A novel InGaAs(LT-In0.25 Ga0.75 As) absorber grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition at low temperature is presented.Using it as well as an output coupler,passive mode locking,which produces pulses as short as several hundred picoseconds for diode-end-pumped NdYAG laser at 1.06m,is realized.The pulse frequency is 150MHz.

Stable continuous-wave passive mode-locking of diode-end-pumped Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:YAG lasers withsemiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAMs) are reported. The comparative study shows that theNd:GdVO4 crystal is efficient to decrease the Q-switched mode-locking tendency, and easier to continuous-wave (CW) mode lock than Nd:YAG.

A passive Q-switched flash-lamp-pumped Nd:YAG laser with the ion-implanted semi-insulating GaAs water is reportedThe wafer is implanted with 400keV As~+ ions in the concentration of 10~(16)cm~(-2). Using GaAs wafer as an absorber and an output coupler62ns pulse duration of single pulse is obtained.

Design of the typical laser diode side-pumped Nd:YAG rod system has been discussed using the conventional ray tracing method in this paper. Firstly introduce two basic matrices, refractional and translational matrix, described the transmission of nonparaxial light ray in the medium without concerning the absorption of light. And then, using those matrices, analyze the distribution of pump light in the crystal respectively under the condition of directly pumped system and indirectly pumped system with a cylindrical quartz rod as focusing lens. From the result of simulation, we compare the advantage and disadvantage of the two pumped method, and mainly consider how to select the diameter of the focus lens and cooling tube, indicate the effect of deionized water and cooling tube have on the pump light distribution in the active material. At last, make some conclusions about the side-pumped Nd:YAG laser system.

Mossbauer spectra for Fe atoms in the series of R3Fe29-xVx (R = Y, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, and Dy) compounds were collected at 4.2 K. The ratio of 14.5 T/mu(B) between the average hyperfine field B-hf and the average Fe magnetic moment mu(Fe)(MS), obtained from our data, in Y3Fe29-xVx is in agreement with that deduced from the RxTy alloys by Gubbens et al. The average Fe magnetic moments mu(Fe)(MS) in these compounds at 4.2 K, deduced from our Mossbauer spectroscopic studies, are in accord with the results of magnetization measurement. The average hyperfine field of the Fe sites for R3Fe29-xVx at 4.2 K increases with increasing values of the rare earth effective spin (g(J) - 1) J, which indicates that there exists a transferred spin polarization induced by the neighboring rare earth atom.
