Dislipidemia em escolares na rede privada de Belém

FUNDAMENTO: Atualmente, a dislipidemia infanto-juvenil associada a outros agravos não transmissíveis como diabete, hipertensão e obesidade representam um grave problema de saúde pública no Brasil. OBJETIVO: Investigar a prevalência de dislipidemia em crianças e adolescentes da rede particular de ensino na cidade de Belém. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal e prospectivo, no qual foram avaliados 437 escolares pareados por sexo. A faixa etária foi delimitada entre 6 a 19 anos, estratificada em quatro subgrupos (6 a 9 anos; 10 a 12 anos; 13 a 15 anos e 16 a 19 anos). Para obtenção das variáveis antropométricas foram mensurados peso e estatura, para o cálculo do índice de massa corporal; e pregas cutâneas para o cálculo do percentual de gordura. O perfil lipoprotéico sérico foi obtido através da dosagem do colesterol total, triglicerídeo, LDL-colesterol e o HDL-colesterol após 12 horas de jejum, determinado por métodos enzimáticos. RESULTADOS: Do total de escolares analisados 126 (28,8%) apresentaram excesso de peso e 158 (36,2%) índice de adiposidade elevado. As crianças (33,6%) apresentaram maior prevalência de obesidade quando comparadas com os adolescentes (10,1%) (p<0,001). Em relação às características bioquímicas constatou-se que 214 (49%) apresentaram alguma alteração no perfil lipídico e que as crianças e os adolescentes da faixa de 10 a 15 anos foram os grupos etários que apresentaram maiores taxas de dislipidemia (34,6 e 25,5 %), respectivamente. CONCLUSÃO: Esses achados demonstram a importância de se diagnosticar precocemente o possível perfil lipídico, principalmente se este já apresentar associação com outro fator de risco como a obesidade.

The protection and distribution systems for the electrics equipments are really important for the safety of products, process and final users, for an enterprise or even for a residence. For that, it’s necessary the utilization of low voltage switchboards for controlling the feeding of a charge, avoiding any kind of abnormality that can eventually occur. It’s necessary to pay attention in the cubicles conditions, and always verify if they are in accordance to the norms of the product, verifying also any kind of physical damage for the operator and/or users. In this line, the present graduation work analyses the low voltage switchboards in the college, checking if they are attending the actual standards, suggesting some improvements and later making a simulation of the creation of a new panel that reach all the needing in substitution of this actual, through the software Simaris. Using the research and lecture of norms and regulations for verifying the problems, this way we could register the greatest acting failures. These actions are made for becoming aware to the university about the danger in using electrics equipments without a minimum degree of protection, allowed by the law, and attempting to the urgency in changing this fails

Inventário da ictiofauna do alto rio Paraíba do Sul e caracterização molecular das espécies encontradas

The state of São Paulo has four main drainages: Paraná river, Paraíba do Sul river, Ribeira do Iguape river and coastal rivers. The Paraíba do Sul river is born in Sao Paulo and drains an important range of land east of the state. Its ichthyofauna has some similarities and many differences from the continental and coastal drainages which highlights the importance of this study. Surveys conducted in the ichthyofauna of this basin, as in other large river basins in Brazil, is still incomplete. Moreover, there is no consensus about the taxonomic status of many species listed in these surveys. Considering the promising use of DNA barcode as a global system for species identification, the present study is aimed to establishing an inventory of the ichthyofauna of the São Paulo portion of the river Paraíba do Sul and simultaneously build a DNA barcode reference sequence library for fish found. Were obtained and analyzed 354 sequences of the gene cytochrome oxidase c subunit I (COI) belonging to 66 species of São Paulo portion of the Paraíba do Sul river. The average K2P distance between individuals within species of this basin was 0.48%, and 9,87% between species within a genus. Five pairs of species (10 species) showed low levels of interspecific genetic divergence (<2%),but all could be correctly identified. This study showed that the fish species analyzed could be identified efficiently through the use of barcode generating data that can provide information for further studies of this fauna, besides contributing to the global initiative to characterize the species of fish in the world of a molecular point of view. The literature shows that the manager has a key role throughout the process of planning, execution and analysis of the results of the work being of prime importance that all steps have its due attention in order to avoid any technical problems or lack information. Drivers of change in animal protein production systems: changes from 'traditional' to 'modern' beef cattle production systems in Brazil

Until 1990, beef cattle production in Brazil was recognized as an enterprise of low investment, low cost of production, as well as an extensive production system that used large land areas to be economically feasible. The situation changed for the Brazilian beef market when the economy stabilized in 1994 and all sectors involved in the beef supply chain were able to predict their associated costs and profits. During the same period, purchasing power of the Brazilian population grew, and as a consequence, consumers began to demand higher quality beef products. This new scenario in the late 1990s and early 2000s has led to more intensive beef production systems in Brazil as well as the need for a greater understanding of how technologies might be applied. As consequence of this evolution, in the last five years, a necessity to increase beef production has occurred. The quality of Brazilian beef has improved compared with beef produced 15 years ago, but continued improvements are needed to achieve excellence in terms of large-scale production of high quality beef, be sustainable over a long period of time, and increase our contribution to global food security.

The civil construction sector in Brazil is, simultaneously, a necessity that drives the economy and an evil that degrades the environment. Simple choices adopted in an enterprise can make big difference in harm caused by constructive practices, minimizing its harmful to the environment and making it sustainable. These choices, however, involve the use of materials and techniques often unknown by the builders, since the construction industry is very traditional. Even worse, the eco-friendly materials and sustainable techniques also face another obstacle to its use: the prejudice. Builders and customers prefer traditional methods to sustain belief that they present lower quality and higher price. This work raises awareness of the urgency with traditional methods must be overridden, showing practical and simple ways for this replacement, as well as confirm the quality equal to or even higher in the use of alternative materials and techniques, without addition in cost. Thus, the benefits are generated for all parties involved, from builders to residents
