Despliegue y análisis de la cobertura de una red WiMAX basada en IEEE 802.16-2004

Aquest projecte tracta de l’estudi de la cobertura WiMAX basada en la variant 802.16-2004 en la que opera a 3.5 GHz en diferents escenaris d’un campus universitari. Primerament es realitza una introducció general a WiMAX i es defineixen els equips utilitzats. Posteriorment es comença a dur a terme un estudi de la cobertura WiMAX en diferents escenaris: indoor y outdoor per tal de poder extreure models empírics simplificats de path loss a partir de mesures realitzades amb els terminals WiMAX. Per últim, s’introdueix al projecte InterRural del Ministeri d'Indústria, Turisme i Comerç dut a terme durant els mesos Octubre 2007 - Març 2008 amb altres empreses col·laboradores: Telefònica, Hispasat, Gigle i Iber-X. La finalitat del projecte InterRural és comparar diferents tecnologies wireless de banda ample com alternatives per un bucle local ràdio de la última milla. En concret es comparen experimentalment les tecnologies WiMAX i WiFI 802.11a en diferents escenaris: LOS i NLOS.

Acute endotoxemia inhibits microvascular nitric oxide-dependent vasodilation in humans.

Nitric oxide (NO) is crucial for the microvascular homeostasis, but its role played in the microvascular alterations during sepsis remains controversial. We investigated NO-dependent vasodilation in the skin microcirculation and plasma levels of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), a potent endogenous inhibitor of the NO synthases, in a human model of sepsis. In this double-blind, randomized, crossover study, microvascular NO-dependent (local thermal hyperemia) and NO-independent vasodilation (post-occlusive reactive hyperemia) assessed by laser Doppler imaging, plasma levels of ADMA, and l-arginine were measured in seven healthy obese volunteers, immediately before and 4 h after either a i.v. bolus injection of Escherichia coli endotoxin (LPS; 2 ng/kg) or normal saline (placebo) on two different visits at least 2 weeks apart. LPS caused the expected systemic effects, including increases in heart rate (+43%, P < 0.001), cardiac output (+16%, P < 0.01), and rectal temperature (+1.4°C, P < 0.001), without change in arterial blood pressure. LPS affected neither baseline skin blood flow nor post-occlusive reactive hyperemia but decreased the NO-dependent local thermal hyperemia response, l-arginine, and, to a lesser extent, ADMA plasma levels. The changes in NO-dependent vasodilation were not correlated with the corresponding changes in the plasma levels of ADMA, l-arginine, or the l-arginine/ADMA ratio. Our results show for the first time that experimental endotoxemia in humans causes a specific decrease in endothelial NO-dependent vasodilation in the microcirculation, which cannot be explained by a change in ADMA levels. Microvascular NO deficiency might be responsible for the heterogeneity of tissue perfusion observed in sepsis and could be a therapeutic target.

II Workshop on the use of Computed Tomography (CT) in pig carcass classification. Other CT applications: live animals and meat technology, 16-17th April 2009, Monells (Girona), Spain

Es va realitzar el II Workshop en Tomografia Computeritzada (TC) a Monells. El primer dia es va dedicar íntegrament a la utilització del TC en temes de classificació de canals porcines, i el segon dia es va obrir a altres aplicacions del TC, ja sigui en animals vius o en diferents aspectes de qualitat de la carn o els productes carnis. Al workshop hi van assistir 45 persones de 12 països de la UE. The II workshop on the use of Computed Tomography (CT) in pig carcass classification. Other CT applications: live animals and meat technology was held in Monells. The first day it was dedicated to the use of CT in pig carcass classification. The segond day it was open to otehr CT applications, in live animals or in meat and meat products quality. There were 45 assistants of 12 EU countries.

Et quand nous sommes entrés dans Rome. L'énigme de la fin du livre des Actes (28,16-31)

Pour composer la fin des Actes (28,16-31), Luc s'est inspiré d'un procédé littéraire que l'on retrouve à la fois dans l'oeuvre d'Homère, dans la poétique gréco-romaine et dans l'historiographie grecque (Hérodote): la suspension narrative. Il s'agit d'une rhétorique du silence, qui conduit le lecteur à porter lui-même le récit à son achèvement. Le souvenir de la mort de Paul est réinterprété par l'inversion du schéma du procès (Ac 27,28); dans le sommaire conclusif (28,30-31) se déploie le portrait du pasteur exemplaire, anticipation du programme missionnaire des Actes.

Isaac et Ismaël, concurrents ou cohéritiers de la promesse ? Une lecture de Genèse 16

La lecture chrétienne traditionnelle du cycle d'Abraham oublie souvent que le patriarche a deux fils : Ismaël et Isaac. A partir d'une enquête sur Gn 16, l'A. s'efforce de montrer que, pour les auteurs et rédacteurs de Gn 12-25, Ismaël et sa mère Hagar ne sont nullement une quantité négligeable. La version primitive de Gn 16 a été écrite par une représentante de l'aristocratie rurale en Juda au VII e S. av. J-C. Cet auteur s'oppose aux tendances nationalistes en montrant le lien profond entre Israël et ses voisins.

The Enigma of the Silent Closing of Acts (28,16-31)

(Résumé de l'ouvrage) In the first volume of this long-anticipated collection by Moessner and Tiede, seventeen leading scholars of antiquity present an amazing "sea change" of opinion that Luke is indeed the interpreter of Israel. The book represents an unprecedented international consensus that the Hellenistic author Luke composed a carefully crafted narrative in two parts to claim Jesus of Nazareth as Israel's true heritage and enduring legacy to the world. Part One explores the nature of Luke's prologues and his intention to write a narrative of "events brought to fruition," using the narrative conventions and audience expectations of the Greco-Roman milieu. Part Two illuminates the relation of Luke's second "volume" to the first by inquiring about the consistency and coherence of his narrative-thematic strategies in retelling the story of Israel's legacy of "the Christ." Whether Luke completed Acts, the larger role of Paul and, most significantly, the meaning of Israel by the end of Acts are approached from new perspectives and charged with provocative insights. Clinical follow-up of women infected with human papillomavirus-16, either alone or with other human papillomavirus types: identification of different risk groups.

OBJECTIVES: Evaluation of the clinical impact of multiple infections of the cervix by human papillomavirus, including human papillomavirus-16, compared with single human papillomavirus-16 infection. STUDY DESIGN: One hundred sixty-nine women were classified in 3 categories depending on their human papillomavirus profile: human papillomavirus-16 only, human papillomavirus-16 and low-risk type(s), and human papillomavirus-16 and other high-risk type(s). Cervical brush samples were analyzed for human papillomavirus DNA by polymerase chain reaction and reverse line blot hybridization. All women were evaluated with colposcopy during 24 months or more. Management was according to the Bethesda recommendations. RESULTS: Women infected with human papillomavirus-16 and other high-risk human papillomavirus type(s) presented more progression or no change in the grade of dysplasia, compared with women of the other groups (relative risk [RR], 1.39; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.07-1.82; P = .02 at 6 months; RR, 2.10; 95% CI, 1.46-3.02; P < .001 at 12 months; RR, 1.82; 95% CI, 1.21-2.72; P = .004 at 24 months). CONCLUSION: Coinfection of women with human papillomavirus-16 and other high-risk human papillomavirus type(s) increases the risk of unfavorable evolution.

Vingt-six portraits par vingt-six exégètes. Tel est le défi proposé et assumé pour un parcours surprenant de lectures et d'interprétations multiples d'un Dieu unique et en même temps complexe. Quelle cohérence entre le Dieu fracassant de l'Exode et le Dieu crucifié de l'apôtre Paul ? Quelle continuité entre le Dieu de Gédéon et celui de Jésus : " Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné ? " (Mc 15,34) ? Le Dieu de l'entrée en Canaan ressemble-t-il vraiment à l'Agneau immolé de l'Apocalypse ? Mais déjà, au sein de la Bible hébraïque, les trompettes de Jéricho côtoient le Serviteur souffrant d'Isaïe. Comment comprendre aujourd'hui cette diversité de la présence de Dieu dans la Bible, si ce n'est par la diversité des regards d'exégètes dont la lecture croisée des textes bibliques nous invite à renouveler notre compréhension de Dieu ?

LittleProc 2.0. : l'evolució als 16 bits, amb arquitectura superescalar i amb pipeline

Aquest projecte consisteix en evolucionar el LittleProc 1.0, un processador simple dissenyat per ser destinat al món de la docència per tres professors de la UAB. Aquestes evolucions consisteixen en aplicar diversos mètodes i arquitectures diferents per tal d’obtenir un millor rendiment del processador, arribant a executar programes amb la meitat de temps que tardava el LittleProc 1.0. Un cop implementades les diferents arquitectures per tal de millorar el rendiment, es realitzarà un estudi de quin tant per cent de millora ha sigut aquest rendiment.
