O município de Franca-SP situa-se na Província Geomorfológica das Cuestas Basálticas no nordeste paulista, a qual possui características ambientais próprias. De uma forma geral, a região de Franca enfrenta problemas ambientais como a suscetibilidade à erosão linear e laminar, aos movimentos de massa e ao assoreamento dos canais de drenagem. Estes problemas, por sua vez, induzem a situações socioeconômicas, como o incremento da pobreza, aglomeração urbana e, uma emergente demanda da sociedade por mudanças no âmbito da gestão local. Assim, devem ser efetuados estudos detalhados sobre o meio, a fim de minimizar e/ou evitar tais problemas. Desta forma, propos-se a realização do Zoneamento Geoambiental, o que implica no levantamento, análise, interpretação e correlação dos diferentes componentes ambientais, visando dar subsídio a órgãos públicos e proprietários rurais, tanto na fase de planejamento como na implantação de culturas agrícolas, pecuária, reflorestamento e uso da água superficial (lençol freático), de maneira racional e ambientalmente sustentável, garantindo assim a ocupação adequada do solo e a melhor conservação dos recursos naturais. O trabalho iniciou-se com a organização e reinterpretação dos dados pré-existentes (topográficos, geológicos, pedológicos, geomorfológicos, morfoestruturais, de coberturas de alteração intempérica e sócio-econômicos) e geração e/ou reorganização de novos dados e propostas para a minimização dos impactos sócio-ambientais (rede de drenagem, hipsométricos, morfométricos, tectônicos, geológicos, geomorfológicos, climáticos e bióticos) com a utilização de técnicas de fotointerpretação de diversos sensores remotos e de campo. The aim of this experiment was evaluate the effect of the bioestimulant administered in grafted and non-grafted japanese cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) plants, under greenhouse conditions, in gas exchanges during the development of the plant and in the increase of yield. The experiment was carried out in the experimental area of Agronomic Sciences University of UNESP, Campus of Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. The experiment design was completely randomized, in a factorial arrangement of 2x5, grafted and non-grafted plants and 5 treatments with bioestimulant: control, indolbutyric acid 0,0005% + citocinine 0,0009% + gibberelic acid 0,005% 250 mL ha-1; indolbutyric acid 0,0005% + citocinine 0,0009% + gibberelic acid 0,005% 375 mL ha-1; indolbutyric acid 0,0005% + citocinine 0,0009% + gibberelic acid 0,005% 500 mL ha-1; Yuca extract (Yucca elephantipes) + manganese + iron + copper + sulfur 375 mL ha-1 applied 15 days after the transplant, in intervals of 7 days between the applications, via leaf. The effect of the treatments were evaluated through the observations of the following characteristics: production of fruits (number and mass), average mass of the fruit and measures of gas exchanges. It can be concluded that indolbutyric acid 0,0005% + citocinine 0,0009% + gibberelic acid 0,005% 250 mL ha-1 increased CO2 assimilation rate and the water efficiency, influencing in addition to increase the quantity of the fruits

The present study addresses the application of the Environmental Management System in chicken production on a farm owned by the Nardo brothers, located in the city of Guapiaçu/SP (Brazil). The objectives were to analyze the process of solid waste generation, destination and forms of treatment in this activity; propose measures to reduce the use of potable water for non-potable ends; determine other measures identified through a questionnaire drafted by Embrapa (Brazilian Agriculture Research Cooperative) and administered to employees who have direct involvement in the productive process; pay visits to chicken production enterprises; and employ the guidelines proposed by the National Fowl-Breeding Sanitation Program that guide the application of the Environmental Management System. Adequate management of waste was put into effect through the construction of a compost shed capable of meeting current production demands, in which all procedures were accompanied – from civil construction to the commercialization process of the organic fertilizer generated. The rain-gathering system for the roofs of the pens proposed to reduce the consumption of potable ground water destined for washing the floors of the pens was completely dimensioned and budgeted, allowing the motivated owners to place the project into effect in a timely fashion. Other simpler but no less important proposals were also made in order to bring the production up to the required quality standards.

The aim of this study was to adapt the methodology of the accelerated aging and electrical conductivity tests for determination of physiological potential in crambe seeds. Six seed lots of crambe (cv. FMS Brilhante) were subjected to determination of moisture content, germination test, first count germination, emergence, and emergence speed index. For the accelerated aging test, the traditional methodology was used with water, and with a saturated potassium chloride and sodium chloride solution in three periods of exposure (24, 48, and 72 hours) at 41 degrees C; the electrical conductivity test was performed with four pre-soaking treatments (0, 2, 4, and 8 hours) and four soaking periods (4, 8, 16, and 24 hours) at 25 degrees C. The accelerated aging test with water for 72 hours and the electrical conductivity test with 2 hours of pre-soaking and assessment after 16 hours were effective for classification of the crambe seed lots in regard to physiological quality.
