Compreendendo o significado da liderança para o aluno de graduação em enfermagem: uma abordagem fenomenológica

This study aimed at understanding the meaning of leadership to undergraduate nursing students and the expectation related to their professional practice. Phenomenology was used as theoretical framework. Fifteen undergraduate nursing students were recruited as subjects and answered the following question: What do you understand by leadership, and how can it be applied in your professional practice? The topics which were revealed and analyzed, Leadership Styles and Leadership Exercise, enabled us to understand that the meaning attributed to leadership is unveiled as a dynamic process, and the style adopted is the form to lead a team; therefore, an ideal leadership style does not exist. In teaching, the leadership style began to be discussed when the participant forms of personnel management were approached. In leadership practice, the dissociation between leadership theory and practice is emphasized, pointing out that integration with practice is relevant for leadership learning.

Translation and cultural adaptation for Brazil of the Developing Nurses' Thinking model

OBJETIVOS:traduzir e adaptar culturalmente para a língua portuguesa do Brasil o modelo Developing Nurses' Thinking, utilizado como estratégia ao ensino do raciocínio clínico.MÉTODO:a tradução e adaptação cultural foi realizada por meio de tradução inicial, síntese das traduções, retrotradução, avaliação por comitê de especialistas e pré-teste com 33 estudantes de graduação em enfermagem.RESULTADOS:as etapas de tradução inicial, síntese das traduções e retrotradução foram realizadas a contento, havendo a necessidade de pequenos ajustes. Na avaliação pelo comitê de especialistas da versão traduzida, todos os itens obtiveram concordância superior a 80% na primeira rodada de avaliação e no pré-teste com os estudantes. O modelo mostrou-se adequado à sua finalidade.CONCLUSÃO:recomenda-se o uso do modelo como uma estratégia complementar ao ensino do raciocínio diagnóstico, visando a formação de enfermeiros mais conscientes sobre a tarefa diagnóstica e a importância da segurança do paciente.

Experiência discente com o cuidado a paciente portador de Epidermodisplasia Verruciforme

Report of an experience of nursing students in providing care to a patient with epidermodysplasia verruciformis, during the internship in the discipline Nursing in Transmittable Diseases, at the dermatology ward of a teaching hospital, located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2009. This is a rare genodermatosis, susceptible to infection with different types of human papilloma viruses, that cause exacerbated physical changes that impact the psyche of the affected individual. Care delivery was based on the assistance complexity indicated by the application of the Patient Classification System proposed by Perroca. The experience allowed students to learn how to cope with a patient affected by a rare and complex disease, of difficult resolution, and to provide integral care to this individual, perceiving him beyond the lesions. One conclude that the experience has greatly contributed to the growth of the students as future professionals.

Informatização na educação em saúde: avaliação de site educacional

Health education presently experiences the incorporation of information technology, thus making access to information more practical and attainable. The initiatives to make health care scientific content available virtually have shown to be useful for teaching, health care professionals and the general population. A website, however, must be constantly managed. To promote the dissemination of the website at www.educacaoemsaude.fmb.unesp.br among faculty members and undergraduate nursing students and students at Escola Técnica de Enfermagem (Vocational Nursing School) - ETE, by evaluating, among them, its graphic and functional aspects and seeking suggestions for its improvement. This is a descriptive quantitative study for which the participants were asked to fill out an instrument designed for the study. The evaluation was performed among nursing faculty members and students at Univ Estadual Paulista Júlio Mesquita Filho – UNESP and students at Escola Técnica de Enfermagem (Vocational Nursing School) – ETEC in the city of Botucatu. The number of participants totaled 88 individuals, of whom 23 were undergraduate students, 62 were students at ETEC, and 3 were faculty members. Eighty-one were females, and 7 were males. The participants’ age ranged from 17 to 56 years. Among the items that evaluated the website, the answers prevailed from “very good” to “good”. When the participants were asked what they had thought about the website, the answers were mostly positive, and the most frequently description given was “interesting”. Among the facilities, the most frequently reported was “easily understood content”, and as regards difficulties, handling the website was the most often mentioned. Representações de gênero na prática de enfermagem na perspectiva de estudantes

This study’s main goal was to investigate the representations of nursing students about the work of a nurse in a gender perspective, during the training process. The research used a sample of 41 nursing students (1st and 9th semesters) being applied to such a questionnaire, analyzed in the face of the organizer model concept, and also the critics studies of gender. Was found the research data, one is able to notice that, students that start off their academic lives in the nursing course have less stereotyped representations regarding gender behavior and certain problematization concerning the sexual division of the profession. When it comes to training, from the moment in which these students begin to live with the nursing practices, that are impregnated with stereotypes, in different contexts, the vision that once was considered generalizing, becomes crystallized, delimiting the practices that exist in nursing. The data points out to the need of the training courses to embark a problematization on the gender relations in the context of the nursing practices, given the fact they seem to reinforce standards, neglecting an egalitarian democratic and professional action in the professional field.

THE DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF SOFTWARE TO VERIFY DIAGNOSTIC ACCURACY

This article describes the development and evaluation of software that verifies the accuracy of diagnoses made by nursing students. The software was based on a model that uses fuzzy logic concepts, including PERL, the MySQL database for Internet accessibility, and the NANDA-I 2007-2008 classification system. The software was evaluated in terms of its technical quality and usability through specific instruments. The activity proposed in the software involves four stages in which students establish the relationship values between nursing diagnoses, defining characteristics/risk factors and clinical cases. The relationship values determined by students are compared to those of specialists, generating performance scores for the students. In the evaluation, the software demonstrated satisfactory outcomes regarding the technical quality and, according to the students, helped in their learning and may become an educational tool to teach the process of nursing diagnosis.
