Tratamento fisioterapêutico na síndrome do respirador bucal

Introdução: A síndrome do respirador bucal é caracterizada pelo indivíduo que substitui o padrão correto da respiração nasal por um padrão inadequado, de maneira bucal ou mista. É definida por um conjunto de sintomas que constitui um quadro geral de doenças e pelas alterações que podem acontecer nas vias aéreas superiores, modificando o padrão respiratório e levando a alterações faciais e corporais. Objetivo: Apresentar um caso e demonstrar o tratamento fisioterapêutico de um paciente com a síndrome do respirador bucal, permitindo possível melhora da condição respiratória, do padrão postural e das atividades de vida diárias do paciente. Método: Estudo de caso de uma paciente com 10 anos, sexo feminino, com síndrome do respirador bucal. A paciente foi submetida a uma avaliação inicial que constava de anamnese e exame físico, além de avaliação postural, índice de massa corpórea, manuvacuometria, peak-flow e espirometria. O tratamento constou de técnicas de reeducação postural global (RPG), exercícios respiratórios e orientações, com frequência de três vezes na semana, por 60 minutos, num período de dois meses, totalizando 20 sessões. Resultados: Na avaliação inicial a paciente apresentou mais alterações em fechamento – cadeia anterior, portanto no tratamento foram realizadas posturas para abertura. Após o tratamento observou-se melhora da postura; da condição respiratória com melhora nos testes de manuvacuometria, peak-flow e espirometria; melhora também das atividades diárias. Conclusão: O tratamento fisioterapêutico proposto, RPG e exercícios respiratórios, contribuiu para melhora global da condição respiratória, do padrão postural e das atividades diárias.

The intervertebral disc disease is considered a major neurological disorder involving the spinal cord, being a disease commonly seen in dogs in clinical practice of small animals. The pathophysiology of most discopathies have not been fully elucidated, but it is known that the symptoms observed will depend on the severity of spinal cord compression and location of spinal injury, ranging from localized pain to complete paralysis. Through a detailed clinical examination and laboratory tests, we choose the most appropriate treatment for each patient, which can be conservative, through the use of anti-inflammatories, analgesics and acupuncture or surgical, through decompression techniques. Acupuncture, therapeutic method of ancient Chinese medicine, uses the stimulation of specific points on the body in order to balance the body's physiological. The action mechanism of acupuncture in discopathies has not been fully elucidated, but its analgesic effects, anti-inflammatory and restoration of sensory and motor function are known, showing results as good as surgical therapy

Conduta do paciente hipertenso frente ao tratamento clínico

The urbanization process established in Brazilian society since the middle of last century brought changes in the population habits and customs, which was responsible for the increased of chronic diseases incidence, such as arterial hypertension, for example. Although this is a common disease nowadays, it is still difficult to establish a significant control in subjects with this disease and its consequences. This is apparently due to lack of interest to the correct plan of care developed for the treatment of this disease. The nursing consultation identifies potential problematic situations and the patient needs, setting actions that are complementary to their benefit in order to promote health. The present work aims to observe how the nursing consultation is being used as strategy for patients with arterial hypertension, and to understand the difficulties faced during treatment of these patients. For this purpose, it was performed qualitative and quantitative studies with patients from Centro Saúde Escola (CSE), Unidade Auxiliar, Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu, UNESP, located in Botucatu, employing as methodology the Discourse of the Collective Subject and descriptive statistical analysis of quantitative results. The vast majority of consultations were held by medical professionals and it was observed that the multidisciplinary work still needs to be recognized and valued by users. The lack of knowledge of some individuals in relation to the potential and importance of the nursing consultation occurs not only for the treatment of arterial hypertension, but for the treatment and monitoring of the individual as a whole. Therefore, it is still necessary to clarify the true essence and necessity of the nursing consultation, since so important tool should be used in its entirely. Uso de sistemas construídos de áreas alagadas (Constructed Wetland System - CWS) tipo ascendente/descendente, para tratamento de efluentes avícolas

Human development and population growth during the twentieth century increased the water demand, tripling its consumption between 1950 and 1990. As the water streams were polluted; and as water is the source of minerals and also regulates vital functions, it becomes the vehicle of transmission and consequently spreads many diseases. Probably, the industries are the major responsible for this pollution when they dump untreated effluents to water streams, saturating the already insufficient net of sanitation facilities polluting water and soil. An effective treatment has been established with low cost in Europe and the United States, through constructed systems on wetlands Constructed Wetland Systems - CWSs, gradually used in other countries in the last three decades. Lately, we observe a continuous growth in Brazilian poultry business, and poultry industry showed greatest dynamism in the country, following the global market. Pondering this information and the efficiency of such treatment, this work aimed to study prototypes, in a laboratory scale, simulating ascending and descending types of CWSs, vegetated with aquatic macrophytes Eichhornia crassipes and the uses of aggregates and soil, to treat industrial wastewater from slaughterhouses and aviary. We conducted the initial characterization of the effluent to have an idea of its constituents and to scale the system and the continuous flow. Furthermore, we characterized the soil to be used in this system. Tratamento farmacológico da epilepsia em cães

Seizure is a clinical manifestation of abnormal neuronal hyperactivity of the cerebral cortex, presentation clinical varies according to the location and extent of the brain. The classic seizure begins with an inicial period, named prodrome, followed by the aura, the ictus and finally the post-ictus phase. Seizures can be generalized or focal/partial types. Focal seizures with secondary generalization are the most common type in dogs. The seizure can be divided etiologically in intracraneal (idiopathic epilepsy; sintomatic; probably sintomatic epilepsy) and extracraneal disorders. After determining the etiology of seizures and critical analysis of the frequency, severity, and worry they cause to the owner, you should make the decision whether to launch an anticonvulsant drug therapy. Although the ideal is the elimination of seizures, the real goal should be to decrease the frequency and intensity of crises, without affecting the quality of life of patients taking the drugs used side effects acceptable. The veterinary should consider the bioavailability of the drug, contraindications, toxicity, drug interactions, the amount of daily administration, the availability of the owner and the cost of therapy. Seizures can be controlled in about 70- 80% of the dogs and in the majority of the cats when treated with Phenobarbital alone. Addition of a second drug (usually potassium bromide), decreases the number of seizures in more that 50% in about 70-80% of dogs. However, approximately 20-30% of dogs are refractory to this treatment. Método de pontos interiores no planejamento ótimo do tratamento de câncer por radioterapia

The Medical Physics has been developing very fast due to the progress of the technologies and to the increase of the concerns with cure of diseases. One of the Medical Physics main performances at the present time is the use of ionizing radiations for cancer treatment, especially, services as Radiotherapy. The radiotherapy technique uses ionizing radiation with therapeutic end of cancer controls, avoiding your proliferation and it worsens of the patient. For the treatment a radiation bunch is used, with rectangular form, that it passes through the different types of tissues of the patient's body, and depending on the attenuation and of the depth of the fabrics, a great amount of energy is deposited inside in different points of the body. Like this, to plan this treatment type it should be obtained the dimension of the distribution and dose absorption along the volume. For this, it is necessary in the planning of the treatment of the cancer for radiotherapy to build isodose curves, which are lines that represent points of same amount of dose to be deposited in the area to be treated. To aid the construction of the curves of form isodose to reach the best result in the planning of the treatment, in other words, a great planning, providing the maximum of dose in the tumor and saving the healthy and critical organs, it has been using mathematical tools and computational. A plan of cancer treatment for radiotherapy is considered great when all the parameters that involve the treatment, be them physical or biological, they were investigated and adapted individually for the patient. Colangiohepatite Felina

Cholangiohepatitis is a common hepatic disorder in cats that is second only to hepatic lipidosis in frequency. The cholangitis-cholangiohepatitis complex is known as the diseases that involve the biliar tract inflammation and may extend to the liver. The classification of the cholangiohepatitis is still controversial, in this present study the following classification was used: Acute Cholangiohepatitis, Chronic Cholangiohepatitis, Lymphocitic Cholangitis. The cholangiohepatitis may be associated with pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease, this association is known as feline triaditis. The diagnosis is based on the clinical signs, alterations in laboratory exams and ultrasonography alterations, but the definitive diagnosis is only possible through liver biopsy. The treatment for each type of cholangiohepatitis differs, hence the importance of the right diagnosis. Utilização da acupuntura no tratamento de cães com discopatia intervertebral

The intervertebral disc diseases have a high casuistic in clinical routines veterinary among dogs. These conditions can cause pain, paresis or paralysis of limbs depending on the degree of injury. Clinical signs are not limited to the intervertebral disc, other anatomical parts are included. In conventional medicine, treatment may be surgical or clinical, by the use of corticosteroids with muscle relaxants. Acupuncture was an alternative to treating these diseases due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Although there are few studies for the treatment of discopathies, acupuncture triggers the release of substances such as dynorphins, beta-endorphins and serotonin, among others; that act inhibiting somatic and visceral pain. Electroacupuncture is used to potentiate the effects of acupuncture. It can be performed with different frequencies according to the clinical evolution. However there are different opinions related to the greater efficacy in relation to acupuncture. The restraint and monitoring of the treated animal are important factors for its recovery. The association between acupuncture and conventional treatment (surgical or clinical) achieved better results than acupuncture alone. This proves that acupuncture can be considered an option in order to minimize the complications of surgery or assist in patient recovery

Desenvolvimento de um protocolo de dosimetria para o tratamento de total skin irradiation (TSI)

A técnica radioterápica Total Skin Irradiation (TSI), utilizada para tratamento de Micose Fungóide e doenças similares, apresenta grande complexidade na sua dosimetria e implementação nos Serviços de Radioterapia. No SUS – Sistema Único de Saúde - do Brasil, só há esse tratamento no Serviço de Radioterapia do Hospital das Clínicas da UNICAMP (Campinas) e no Instituto Nacional do Câncer (INCA) (Rio de Janeiro). O objetivo deste trabalho é o estudo e o desenvolvimento de um protocolo de controle de qualidade e dosimetria a ser implementado na técnica utilizada no Serviço de Radioterapia do Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (HC - UNICAMP). Todos os estudos e análises para a elaboração do protocolo foram baseados no Report 23[1] da AAPM – American Association of Physicists in Medicine - e no TRS-398[3] da IAEA – International Atomic Energy Agency. O trabalho se baseia em uma revisão bibliográfica de trabalhos da literatura que abordam o tema adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso. Segundo a Organização Mundial da Saúde, a efetividade do tratamento é caracterizada pela relação estabelecida em uma atmosfera na qual as alternativas terapêuticas são exploradas, o regime terapêutico é negociado, a adesão é discutida e o acompanhamento planejado. Para a manutenção da adesão ao tratamento, o paciente precisa ser esclarecido e auxiliado quanto suas próprias decisões. Além disso, é imprescindível entender as características do indivíduo, do processo de atendimento à saúde e de aspectos referentes aos elementos envolvidos. Portanto, faz-se necessário o conhecimento do farmacêutico sobre a importância da realização de intervenções personalizadas e com divisões de responsabilidades, que juntamente com a mudança de comportamento do profissional de saúde e com a existência de um sistema de saúde que garanta o acesso aos recursos terapêuticos irão contribuir para o aumento da adesão. Neste trabalho, a adesão ao tratamento em doenças crônicas tais como diabetes, epilepsia, hipertensão, tuberculose, e HIV/AIDS é avaliada, assim como as possíveis intervenções que visam o aumento da adesão e, consequentemente, proporcionam uma melhor qualidade de vida para o paciente.

Platinosomíase em felinos domésticos: um diferencial para obstrução biliar

The platinosomiase is a disease the hepatobiliary system of domestic felines being caused by trematode Platynosomum fastosum. The life cycle of the parasite includes the presence of three intermediate hosts (snails, terrestrial isopodes, lizards or frogs). The cat is considered definitive host of the parasite and acquires the infection eating a vertebrate intermediate host containing metacercariae. The adult parasites generally inhabit the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts of cats. The severity of clinical manifestations depends mainly on the number of flukes in the biliary tract. Many animals are asymptomatic or exhibit nonspecific clinical manifestations such as anorexia, lethargy, weight loss, vomiting and diarrhea. In large infestations can occur biliary obstruction resulting in jaundice, cirrhosis, hepatitis cholangiohepatitis and even death. The definitive diagnosis is accomplished through by the detection of fluke eggs in feces or through laparotomy and liver biopsy. Treatment should be based on the use of anthelmintic for the elimination of the parasite and supportive therapy for the animal. Prevention is difficult due to predatory nature of the cat. Consultas de enfermagem com pacientes em tratamento para hepatite C

Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a worldwide problem of public health and who estimates 2.5% to 4.9% of infection by this virus among the population. This means that there are 3.9 to 7.6 million people at risk of developing cirrhosis or liver cancer. In Brazil, 20% to 58% of patients with chronic liver disease have antibodies to HCV (anti-HCV). To characterize the profile of patients undergoing treatment for hepatitis C in the Ambulatory General HC-FMB/UNESP, identify aspects of the disease and the phases of nursing process addressed during consultation. Transverse and descriptive study involving 38 patients undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C in Ambulatory General Area (Viral Hepatitis) in the period from July to September 2010. The population consisted of 38 patients, most of the males with completed higher education level, Catholic, married and aged predominantly between 41 and 60 years. Among the drugs used, we find the use of antihypertensive, antidepressant / anxiolytic and antidiabetic / hypoglycemic. With respect to specific medications used to treat hepatitis C, we found the use mainly of alfapeguinterferona 2b + ribavirin. The drugs used were complementary erythropoietin and filgastrim. There was a predominance of fibrosis 2 (F2) and genotype 1 (G1). Regarding the means of contamination, it was stressed blood transfusion and injection drug use. The most frequent drug reactions were decreased appetite, weight loss and discouragement. : The Nursing Process is considered a valuable tool in caring for patients with hepatitis C, because it works as identifying aspects of lifestyle, needs and potential of these patients and allows the deployment of humanized care strategies aimed at reduction of health hazards and improving the quality of life of these patients
