Mit Humboldt nach Bologna! – Grundfragen der Neuordnung von Studiengängen

Wie kann das tradierte deutsche Studiensystem an die neuen Anforderungen angepasst werden, wie sie unter dem Stichwort des Bologna-Prozesses formuliert worden sind? Folgende Aspekte sind hierbei zu beachten: Das Stichwort Internationalität muss unbedingt das Interesse an ausländischen Studierenden einschließen. Das angelsächsische BA-/MA-System kann nur in adaptierter Form, keinesfalls in toto angenommen werden. Studiengänge müssen weiter differenziert werden, zugleich spricht einiges dafür, den Studienverlauf viel stärker als bisher zu strukturieren (nur ein Stichwort: studienbegleitende Prüfungen). Die Einführungen neuer Studienabschlüsse sollte genutzt werden, um das Studium insgesamt stärker an die Wirklichkeit der Berufswelt heranzuführen. Dies führt auch zur notwendigen Frage nach der grundsätzlichen Funktion der geisteswissenschaftlichen Bildung. Gerade die spezifischen Fertigkeiten, die das Geschichtsstudium vermittelt, müssen im Studium gezielt gefördert werden, um die Absolventen für außerwissenschaftliche Berufsfelder zu qualifizieren.

Beispiel Frankreich: Der Bologna-Prozess im Nachbarland

Ausgehend von einer Skizzierung der französischen Hochschullandschaft wird zunächst die Reformdebatte beleuchtet, die vor allem eine stärkere Hierarchisierung des Hochschulsystems, aber auch einen Ausbau und eine Stärkung der Elite-Universitäten diskutiert. Im Weiteren wird das Modell des MA-Studiengangs für Geschichte in Tours vorgestellt. Abschließend werden mögliche Konsequenzen für den deutschen Reformprozess erörtert; folgende Aspekte fallen dabei ins Auge: Die Verschulung der Universität muss in eine stärkere Differenzierung zwischen BA- und MA-Studiengang hinauslaufen, auch die Rolle des Hochschullehrers sollte neu überdacht werden. In Deutschland gibt es allein aufgrund der föderalen Struktur viel mehr Potential für Experimente; hier wie in Frankreich bleibt jedoch die Lehrer-Ausbildung aus dem Reformprozess (vorerst) ausgeklammert. Die Verschulung ist insgesamt als problematisch zu betrachten, vor allem wenn sie bis in die Promotionsphase hineinreicht. Die Elite-Förderung ist in Frankreich sehr viel nachhaltiger organisiert als in Deutschland und prägt in seiner Ausstrahlung viel stärker auch das übrige Bildungssystem, im Positiven wie im Negativen. Nachahmenswert scheint ein Master-Modell, das neben der Spezialisierung auch die Auslandskooperation direkt in den Studiengang integriert.

Social Work Education and Training in Europe and the Bologna Process

A short review of the last three decades shows that social work programmes have developed similarly in (almost) all European countries, both in terms of structural and content-related characteristics. Here I would like to focus on the following aspects: Increased academic focus of training, Generalist programme, International/European orientation. Increased academic focus means that social work programmes have been established at uni-versities or comparable higher education institutions, such as universities of applied sciences. The only exception is France where the approximately 150, generally fairly small colleges and the 14 larger instituts regionaux have a hybrid position between vocational colleges and universities and are roughly comparable to academies.

Social work and the Bologna Process

As social work training in Europe is characterized by progressive 'academisation' it is directly affected by the changes in university structures triggered by the Bologna Process. This means, however, simultaneously that all the ambiguities surrounding social work education, such as the level and rank it has achieved as an independent academic discipline, the relationship between theory and practice and the duality of training patterns at university and non-university institutions, are becoming more starkly apparent and need to be addressed with renewed urgency in practically all countries that have subscribed to the transformation initiative.

Declaration on the Three-Step Test: Where do we go from here?

The “Declaration on a balanced interpretation of the ‘Three-Step Test’” as such cannot solve the problem of lacking limitations; however, it emphasizes that the existing international legislation does not prohibit further amendments to copyright law. Nations that dispose of the political will are in a position to introduce new limitations. In addition, further international agreements focusing on new limitations may be negotiated among those countries that are ready to do so.

Implicit and explicit evaluations: a declaration of dependence

This section presents abstracts of three studies on how consumer choices can be influenced by the name letter effect of brands without decision makers being aware of this influence. The first paper examined whether making brand names similar to consumers' names increases the likelihood that consumers will choose the brand. One prediction is that people will prefer and be more likely to choose products or services whose names prominently feature the letters in their own first or last names. The results showed that subjects' preference rankings and evaluations of name letter matching brands were higher than those of non-name letter matching brands. The second paper tested the possibility of using subliminal priming to activate a concept that a persuasive communicator could take advantage of. To examine the idea, two experiments were presented. In the first experiment, participants' level of thirst were manipulated and then subliminally presented them with either thirst-related words or control words. While the manipulations had no effect on participants' self-reported, conscious ratings of thirst, there was a significant interactive effect of the two factors on how much of the drink provided in the taste test was consumed. In a second, follow up experiment, thirsty participants were subliminally presented with either thirst-related words or control words after which they viewed advertisements for two new sports beverages. In conclusion, the research demonstrates that under certain conditions, subliminal printing techniques can enhance persuasion. The third paper hypothesized that the lack of correlations between implicit and explicit evaluations is due to measurement error.
