L’objectiu és proporcionar a la població de l’àrea d’estudi (Girona i municipis propers), eines i vies necessàries per tal que puguin ser eficients energèticament i efectius en la seva mobilitat quotidiana. Es crea un mapa d’aptitud per determinar la connexió idònia entre la ciutat de Girona i els municipis inclosos en l’àrea d’estudi mitjançant una xarxa de vies ciclistes, s’analitza el mapa d’aptitud amb la xarxa actual i futura de vies ciclistes, es proposen nous carrils bici per tal d’unir zones exemptes de vies ciclables i s’analitza l’opció de combinar el transport públic (tren i autobús) amb la bicicleta. Per definir la xarxa s’utilitza el programa SIG, considerant uns determinats paràmetres, en un radi de 15 km des de l’Ajuntament de Girona i es compara amb la xarxa de vies ciclables actuals i les propostes de futur. The growth history of two populations of snowball garnet from the Lukmanier Pass area (central Swiss Alps) was examined through a detailed analysis of three-dimensional geometry, chemical zoning and crystallographic orientation. The first population, collected in the hinge of a chevron-type fold, shows an apparent rotation of 360 degrees. The first 270 degrees are characterized by spiral-shaped inclusion trails, gradual and concentric Mn zoning and a single crystallographic orientation, whereas in the last 90 degrees, crenulated inclusion trails and secondary Mn maxima centred on distinct crystallographic garnet domains are observed. Microstructural, geochemical and textural data indicate a radical change in growth regime between the two growth sequences. In the first 270 degrees, growth occurred under rotational non-coaxial flow, whereas in the last 90 degrees, garnet grew under a non-rotational shortening regime. The second population, collected in the limb of the same chevron-type fold structure, is characterized by a spiral geometry that does not exceed 270 degrees of apparent rotation. These garnet microstructures do not record any evidence for a modification of the stress field during garnet growth. Concentric Mn zoning as well as a single crystallographic orientation are observed for the entire spiral. Electron backscatter diffraction data indicate that nearly all central domains in the snowball garnet are characterized by one [001] axis oriented (sub-)parallel to the symmetry axis and by another [001] axis oriented (sub-)parallel to the orientation of the internal foliation. These features suggest that the crystallographic orientation across the garnet spiral is not random and that a relation exists among the symmetry axis, the internal foliation and the crystallographic orientation.

SUMMARY : Detailed knowledge of the different components of the immune system is required for the development of new immunotherapeutic strategies. CD4 T lymphocytes represent a highly heterogeneous group of cells characterized by various profiles of cytokine production and effector vs. regulatory functions. They are central players in orchestrating adaptive immune responses: unbalances between the different subtypes can lead either to aggressive autoimmune disorders or can favour the uncontrolled growth of malignancies. In this study we focused on the characterization of human CD4 T cells in advanced stage melanoma patients as well as in patients affected by various forms of autoimmune inflammatory spondyloarthropathies. In melanoma patients we report that a population of FOXP3 CD4 T cells, known as regulatory T cells, is overrepresented in peripheral blood, and even more in tumor-infitrated lymph nodes as well as at tumor sites, as compared to healthy donors. In tumor-infiltrated lymph nodes, but not in normal lymph nodes or in peripheral blood, FOXP3 CD4 T cells feature a highly differentiated phenotype (CD45RA-CCR7+/-), which suggests for a recent encounter with their cognate antigen. FOXP3 CD4 T cells have been described to be an important component of the several known immune escape mechanisms. We demonstrated that FOXP3 CD4 T cells isolated from melanoma patients exert an in vitro suppressive action on autologous CD4 T cells, thus possibly inhibiting an efficient anti-tumor response. Next, we aimed to analyse CD4 T cells at antigen-specific level. In advanced stage melanoma patients, we identified for the first time, using pMHCII multimers, circulating CD4 T cells specific for the melanoma antigen Melan-A, presented by HLA-DQB1 *0602. Interestingly, in a cohort of melanoma patients enrolled in an immunotherapy trails consisting of injection of a Melan-A derived peptide, we did not observe signif cant variations in the ex vivo frequencies of Melan-A specific CD4 T cells, but important differences in the quality of the specific CD4 T cells. In fact, up to 50% of the ex vivo Melan-A/DQ6 specific CD4 T cells displayed a regulatory phenotype and were hypoproliferative before vaccination, while more effector, cytokine-secreting Melan-A/DQ6 specific CD4 T cells were observed after immunization. These observations suggest that peptide vaccination may favourably modify the balance between regulatory and effector tumor-specific CD4 T cells. Finally, we identified another subset of CD4 T cells as possible mediator of pathology in a group of human autoimmune spondyloarthropathies, namely Th17 cells. These cells were recently described to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of some marine models of autommunity. We document an elevated presence of circulating Th17 cells in two members of seronegative spondyloarthropathies, e.g. psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, while we do not observe increased frequencies of Th17 cells in peripheral blood of rheumatoid arthritic patients. In addition, Th17 cells with a more advanced differentiation state (CD45RA-CCR7-CD27-) and polyfunctionality (concomitant secretion of IL-17, IL-2 and TNFα) were observed exclusively in patients with seronegative spondylarthropathies. Together, our observations emphasize the importance of CD4 T cells in various diseases and suggest that immunotherapeutic approaches considering CD4 T cells as targets should be evaluated in the future.

Manual de buenas prácticas y responsabilidades estatales y de las agencias de Cooperación Internacional con las personas Lesbianas, Gais, Bisexuales y Transexuales1 en África Esta comunicación girará en torno al trabajo que realiza Kasha Nabagesera, presidenta de Freedom and Roam Uganda, donde la homosexualidad es ilegal y actualmente se encuentra en revisión para ser cambiada por la pena de muerte; Alice Nkom, presidenta de la Association pour la Défense de l’Homosexualité – Camerún, donde la homosexualidad es ilegal con cárcel de hasta 7 años y Claudia Rodrígues, directora, del Instituto Cabo-verdiano para a Igualdade e Equidade do Género, representa la cara amable de África hacia la “Homoafectividade”. “Triple discriminación: mujer, negra y lesbiana” formó parte de la I Conferencia de Derechos Humanos de las personas LGBT en África organizada por la Fundación Triángulo el 8 y 9 de abril de 2010 en Tenerife - España. Con esta ponencia pretendemos presentar el Manual de buenas prácticas y responsabilidades estatales y de las agencias de Cooperación Internacional con las personas Lesbianas, Gais, Bisexuales y Transexuales (LGBT) en África.

En un moment en que Catalunya i, sobretot, la regió metropolitana de Barcelona, experimenta un procés d'ocupació del territori sense precedents, es especialment important avançar en l'estudi dels possibles connectors existents, el seu reconeixement i la seva delimitació en el planejament territorial, El 13 de juliol de 2004 es va signar i fer públic el Manifest de Sant Celoni pel reconeixement de les vies verdes del Vallès. En aquest manifest es demana, entre altres mesures, el reconeixement i la delimitació en el planejament territorial de 7 grans vies verdes: Obac-Olorda, Sant Llorenç-Collserola, Farell-Marina, Gallifa-Gallecs, Tagamanent-Cellecs, Calma-Corredor, Montseny-Montnegre. Totes aquestes vies exerceixen funcions de connexió ecològica i paisatgística entre les serralades Litoral i Prelitoral i, juntament amb altres espais menys urbanitzats que hi ha al peu de la serralada Prelitoral, integren el sistema d'espais oberts del Vallès. Aquesta ponència presenta, en primer lloc, el marc conceptual on s'inscriu el concepte via verda. En segon lloc, explica els principals antecedents en relació amb les vies verdes del Vallès que apareixen en el Manifest de Sant Celoni, i, finalment l’encaix de les vies verdes del Vallès en el planejament territorial de la regió metropolitana de Barcelona, així com les principals línies estratègiques que es podrien seguir per convertir-les en una realitat

The Iowa Transportation Improvement Program (Program) is published to inform Iowans of planned investments in our state's transportation system. The Iowa Transportation Commission (Commission) and Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) are committed to programming those investments in a fiscally responsible manner. Iowa's transportation system is multi-modal; therefore, the Program encompasses investments in aviation, transit, railroads, trails, and highways. A major component of the Program is the highway section. The FY2009-2013 highway section is financially balanced and was developed to achieve several objectives. The Commission's primary highway investment objective is the safety, maintenance and preservation of Iowa's existing highway system. The Commission has allocated an annual average of $321 million to achieve this objective. This includes $185 million in 2009 and $170 million annually in years 2010-2013 for preserving the interstate system. It includes $114 million in 2009, $100 million in 2010 and $90 million annually in years 2011-2013 for non-interstate pavement preservation. It includes $38 million annually in 2009 and 2010, and $35 million annually in years 2011-2013 for non-interstate bridges. In addition, $15 million annually is allocated for safety projects. However, due to increasing construction costs, flattened revenues and overall highway systems needs, the Commission acknowledges that insufficient funds are being invested in the maintenance and preservation of the existing highway system. Another objective involves investing in projects that have received funding from the federal transportation act and/or subsequent federal transportation appropriation acts. In particular, funding is being used where it will complete a project, corridor or useable segment of a larger project. As an investment goal, the Commission also wishes to advance highway projects that address the state's highway capacity and economic development needs. Projects that address these needs and were included for completion in the previous program have been advanced into this year's Program to maintain their scheduled completion. This program also includes a small number of other projects that generally either represent a final phase of a partially programmed project or an additional segment of a partially completed corridor. The TIME-21 bill, Senate File 2420, signed by Governor Chet Culver on April 22, provides additional funding to cities, counties and the Iowa DOT for road improvements. This will result in additional revenue to the Primary Road Fund beginning in the second half of FY2009 and gradually increase over time. The additional funding will be included in future highway programming objectives and proposals and is not reflected in this highway program. The Iowa DOT and Commission appreciate the public's involvement in the state's transportation planning process. Parasitoids of the family Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera) were obtained during an inventory of Lepidoptera larvae caught feeding in the wild on Croton floribundus (Euphorbiaceae). The Lepidoptera larvae were collected from host plants along trails inside three preserved forest areas in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Fifteen different species of Ichneumonidae belonging to five subfamilies (Banchinae, Campopleginae, Cremastinae, Mesochorinae and Metopiinae) were obtained. Seven species of Ichneumonidae were reared from leaf rollers: Meniscomorpha sp. (Banchinae) and Leurus caeruliventris (Cresson) (Metopiinae) from Dichomeris sp. (Gelechiidae); Mesochorus sp.1 (Mesochorinae) [as a parasitoid of Hypomicrogaster sp. (Braconidae, Microgastrinae)], Campoplex sp. (Campopleginae) and Leurus sp. from Olethreutinae sp. (Tortricidae); Sphelodon annulicornis Morley (Banchinae) and Eutanygaster brevipennis Cameron (Cremastinae) were also reared from two unidentified species of Gelechiidae. The other eight species were reared from the larvae of exposed feeders: Diradops sp. (Banchinae) from Miselia albipuncta Hampson (Noctuidae), Casinaria sp. (Campopleginae) from Hymenomima conia Prout (Geometridae), Charops sp. (Campopleginae) from Bagisara paulensis Schaus (Noctuidae) and Oxydia vesulia (Cramer) (Geometridae), two species of Hyposoter Förster (Campopleginae) from Semaeopus sp. (Geometridae) and H. conia, two species of Microcharops Roman (Campopleginae) from B. paulensis and an unidentified species of Limacodidae and Mesochorus sp. 2 [reared from what was probably Aleiodes sp. (Braconidae, Rogadinae)] from an unidentified species of Noctuidae.

We report 21 new polymorphic microsatellite markers in the European barn owl (Tyto alba). The polymorphism of the reported markers was evaluated in a population situated in western Switzerland and in another from Tenerife, Canary Islands. The number of alleles per locus varies between two and 31, and expected heterozygosity per population ranges from 0.16 to 0.95. All loci are in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and no linkage disequilibrium was detected. Two loci exhibit a null allele in the Tenerife population.

The Iowa Department of Transportation received funds from the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund, the State Recreational Trails Fund, Health Restricted Capitals, Rail Revolving Loan and Grant Program and the Tobacco settlement in FY 2008.

Diversity and aspects of the ecology of social wasps (Vespidae, Polistinae) in Central Amazonian "terra firme" forest. The knowledge of social wasp richness and biology in the Amazonian region is considered insufficient. Although the Amazonas state is the largest in the region, until now only two brief surveys were conducted there. Considering that the systematic inventory of an area is the first step towards its conservation and wise use, this study presents faunal data on social wasp diversity in a 25 km² area of "terra firme" (upland forest) at the Ducke Reserve, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Wasps were collected in the understory, following a protocol of three collectors walking along 60 trails 1,000 m in extension for 16 days between August and October 2010. Methods used were active search of individuals with entomological nets and nest collecting. Fifty-eight species of social wasps, allocated in 13 genera, were recorded; 67% of the collected species belong to Polybia, Agelaia and Mischocyttarus; other genera were represented by only four species or less. The most frequent species in active searches were Agelaia fulvofasciata (DeGeer, 1773), Agelaia testacea (Fabricius, 1804) and Angiopolybia pallens (Lepeletier, 1836). Twelve species were collected in nests. Prior to this study, 65 Polistinae species were deposited at the INPA Collection. Collecting in the study grid, an area not previously sampled for wasps, resulted in an increase of 25% species, and species richness was 86. According to the results, there is evidence that the diversity of social wasps at the Ducke Reserve is even higher, making it one of the richest areas in the Brazilian Amazonia.

Este trabalho, que obedece aos requisitos parciais para a obtenção do grau de mestre em História Contemporânea na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, enquadra-se no campo da História Local, incidindo sobre o Porto Grande na Ilha de S. Vicente de Cabo Verde, no período compreendido entre 1850 a 1914. Procurar-se-á, à luz da documentação disponível, analisar a importância do porto para a afirmação da urbe, numa altura em que por força da Revolução Industrial o barco a vapor entrou nos mares do mundo e revolucionou o sistema de transportes. Nessa altura, S. Vicente, que até então mantinha- se deserta de gente, é elegida por hidrógrafos ingleses que procuravam um porto seguro onde pudessem instalar as suas companhias carvoeiras para abastecer os seus navios na rota do Atlântico Médio. Foi só por essa altura que o povoamento da ilha tornou-se possível, e a dinâmica do seu crescimento uma realidade, impulsionada pelo porto e sob uma forte influência inglesa. Este ritmo de desenvolvimento começou, porém, a decair nos finais do séc. XIX, altura em que o Porto Grande começa a sofrer uma forte concorrência por parte dos portos de Las Palmas e de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, no Arquipélago das Canárias, agravada ainda mais no inicio do séc. XX, quando, por altura da 1ª Grande Guerra, o Porto Grande do Mindelo também é sulcado por navios das potências beligerantes, envolvidas no conflito.
