As an IT organization supporting services consumed by every agency of the State of Iowa (State), our key enterprise initiatives are conducted in addition to the day-to-day support activities required to keep government IT services operational and secure. These initiatives maintain alignment with key efficiency goals established by Governor Branstad and with specific legislative mandates.

South Carolina Office of the State Treasurer Department of Internal Audit Policies and Procedures Manual

The purpose of this project is to develop a Policy and Procedures Manual as a written guidance for applicable and required procedures to identify processes which will improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance process through the Department of Internal Audit of the South Carolina Office of the State Treasurer's Internal Audit functions.

Exciton-Plasmon States in Nanoscale Materials: Breakdown of the Tamm-Dancoff Approximation

Within the Tamm-Dancoff approximation, ab initio approaches describe excitons as packets of electron-hole pairs propagating only forward in time. However, we show that in nanoscale materials excitons and plasmons hybridize, creating exciton-plasmon states where the electron-hole pairs oscillate back and forth in time. Then, as exemplified by the trans-azobenzene molecule and the carbon nanotubes, the Tamm-Dancoff approximation yields errors larger than the accuracy claimed in ab initio calculations. Instead, we propose a general and efficient approach that avoids the Tamm-Dancoff approximation, correctly describes excitons, plasmons, and exciton-plasmon states, and provides a good agreement with experimental results.

An entry strategy with innovation and differentiation in Brazil and the United States

With the global rise of credit and debit card usage, acquirers play an increasingly important role within the payments industry by processing these types of payment transactions on behalf of merchants. This study focuses on examining two markets – Brazil and the United States – by providing an overview of the market dynamics, the state of the competitive landscape, and the role and impact of regulations and new technologies. In considering these factors, strategic recommendations are provided for new players interested in enter either market. Further, factors such as existing and future opportunities as well as risks are considered.
