CODAPACK3D. A new version of Compositional Data Package

The statistical analysis of compositional data should be treated using logratios of parts, which are difficult to use correctly in standard statistical packages. For this reason a freeware package, named CoDaPack was created. This software implements most of the basic statistical methods suitable for compositional data. In this paper we describe the new version of the package that now is called CoDaPack3D. It is developed in Visual Basic for applications (associated with Excel©), Visual Basic and Open GL, and it is oriented towards users with a minimum knowledge of computers with the aim at being simple and easy to use. This new version includes new graphical output in 2D and 3D. These outputs could be zoomed and, in 3D, rotated. Also a customization menu is included and outputs could be saved in jpeg format. Also this new version includes an interactive help and all dialog windows have been improved in order to facilitate its use. To use CoDaPack one has to access Excel© and introduce the data in a standard spreadsheet. These should be organized as a matrix where Excel© rows correspond to the observations and columns to the parts. The user executes macros that return numerical or graphical results. There are two kinds of numerical results: new variables and descriptive statistics, and both appear on the same sheet. Graphical output appears in independent windows. In the present version there are 8 menus, with a total of 38 submenus which, after some dialogue, directly call the corresponding macro. The dialogues ask the user to input variables and further parameters needed, as well as where to put these results. The web site http://ima.udg.es/CoDaPack contains this freeware package and only Microsoft Excel© under Microsoft Windows© is required to run the software. Active citizenship

The aim of this activity is to allow students to explore the nature of political action, which can be thought of as a form of active as opposed to passive citizenship. By learning about and reflecting upon past instances of political action, or activism, students will be able to start thinking about what is likely to make a campaign successful. It is intended that these reflections can then be applied to their own actions as active citizens. It is hoped that the historical case studies combined with the information provided on different campaigning tools and methods will help to make students feel empowered and inspired to take action. In setting students the task of planning an action, it is expected that time management and organizational skills will be improved. It is believed that by putting themselves in the shoes of activists and going through the process of planning an action, they will have an engaged learning experience. The reflective element of the activity encourages students to form and defend opinions on the relative strengths and weaknesses of different campaigning methods, and on the acceptable limits to political action. This learning activity has been designed presuming no prior knowledge of activism or its methods, and has been successfully used with first year undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines. However, the activity provides a basis for more in-depth study of several issues, or alternatively study into further examples of campaign organizations. Análisis del proceso de reclamos para clientes de la unidad de Negocio de Salón Profesional de Procter & Gamble Latinoamérica

Las decisiones en el mundo empresarial se basan en el supuesto de la existencia de recursos limitados. Sin importar el tamaño de las compañías, existen procesos cruciales que no pueden ser ejecutados dadas limitaciones de personal, activos físicos, financieros entre otros. Por lo anterior, propuestas como las Teoría de las Restricciones (Theory of Constraints - TOC) y el Manejo en base a Actividades (Activity-Based Management – AMB) se han posicionado como un marco de desarrollo dentro de los procesos administrativos y de producción de las compañías. En el presente proyecto se analizará el caso del proceso de reclamos presentados por los clientes en Salón Profesional, una de las Áreas de Negocio de la empresa Procter & Gamble, con el objetivo de formular una alternativa financieramente viable para mejorar el nivel de servicio en la resolución de reclamos para los clientes de Salón Profesional de Latinoamérica.

La cooperación entre la oficina de ayuda humanitaria de la comisión europea (ECHO) y el programa mundial de alimentos (PMA) de las Naciones Unidas relacionada con la ayuda alimentaria en Colombia

El presente trabajo trata de analizar las posibles estrategias de cooperación que deben seguir el PMA y ECHO de manera conjunta para aumentar el impacto de sus acciones en el tema de la ayuda humanitaria, en especial lo referente a la asistencia alimentaria.

Disputa territorial por las Islas Dokdo en las relaciones políticas entre Corea del Sur y Japón (2005-2012)

Las relaciones políticas y económicas entre Corea del Sur y Japón pasaban por su mejor momento en los primeros años del siglo XXI, cuando la disputa territorial por las islas Dokdo, un grupo de islotes ubicados en el mar de Japón y que por décadas han simbolizado el fin de la ocupación del país nipón en territorio coreano, causara nuevas y significativas tensionen entre los dos países. Dicho fenómeno, se sugiere fundamental en la comprensión de las nuevas relaciones bilaterales entre los dos actores y se presenta como foco de análisis en la presente monografía. El documento, presenta un análisis descriptivo de la disputa territorial por las Islas y de sus efectos en las relaciones entre los dos países, tanto en los ámbitos político, social y económico.

Identificación de errores cometidos en el proceso de despliegue de la política: caso Megaexpress S.A.S y Merca express LTDA.

La presente investigación evalúo errores gerenciales en Megaexpress S.A.S. y Merca Express Ltda., empresas catalogadas en el grupo de micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas (mipymes) en Bogotá, Colombia; pertenecientes al sector de consumo masivo, la primera en venta al detalle o retail y la segunda en distribución a mayoristas. La investigación partió del interés de los investigadores por conocer sobre la relación entre la academia y el sector real y en cómo la academia ayuda a los gerentes a mejorar sus prácticas en la toma de decisiones al momento de enfrentar la realidad empresarial. El estudio de errores gerenciales inicio en el análisis de teoría administrativa sobre el tema abordado por los diferentes autores que conforman el marco referencial en cuanto a cuáles eran los errores en los que incurrían los gerentes y su solución o mejora. Los investigadores utilizaron la herramienta, matriz de convergencias y divergencias, para dicho análisis y de la que se desprende la encuesta, instrumento de investigación, aplicada a gerentes y jefes con personal a cargo de Megaexpress S.A.S. y Mercaexpress Ltda., con el fin de corroborar en que errores incurrían las empresas y llegar a dar recomendaciones para mejorar sus procesos en la toma de decisiones y así contribuir a la perdurabilidad de las empresas.

Evaluación de intervención de alertas para riesgo cardiovascular por diclofenaco en afiliados al régimen contributivo 2014 -2015

El objetivo fue evaluar la intervención de las alertas en la prescripción de diclofenaco. Estudio observacional, comparativo, post intervención, de un antes después, en pacientes con prescripción de diclofenaco. Se evaluó la intervención de las alertas restrictivas antes y después de su implementación en los pacientes prescritos con diclofenaco y que tenían asociado un diagnóstico de riesgo cardiovascular según CIE 10 o eran mayores de 65 años. Un total de 315.135 transacciones con prescripción de diclofenaco, en 49.355 pacientes promedio mes. El 94,8% (298.674) de las transacciones fueron prescritas por médicos generales.

An approximate Bayesian computation approach to overcome biases that arise when using amplified fragment length polymorphism markers to study population structure

There is great interest in using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers because they are inexpensive and easy to produce. It is, therefore, possible to generate a large number of markers that have a wide coverage of species genotnes. Several statistical methods have been proposed to study the genetic structure using AFLP's but they assume Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and do not estimate the inbreeding coefficient, F-IS. A Bayesian method has been proposed by Holsinger and colleagues that relaxes these simplifying assumptions but we have identified two sources of bias that can influence estimates based on these markers: (i) the use of a uniform prior on ancestral allele frequencies and (ii) the ascertainment bias of AFLP markers. We present a new Bayesian method that avoids these biases by using an implementation based on the approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) algorithm. This new method estimates population-specific F-IS and F-ST values and offers users the possibility of taking into account the criteria for selecting the markers that are used in the analyses.
