscious in the constitution of subjectivity; 2) the conceptualization of the theoretical issues takes place in a confused and disorderly manner mixed up with personal experiences and previous knowledge (practice). We intend to question the fact that practice comes as secondary to theory.

Utilização dos testes de função tireoidiana na prática clínica

Laboratory tests are essential for accurate diagnosis and cost-effective management of thyroid disorders. When the clinical suspicion is strong, hormonal levels just confirms the diagnosis. However, in most patients, symptoms are subtle and unspecific, so that only biochemical tests can detect the disorder. The objective of this article is to do a critical analysis of the appropriate use of the most important thyroid function tests, including serum concentrations of thyrotropin (TSH), thyroid hormones and antithyroid antibodies. Through a survey in the MedLine database, we discuss the major pitfalls and interferences related to daily use of these tests and recommendations are presented to optimize the use of these diagnostic tools in clinical practice.

Success attitudes of young ophthalmologists in the first decade of their career

PURPOSE: To describe the main success attitudes of young ophthalmologists in the first decade of their career. METHODS: This descriptive study comprised subjects selected from a sample of ophthalmologists who were participating in a congress, using a semi-structured questionnaire. The inclusion criteria were as follows: ophthalmologists under the age of 40 years, within 5-10 years from ophthalmology residency conclusion. The subjects were asked about the three main success attitudes in their personal experience during the first years of ophthalmology practice. After the initial results, the 10 most frequently mentioned attitudes were listed and volunteers were again interviewed to choose, within the latter list, the three main attitudes. RESULTS: Forty-eight ophthalmologists were interviewed, 24 (50%) were male; the mean age was 37 years (SD: 2 years, range: 33-40 years) and the mean time from ophthalmology residency conclusion was 8 years (SD: 1 year, range: 5-10 years). The frequency of such mentioned success attitudes were as follows: to invest in professional updating (22.9%), to have a good relationship with patients and professional partners (18.8%), to prioritize individual and family happiness (12.5%), initially to work in an established group (11.1%), to work in public service (9.7%), to have their own business with a homogeneous group (7.6%), to save money (7.6%), to be ready to resume work (4.2%), to get business administration skills (4.2%), and to have professional insurance (0.7%). CONCLUSIONS: The three main success attitudes consisted in investing in professional updating (22.9%), maintaining a good relationship with patients and professional partners (18.8%), and prioritizing individual and family happiness (12.5%). Although these results should not be generalized, they are helpful not only for those ophthalmologists at the beginning of a career but also those who want to reflect on what to prioritize in their professional practice.
