Fabrication of optoelectronic devices requires the employment of at least one transparent electrode. Usually, commercially transparent electrodes have been made by deposition of indium tin oxide (ITO) films by RF-Sputtering technique. These commercial electrodes have sheet resistance of about 100 Ω/sq and optical transmittance of 77% at the wavelength of 550 nm. The poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene-sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) is an alternative material to fabricate transparent electrodes due to its high conductivity (about 600 S/cm) and solubility in water. Soluble conductive materials exhibits advantages for processing of electrode layers, however there is a disadvantage during devices fabrication once materials with the same solvent of the electrode material cannot be coated one over the other. Alternatively, organic/Silica hybrid materials prepared by sol-gel process allow producing bulks and films with high chemical durability. In order to obtain transparent electrodes with high chemical durability, we introduced a blended material comprising the high UV-VIS transparency of organic/Silica sol-gel material and a high conductivity polymer PEDOT:PSS. The organic/Silica sol was obtained using two different molar concentrations (1:1 and 4:1), of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTS). Amounts of PEDOT:PSS solutions were added to the sol material, resulting in different weight fractions of sol and polymer. G:T/P:P were deposit onto glass substrates by spray-coating. In order to perform electrical characterization of the blended material, gold electrodes were thermally evaporated onto the films. Once petroleum is na exhaustible source of energy, alternative fuels are having more prominence. A much discussed option for replacing fossil fuels is the use of biofuels derived from oils or fats, especially biodiesel. The biodiesel preparation is through a reaction named transesterification, a reaction of triglycerides with a short chain alcohol with a catalyst, producing a mixture of fatty acid esters and glycerol. According to ANP (National Petroleum Agency) specifications, biodiesel can have contaminants due to the catalyst or oil used on its synthesis, such as phosphorus, wich can damage the catalytic converter and cause significant increase in the particles emission. This project aims to develop na alternative method using chemically modified electrodes with iron nanoparticles for determination of phosphorus in biodiesel. For the formation of the iron nanoparticles film on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode, was used a iron sulfate solution. The film was formed after 10 successive cycles, with a scanning speed of 50 mV s-1 and a potential range of -0,9 to -1,25 V. To reduce possible oxides on the surface and activate the electrode, it has been subjected to a cathodic polarization with a potential of -1,25 V for 15 minutes in a sodium hydroxide solution. In cyclic voltammograms obtained in the study of the speed of scanning, there is an increase in the intensity of the anodic and cathodic current peaks. The cathodic peak current varied linearly with the square root of scan rate, showing that the electrode is controlled by diffusion. After successive additions of phosphate there is a linear variation in the current peak in the concentration range of 1,0 x 10-7 a 1,0 x 10-6 mol L-1. To determine if the concentration of phosphorus in real sample, the method of adding standard was used by adding aliquots of phosphate ions in the solution containing soy biodiesel extracted with ....

Objectives: This study aimed to assess dimensional changes in acrylic resin base and artificial teeth position after water storage and thermocycling using computer graphics measurements. Methods: Twenty-four waxed replicas were obtained from a previous upper complete denture. For linear measurements, points in cusps tips of left central incisor and second premolars and molars were marked in one of the prostheses with graphite and transferred to the others using an acrylic resin guide. The prostheses were scanned after waxing, polymerization and treatments and the images were exported to “AutoCad 2002 Today®” software for measurements. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in changes of each segment for each group and between the phases evaluated after polymerization and thermocycling. In groups I and III, the values after polymerization are higher than those after treatment, which suggests shrinkage while the prostheses in group II have expanded. Conclusion: The three groups exhibited artificial teeth movement after tests in comparison to the polymerized prosthesis. The prostheses submitted to water storage in kiln at 36ºC during seven days showed different behavior than the other groups.

Objetivo: O presente estudo buscou um indicador de classificação de presença de dor lombar baseado no tempo de resistência isométrica e em variáveis eletromiográficas. Material e Métodos: Para tanto participaram do presente estudo 40 voluntários do gênero masculino, os quais foram divididos em dois grupos de 20 voluntários, a saber: grupo sem dor lombar e grupo com dor lombar. Para a captação dos sinais eletromiográficos foram utilizados eletrodos de superfície descartáveis passivos de contato bipolar de Ag/AgCl conectados a um pré-amplificador de ganho de 20 vezes. A distância intereletrodos foi fixa em 20mm. Os eletrodos foram dispostos bilateralmente sobre os músculos longuíssimo do tórax, iliocostal lombar e multífido lombar. Foi utilizado um módulo de aquisição de sinais biológicos de 8 canais no qual foram conectados os eletrodos. Para a aquisição dos sinais foi utilizado um software específico (Aqdados 7-Lynx®) com a freqüência de amostragem calibrada em 2000 Hz. Com os equipamentos preparados e os eletrodos conectados os voluntários realizaram o teste de Sorensen, o qual consiste em sustentar o peso do tronco, em posição horizontal, até a exaustão voluntária. Para a análise dos sinais eletromiográficos foram utilizadas rotinas específicas em ambiente MatLab (MathWorks®). Neste software foi obtida a atividade eletromiográfica dos músculos selecionados durante o teste de contração isométrica até a exaustão para a determinação dos valores de root means quare (RMS) em pacotes de 1s a cada 0.5s (overlap). De cada espectro foram determinados os valores de frequência mediana (FM) e frequência média (Fmed) do sinal. Com a RMS, FM e Fmed foram obtidos também os valores de Razão ML/LT, Razão ML/IL e Razão IL/LT para cada variável. Com isto, os valores de RMS, FM e Fmed, juntamente com os valores de Razão ML/LT, Razão ML/IL e Razão IL/LT de cada variável, foram associados com o tempo...

This study evaluated the effect of daily chromium supplementation at growing doses on serum Cr levels in cattle. Sixty Nellore heifers 2 to 5 years old were randomly assigned to one of four groups (15 heifers/group) fed non-fertilized Brachiaria decumbens pasture. In the control group (Gc), the heifers received a mineral mixture without Cr. In the other groups, heifers received 0.59, 1.19 or 2.38 mg Cr+3/animal/day, groups G8,5, G17 and G34, respectively. Blood samples were collected on days 0, 30 and 60. Serum concentration of chromium was determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The chromium source used was the chromium yeast. The results do not support any significant difference (p>0.05) among serum chromium levels of heifers in groups Gc, G8,5, G17 and G34 at a same observation day. Only effect of supplementation time was detected in group G34. In this group there was significant increase (p<0,05) in the concentration serum chromium 60 days after the beginning of the experiment. Concluded Cr yeast can be used as the source of this mineral element for animals and supplementation with 2.38 mg/ cattle/day was the dose that most increased the serum concentration of Cr in Nellore cattle during the experimental period.
