Patients that are mechanically ventilated in ICUs are constantly exposed to different pathogens, which present multiantibiotic resistance. Among these microorganisms, is MRSA (Meticillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) considered to be a therapeutic challenge due to its resistance to β-lactam antibiotics. Therefore, this study proposed to identify species of Staphylococcus spp. isolated from mechanically ventilated patients in ICU, the gene mecA detection and the genes of the enterotoxins A (sea), B (seb), C (sec-1) and D (sed) in samples of S. aureus, as well as the phenotypic resistance determination to oxacillin using the disc-diffusion method with discs of oxacillin and cefoxitin. The samples collection occurred during in a period of 19 months, obtaining samples from 232 patients. A percentage of 39% (70) of Gram-positive cocci were found; which 82,8% (58) were identified as Staphylococcus spp,. among these, 75,8% (44) corresponded to S. aureus species and 47,7% were identified as MRSA. It was found resistance to both drugs in 31,8% of the S. aureus samples, 16 (36,3%) had the gene sea and 11 (25%) had the sec-1 gene. Among the coagulase-negative staphylococci obtained, the species most found was S. epidermidis, corresponding to 43% (6). The results revealed that one of the most important etiologic agents of VAP amid the Gram-positive cocci is the species S. aureus, with special attention to MRSA. The presence of enterotoxins genes in S. aureus did not showed determinant role in VAP, but the presence of these superantigens can contribute worsening the patient’s prognosis, since they are associated with intense inflammatory response

The industry generally has sought materials with high mechanical resistance, low density, thermal stability and corrosion resistance. In the aerospace industry, for example, the use of aluminum alloys, such as Al 2024-T351 and Al 7075-T7351, have become essential. However, the use of these materials often do not resulted in a satisfactory performance of the component, since the presence of cracks can cause total rupture of the component, even with a tension below the yield stress of the material, unexpectedly. In this work, these aluminum alloys were analyzed and samples were modeled by the finite element method. Moreover, in the models were applied two different types of cracks, central and edge crack, a vertical force was applied to result in a tension 70% of the yield stress of the material analyzed. Through stress asymptotic distribution in the region near the crack tip were calculated the values of the stress intensity factors for each crack length, after the stress intensity factors characterized were compared graphically with the values of fracture toughness found in the available literature

The present study aimed to analyze the effects of tooth bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide (CP) gel on the bond strength of resin composite restorations to dentin. Material and Methods: Twenty cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of bovine teeth. After acid etching and application of bonding agent on dentin and enamel, the cavities were restored with composite resin. The specimens were divided into groups according to treatment on the surface of enamel / restoration: G1 - control (no treatment) and G2 (10% PC gel application for 8h/day during 14 days). After this period, the teeth were cut to produce beams with 0.81 mm2 cross-sectional area, which were subjected to microtensile test. The fractures were examined with a stereomicroscope and classified as cohesive in resin or dentin, adhesive, or mixed. Results: The statistical analysis (ANOVA / χ2) revealed that the factor treatment interfered with the bond strength, which was significantly higher for specimens of G2 (p <0.05). Adhesive fractures occurred in most of specimens of both groups with values ranging from 48.3% to 75%. Mixed fractures were the second more frequent in G1 and cohesive resin failure in G2. Conclusion: It was concluded that tooth bleaching with 10% of PC increased the bond strength of adhesive restorations to dentin.

This paper intends to discuss the relationship between psychoanalysis and aesthetic thinking under the prism of the “unbinding” theory – earlier conceived by the psychoanalyst Andre Green –, linking it to some theories proposed by Hal Foster, art historian and art critic, where we can find the lacanian “real” as the linking concept. One could say, in this linkage made here, that both authors are dealing, in a very particular way, with a question that refers to the theory of the real (as it was conceived by Jacques Lacan), even in the case of Green it is not referred directly; Green’s theory, however, seems to discuss some kind of a regredience that could be linked to the death drive. Accessing the psychoanalytical dispositive, and using it as it is appropriated to the (art) object to be interpreted, Foster, for example, advances in both the field of aesthetic reflection and in the more specific field of psychoanalysis. It should be noted that Foster’s reflection refers strictly to the post-pop images, observed mainly in the 1990’s photography. Thus, I think that this intersection between aesthetics and psychoanalysis might allow us to shed some light on a new art reading possibility towards a “non-applied” psychoanalytical paradigm, which, in my opinion, seems to be an appropriate way to understand some of the contemporary art production.

The Frankfurt critical theory and the French post-structuralism are important lines of thought in the philosophy of education, which inspired several academic productions in recent decades. In the 1950s and 1960s, both opposed philosophical resistance against many types of totalitarianism. One big difference between the two lines of thought has been the critical of the dialectic considered an insufficient method to think about the difference (Deleuze) and the reaffirmation of a negative dialectic (Adorno). This article intends to analyze the thematic affinities and the differences of method between the thought of these two authors.

With the increase in world population and scarcity of natural resources, efficient use of fertilizers becomes necessary for intensive agriculture. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, UNESP in Botucatu-SP. The treatments were derived from the combination of the soil salinity (E.C: 1.0, 3.0, 6.0, 9.0 and 12.0 dS m-1), Fertigation management (M1 =traditional and M2 = with control of the ionic concentration of the soil solution) and beet cultivars (C1= Early Wonder and C2 = Itapuã) in a 5x2x2 factorial design with four replications in a randomized block design. Throughout the cultivation, the following variables were evaluated: height, stem diameter, length and diameter of plant roots. The height of the plant presented differently according to the Fertigation management and sensitive to levels of electrical conductivity in the soil. The diameter of the roots showed reductions of 3.55 and 2.48 mm for C1 and C2, respectively, every unit increase in electrical conductivity (EC) to M1. Based on the functional relationship of the best adjustment between the diameter of the roots and electrical conductivity in M2 gave an estimated maximum diameter of 90.78 mm to 94.67 mm for C1 and C2.
