O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da utilização do bioestimulante Stimulate® em plantas de pimentão enxertadas e não enxertadas, em ambiente protegido, no aumento de produção. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados, no esquema fatorial 2 x 6, referente a plantas enxertadas e pé-franco e seis doses do Stimulate® (0; 75; 100; 125; 150 e 175 mL p.c. 100 L H2O-1), com quatro repetições. Realizaram-se sete aplicações foliares, quinzenais, do bioestimulante a partir do início do florescimento das plantas e avaliou-se o número total de frutos comerciais produzidos, comprimento, calibre, espessura de parede, massa média e produtividade final, totalizando treze colheitas. As plantas enxertadas foram mais produtivas em relação às plantas pé-franco, produzindo frutos de características agronômicas superiores. No geral, 100 e 125-150 mL p.c. 100 L H2O-1 de Stimulate® promovem incremento na produção de pimentão enxertado e pé-franco, respectivamente.

The study deals with the pedagogical possibilities of text books as a resource for Physical Education (PE) classes based on sports, specifically team sports. It started from a bibliographical review on the cited terms and after that we advanced our studies in order to propose a didactic text book on Team Sports for PE classes considering two benchmarks: one technical-tactic and the other social-educational. In order to do so, we used methods from linguistics, and the development of a Didactic Sequence allowed the selection and distribution of the contents to be presented in the book in an orderly and judicious way. The focus in Team Sports is justified by its social-cultural insertion and by the need to transform recent studies into new pedagogical procedures for practicing them. The didactic text book, as well as the adequate preparation of the professionals who will use it, is pointed out as facilitator in the process of teaching, experiencing and learning team sports.

Os objetivos deste trabalho foram selecionar progênies superiores de soja e avaliá-las, em casa de vegetação, quanto à resistência ao nematóide tipo 3 de cisto da soja (Heterodera glycines). Foram avaliadas 222 progênies segregantes de soja, em ensaios conduzidos em campo, nos anos 1999/2000, 2000/2001 e 2001/2002, sob delineamento de blocos aumentados de Federer, e no ano 2002/2003 em blocos ao acaso, com duas repetições, tendo sido avaliados dez atributos agronômicos. No ano de 2003 foi conduzido em casa de vegetação um ensaio com 11 progênies superiores, para a avaliação de resistência ao nematóide de cisto, adotando-se delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com cinco repetições. Com relação aos atributos agronômicos, as progênies JAB 99-17-4-9-1 e JAB 99-40-12-1-2 destacaram-se das demais por possuir médias adequadas para a maioria dos atributos. Por sua vez, na avaliação de resistência em casa de vegetação, seis progênies revelaram-se resistentes ao nematóide de cisto da soja tipo 3.

Foram utilizados 38 tourinhos com idade inicial entre 426 e 462 dias e final entre 751 e 781 dias das raças Nelore, Guzerá, Gir e Caracu, subdivididos em sete grupos genéticos conforme o método de seleção, com o objetivo de comparar o desenvolvimento reprodutivo, avaliado pelas características físicas e morfológicas do sêmen (volume, aspecto, turbilhonamento, motilidade progressiva e vigor, morfologia e concentração espermáticas), em 11 colheitas com intervalos de 29 dias. Os touros dos grupos Nelore seleção (NeS, n=6), Nelore tradicional (NeT, n=9) e Caracu seleção (CaS, n=6), com 415, 430 e 419kg de peso, respectivamente, apresentaram diferenças em todas as características quando comparados com o Nelore controle (NeC, n=4), com 302kg de peso, na segunda colheita, e este foi o único a diferir dos outros seis grupamentos na décima primeira colheita (P<0,05). Foram registradas diferenças na motilidade progressiva média dos espermatozóides na terceira colheita entre o grupamento CaS (68,3%) e o Guzerá tradicional (GuT, n=5) (10,0%), assim como entre o CaS (76,7%) e o NeS (45,0%) na quarta colheita (P<0,05). Não foram registradas diferenças no total de defeitos de espermatozóides nas segunda e última colheitas. Com base na morfologia espermática pode-se concluir que os tourinhos dos grupos genéticos NeT, CaS, Gir Seleção (GiS, n=4), Guzerá Seleção (GuS, n=4), NeC, GuT e NeS alcançaram a maturidade sexual com idades de 547, 532, 578, 544, 547, 572 e 600 dias, e pesos corporais de 430, 440, 389, 420, 336, 451 e 438kg, respectivamente.

The Fortaleza de Minas Ni-Cu-PGE sulfide deposit is hosted by Archean komatiitic rocks of the Morro do Ferro greenstone belt, near the southwestern margin of the Sa (aFrancisco) over tildeo Francisco craton, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The deposit contains 6 million tonnes of ore with an average grade of 2.2 wt% Ni, 0.4% Cu, 0.05% Co and 1.2 ppm PGE+Au, and comprises (i) a main orebody, which is metamorphosed, deformed and transposed along a regional shear zone, consisting mainly of disseminated, brecciated and stringer sulfide ores that are interpreted to be of early magmatic origin, and (ii) PGE-rich discordant veins that are hosted in N-S- and NE-SW-trending late faults that cross-cut the main orebody. The discordant PGE-rich ore (up to 4 ppm total PGE) is characterized by thin, discontinuous and irregular veins and lenses of massive sulfides hosted by serpentinite and talc schist, and is relatively undeformed if compared with the early types of ore. It is composed mainly of pyrrhotite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite, magnetite, carbonates, and amphiboles, with minor cobaltite-gersdorffite, sphalerite, ilmenite, and quartz, and rarely maucherite (Ni11Asg), tellurides and platinum-group minerals (PGM). Omeeite, irarsite, sperrylite, and Ni-bearing merenskyite are the main PGM, followed by minor amounts of testibiopalladite and an unknown phase containing Ru, Te, and As. The PGM occur either included in, or at the margins of, sulfides, sulfarsenides, silicates and oxides, or filling fractures in pyrrhotite, pentlandite, and chalcopyrite, suggesting that they started to precipitate with these minerals and continued to precipitate after the sulfides were formed. The mantle-normalized metal distribution of the two samples of discordant veins shows distinct patterns: one richer in Ni-Pd-Ir-Rh-Ru-Os and another with higher amounts of Cu-Pt-Bi. Both are strongly depleted in Cr if compared with the metamorphosed magmatic ore of this deposit, which follows the general Kambalda-type magmatic trend. on the basis of structural, mineralogical and geochemical evidence, we propose that the PGE-rich discordant ore may have formed by remobilization of metals from the deformed, metamorphosed magmatic orebody (which shows a depleted pattern in these elements) by reduced (pyrrhotite - pentlandite - pyrite are stable), neutral to alkaline and carbonic fluids (carbonate-stable). The PGE may have been transported as bisulfide complexes, and precipitated as tellurides (mainly Pd) and arsenides (Pt, Rh, Ru, Os, Ir) in the late N-S and NE-SW-trending faults owing to a decrease in the activity of S caused by the precipitation of sulfides in the veins.

The mechanism of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity remains controversial. Wistar rats (n=96) were randomly assigned to a control (C), lycopene (L), doxorubicin (D), or doxorubicin+lycopene (DL) group. The L and DL groups received lycopene (5 mg/kg body wt/day by gavage) for 7 weeks. The D and DL groups received doxombicin (4 mg/kg body wt intraperitoneally) at 3, 4, 5, and 6 weeks and were killed at 7 weeks for analyses. Myocardial tissue lycopene levels and total antioxidant performance (TAP) were analyzed by HPLC and fluorometry, respectively. Lycopene metabolism was determined by incubating H-2(10)-lycopene with intestinal mucosa postmitochondrial fraction and lipoxygenase and analyzed with HPLC and APCI mass spectroscopy. Myocardial tissue lycopene levels in DL and L were similar. TAP adjusted for tissue protein were higher in myocardium of D than those of C (P=0.002). Lycopene metabolism study identified a lower oxidative cleavage of lycopene in D as compared to those of C. Our results showed that lycopene was not depleted in myocardium of lycopene-supplemented rats treated with doxorubicin and that higher antioxidant capacity in myocardium and less oxidative cleavage of lycopene in intestinal mucosa of doxorubicin-treated rats suggest an antioxidant role of doxombicin rather than acting as a prooxidant. Applying the principle of analytic extension for generalized functions we derive causal propagators for algebraic non-covariant gauges. The so-generated manifestly causal gluon propagator in the light-cone gauge is used to evaluate two one-loop Feynman integrals which appear in the computation of the three-gluon vertex correction. The result is in agreement with that obtained through the usual prescriptions.

The reproductive biology of shrubs and trees of a preserved savanna (''cerrado'') area in the municipality of Corumbatai São Paulo State, Brazil was studied. The floral sexuality of 135 species were characterized, with 85.2 % hermaphroditic, 9.4 % dioecious, 4.5 % monoecious, and one determine the breeding systems. Nine apomictic species were found, all belonging Melastomataceae. Among the twelve sexual reproducing species, seven (58.3 %) proved to be self-compatible, and five (41.7 %) self-incompatible. Anemophily was found in five species, although pollinations systems were not investigated in other species.
