Ús de revistes electròniques de compra consorciada del CBUC (2000-2003)

Anàlisi de les estadístiques d'ús de revistes electròniques contractades pel Consorci de Biblioteques Universitàries de Catalunya (CBUC) durant el període 2000-2003. Es presenta l'evolució temporal i el grau de dispersió de l'ús com a marc del càlcul i l'avaluació del "guany consorcial", contemplat com el percentatge d'ús dels títols que anteriorment no eren subscrits en suport paper i que han estat contractats gràcies a les economies d'escala de la compra consorciada. El treball s'ha realitzat amb la intenció d'analitzar el període de canvi del suport paper al digital en les col· leccions de les biblioteques membres del CBUC, període en el que encara els usuaris mantenen accés en paper a col· leccions retrospectives i a algunes subscripcions vives, i en el que la comparació amb les col·leccions prèvies en paper es fa amb una proximitat cronològica acceptable.

Ús de revistes electròniques de compra consorciada del CBUC (2003-2005)

El present estudi actualitza i complementa els resultats obtinguts en un treball previ, elaborat l'any 2004, en el qual s'analitzaven les estadístiques d'ús de quatre paquets de revistes electròniques subscrits consorciadament pel CBUC. En aquest treball també s'analitzen les dades de consum de quatre paquets de revistes electròniques al llarg de tres anys: Elsevier (2004 i 2005), Emerald (2005), Kluwer (2003 i 2004) i Wiley (2003, 2004 i 2005).

Material flow accounting of Mexico (1970-2003)

This technical background paper describes the methods applied and data sources used in the compilation of the 1980-2003 data set for material flow accounts of the Mexican economy and presents the data set. It is organised in four parts: the first part gives an overview of the Material Flow Accounting (MFA) methodology. The second part presents the main material flows of the Mexican economy including biomass, fossil fuels, metal ores, industrial minerals and, construction minerals. The aim of this part is to explain the procedures and methods followed, the data sources used as well as providing a brief evaluation of the quality and reliability of the information used and the accounts established. Finally, some conclusions will be provided.

Su objetivo es plantear un conjunto de propuestas de posible desarrollo en el marco del Plan, una vez incorporadas las observaciones, correcciones e ideas aportadas por diversos agentes e instituciones con motivo del diagnóstico previamente realizado y presentado como Libro Verde de la Accesibilidad en España.

Memory in contracts: the experience of the EBRD (1991-2003)

The objective of this paper is to identify the role of memory in repeated contracts with moral hazard in financial intermediation. We use the database we have built containing the contracts signed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD between 1991 and 2003. Our framework is a standard setting of repeated moral hazard. After having controlled for the adverse selection component, we are able to prove that client reputation is the discrimination device according to which the bank fixes the amount of credit for the established clients. Our results unambiguously isolate the effect of memory in the bank's lending decisions.

Evolució del paisatge de l'Horta de Lleida (1956/57-2003): transformació d'un paisatge de secà a regadiu

Els paisatges agraris al llarg del temps s’han transformat i han evolucionat segons les necessitats de la societat d’aquell moment. L’aigua ha estat el principal element transformador en l’agricultura del segle XX, i el cas de l’horta de Lleida, és un clar exemple de com l’aigua ha desenvolupat una agricultura que poc a poc s’ha caracteritzat per tenir majoritàriament cultius de regadiu, tot i ser una de les zones més àrides i amb menys precipitacions de Catalunya, a diferència de les zones de secà, que han anat desapareixen. Quantificar i analitzar els canvis que influeixen en la dinàmica del territori, han estat possibles a partir de l’estudi de fonts documentals històriques, tant escrites com gràfiques, com són els cadastres de rústica, les imatges aèries i els ortofotomapes. Mitjançant aquest valuós recurs històric s’ha pogut detectar i analitzar els principals canvis en els usos del sòl esdevinguts durant el període de 1956 a 2003 en determinades zones de l’horta de Lleida, a més ha servit per estimar les repercussions en el paisatge del consum d’aigua.

Implementation of robotic laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a university hospital.

BACKGROUND: Robot surgery is a further step towards new potential developments in minimally invasive surgery. Surgeons must keep abreast of these new technologies and learn their limits and possibilities. Robot-assisted laparoscopic cholecystectomy has not yet been performed in our institution. The purpose of this report is to present the pathway of implementation of robotic laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a university hospital. METHODS: The Zeus(R) robot system was used. Experimental training was performed on animals. The results of our experimental training allowed us to perform our first two clinical cases. RESULTS: Robot arm set-up and trocar placement required 53 and 35 minutes. Operative time were 59 and 45 minutes respectively. The overall operative time was 112 and 80 minutes, respectively. There were no intraoperative complications. Patients were discharged from the hospital after an overnight stay. CONCLUSION: Robotic laparoscopic cholecystectomy is safe and patient recovery similar to those of standard laparoscopy. At present, there are no advantages of robotic over conventional surgery. Nevertheless, robots have the potential to revolutionise the way surgery is performed. Robot surgery is not reserved for a happy few. This technology deserves more attention because it has the potential to change the way surgery is performed.
