This thesis investigates the matter of race in the context of Finnish language acquisition among adult migrants in Finland. Here matter denotes both the materiality of race and how race comes to matter. Drawing primarily on an auto/ethno/graphic account of learning the Finnish language as a participant in the Finnish for foreigners classes, this thesis problematises the ontology and epistemology of race, i.e., what race is, how it is known, and what an engagement with race entails. Taking cues from the bodily practices of learning the Finnish trill or the rolling r, this study proposes a notion of “trilling race” and argues for an onto-epistemological dis/continuity that marks race’s arrival. The notion of dis/continuity reworks the distinction between continuity and discontinuity, and asks about the how of the arrival of any identity, the where, and the when. In so doing, an analysis of “trilling race” engages with one of the major problematics that has exercised much critical attention, namely: how to read race differently. That is, to rethink the conundrum of the need to counter “representational weight” (Puar 2007, 191) of race on the one hand, and to account for the racialised lived realities on the other. The link between a study of the phenomenon of host country language acquisition and an examination of the question of race is not as obvious as it might seem. For example, what does the argument that the process of language learning is racialised actually imply? Does it mean that race, as a process of racialisation or an ongoing configuration of sets of power relations, exerts force from an outside on the otherwise neutral process of learning the host country language? Or does it mean that race, as an identity category, presents as among the analytical perspectives, along with gender and class for instance, of the phenomenon of host country language acquisition? With these questions in mind, and to foreground the examination of the question of race in the context of Finnish language acquisition among adult migrants, this thesis opens with a discussion of the art installation Finnexia by Lisa Erdman. Finnexia is a fictitious drug said to facilitate Finnish language learning through accelerating the cognitive learning process and reducing the anxiety of speaking the Finnish language. Not only does the Finnexia installation make visible the ways in which the lack of skill in Finnish is fgured as the threshold – a border that separates the inside from the outside – to integration, but also, and importantly, it raises questions about the nature of difference, and the process of differentiation that separates the individual from the social, fact from fiction, nature from culture. These puzzles animate much of the analysis in this dissertation. These concerns continue to be addressed in the rest of part one. Whereas chapter two offers a reconsideration of the ambiguities of ethnisme/ethnicity and race, chapter three dilates on the methodological implications of a conception of the dis/continuity of race. Part two focuses on the matter of race and examines the political economy of visual-aural encounters, whereas part three shifts the focus and rethinks the possibilities and limitations of transforming racialised and normative constraints. Taking up these particular problematics, this thesis as a whole argues that race trills itself: its identity/difference is simultaneously made possible and impossible.

Los sistemas y las tecnologías de información son un elemento vital de las organizaciones exitosas. Por eso constituyen un área esencial de estudio en la administración y dirección de un negocio. Actualmente, la investigación sobre la TI y el desempeño de negocios ha descubierto que cuanto más tenga éxito una empresa para alinear la tecnología de la información con sus objetivos de negocios, mayor será su rentabilidad, y solo una cuarta parte de las empresas logran una alineación entre la TI y los negocios (Luffman, 2003) Esta fuerte tendencia ha tenido un auge interesante en compañías colombianas de todos los tamaños y sectores de la economía; por esta razón hemos buscado abordar una compañía colombiana de talla internacional para describir el proceso de implementación de su sistema de gestión de recursos empresariales (ERP) SAP ECC y su integración dentro de General Motors Colmotores; principalmente con el fin de realizar un análisis del uso que la compañía le está dando a los principales módulos y sub-módulos de contabilidad, ventas y compras de SAP. Este proyecto es muy pertinente especialmente para todos aquellos estudiantes e interesados en el uso y aprovechamiento de los sistemas de información de una compañía, por lo cual se sintetizara la experiencia durante su preparación para la implementación, el desarrollo de la misma y los principales resultados, percibidos por los empleados directamente involucrados, los cuales serán abordados por medio de visitas programadas y entrevistas a profundidad; esto facilitara y permitirá evidenciar de cerca la realidad de la compañía General Motors Colmotores con SAP.

Essa dissertação apresenta um conjunto de índices de preços de infraestrutura desenvolvidos com o propósito de fornecer indicadores específicos para este setor de atividades no Brasil. Foi realizado um levantamento dos principais índices dessa natureza produzidos no Brasil e no mundo. As principais referências internacionais foram os países membros da Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Econômico – OCDE e da União Europeia. A partir dessa análise, foram identificadas três questões fundamentais para o desenvolvimento do trabalho: i) qual é o conjunto de obras de infraestrutura a ser representado pelos índices e como delimitar esse conjunto?; ii) os índices de preços produzidos atualmente no Brasil representam parcial ou totalmente esse conjunto?; e iii) como desenvolver um conjunto de índices, construídos sobre a mesma base metodológica, de abrangência nacional, capazes de representar adequadamente tal conjunto de obras? Como resultado do trabalho, foi desenvolvido um conjunto dez índices de preços de infraestrutura, que contempla todos os requisitos listados acima. Além da base metodológica para construção dos índices, foram calculadas suas respectivas séries históricas para o período de dezembro/2000 (base = 100) a fevereiro/2015, a partir das quais os índices são analisados sob diversos aspectos como, por exemplo, através de análise comparativa dos dez índices entre si e análise do comportamento dos índices ao longo do tempo, considerando o contexto macroeconômico através da observação de indicadores selecionados.

The present work turns on the public politics of digital inclusion and of the impact of the Technologies of the Information and Communication in the formation of the citizenship. For this, it was opted for doing an analysis of effectiveness of the performance of the objectives of the Proinfo (National Program of Computer Science in the Education) municipal district of Natal-RN. As instrument of collection of data, three types of questionnaires were used. The collected data were analyzed and discussed starting from it analyzes it descriptive of averages and analyze of multiple regression. The results of the research pointed that the teachers and the students use the computer science in a restricted way. On the other hand, the digital education is not still totally contemplated in the schools beneficiaries' digital rérumé by Proinfo municipal and thus, the inefficacy of the program was verified with relationship the educational training and the students' digital inclusion

With the rapid growth of databases of various types (text, multimedia, etc..), There exist a need to propose methods for ordering, access and retrieve data in a simple and fast way. The images databases, in addition to these needs, require a representation of the images so that the semantic content characteristics are considered. Accordingly, several proposals such as the textual annotations based retrieval has been made. In the annotations approach, the recovery is based on the comparison between the textual description that a user can make of images and descriptions of the images stored in database. Among its drawbacks, it is noted that the textual description is very dependent on the observer, in addition to the computational effort required to describe all the images in database. Another approach is the content based image retrieval - CBIR, where each image is represented by low-level features such as: color, shape, texture, etc. In this sense, the results in the area of CBIR has been very promising. However, the representation of the images semantic by low-level features is an open problem. New algorithms for the extraction of features as well as new methods of indexing have been proposed in the literature. However, these algorithms become increasingly complex. So, doing an analysis, it is natural to ask whether there is a relationship between semantics and low-level features extracted in an image? and if there is a relationship, which descriptors better represent the semantic? which leads us to a new question: how to use descriptors to represent the content of the images?. The work presented in this thesis, proposes a method to analyze the relationship between low-level descriptors and semantics in an attempt to answer the questions before. Still, it was observed that there are three possibilities of indexing images: Using composed characteristic vectors, using parallel and independent index structures (for each descriptor or set of them) and using characteristic vectors sorted in sequential order. Thus, the first two forms have been widely studied and applied in literature, but there were no records of the third way has even been explored. So this thesis also proposes to index using a sequential structure of descriptors and also the order of these descriptors should be based on the relationship that exists between each descriptor and semantics of the users. Finally, the proposed index in this thesis revealed better than the traditional approachs and yet, was showed experimentally that the order in this sequence is important and there is a direct relationship between this order and the relationship of low-level descriptors with the semantics of the users

There is nowadays a growing demand for located cooling and stabilization in optical and electronic devices, haul of portable systems of cooling that they allow a larger independence in several activities. The modules of thermoelectrical cooling are bombs of heat that use efect Peltier, that consists of the production of a temperature gradient when an electric current is applied to a thermoelectrical pair formed by two diferent drivers. That efect is part of a class of thermoelectrical efcts that it is typical of junctions among electric drivers. The modules are manufactured with semiconductors. The used is the bismuth telluride Bi2Te3, arranged in a periodic sequence. In this sense the idea appeared of doing an analysis of a system that obeys the sequence of Fibonacci. The sequence of Fibonacci has connections with the golden proportion, could be found in the reproductive study of the bees, in the behavior of the light and of the atoms, as well as in the growth of plants and in the study of galaxies, among many other applications. An apparatus unidimensional was set up with the objective of investigating the thermal behavior of a module that obeys it a rule of growth of the type Fibonacci. The results demonstrate that the modules that possess periodic arrangement are more eficient

O presente estudo trata da formação de professores e tem por interesse focal a investigação da seguinte problemática: que concepções de professor estão presentes nas propostas curriculares do curso de licenciatura em História da Universidade Federal do Pará implementadas em 1988 e 2006? A relevância deste trabalho está na possibilidade de problematizar a formação de professor de História e fornecer subsídios que contribuam para ampliar esse debate na atual Faculdade de História. O estudo tem sua fundamentação metodológica nos princípios da pesquisa qualitativa, adotando como procedimentos para a coleta de dados uma pesquisa de natureza documental e a realização de entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Para tal propósito, buscamos fazer a análise de documentos oficiais da Legislação Federal sobre educação; da Legislação interna da UFPA e particularmente do curso de História dessa instituição, articulando-os aos referenciais teóricos sobre formação e concepção de professor. O levantamento de documentos foi feito junto ao Departamento de Apoio Didático-Científico (DAC), Arquivo do Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Arquivos da Faculdade de História e Internet. As informações contidas nas documentações foram complementadas com entrevistas realizadas com seis professores, que participaram diretamente das discussões e aprovação das propostas curriculares investigadas. Os resultados das análises feitas no corpus evidenciam que as referidas reformas curriculares sofreram influência das discussões que estavam ocorrendo em nível nacional e sua repercussão no movimento interno da UFPA e, particularmente, no curso de História dessa instituição. A proposta curricular de 1988 apresentou um perfil voltado à formação do profissional de História e uma concepção de professor técnico-linear ancorada nos princípios da racionalidade técnica. O Projeto Político Pedagógico, implementado no curso de História em 2006, evidencia um perfil de Professor-historiador e uma intencionalidade para a concepção de professor reflexivo, que, no entanto, é questionável em razão da ausência de uma discussão pedagógica voltada à formação de professor. Os conhecimentos históricos e pedagógicos inclusos nas duas propostas curriculares nem sempre se mostram coerentes com o perfil e a concepção de professor presentes nas propostas curriculares investigadas, em razão de sua formatação gráfica e epistemológica na estrutura curricular.

O presente trabalho traz como tema a violência doméstica contra a criança, diz respeito às práticas discursivas docentes face à criança maltratada, buscando desvelar os limites e as possibilidades do enfrentamento dos maus tratos infantis domésticos no espaço escolar. Para Tanto, foi realizado um estudo de caso de práticas e vivências de um grupo de professoras da educação infantil de uma unidade escolar da rede pública municipal de Belém, o qual foi desenvolvido através de entrevistas semi estruturadas, no período compreendido entre Março e Junho de 2009. Portanto, categorias como: infância, historicidade dos maus tratos, responsabilidades, reconhecimento, ética, entre tantos outros, embasaram este estudo, caracteristicamente teórico e empírico. Tendo a hermenêutica como fio teórico-metodológico inspirada nos princípios hermenêuticos do agir humano de Paul Ricouer. As análises das narrativas docentes indicam que em determinado contextos e circunstâncias a responsabilidade civil perante a criança maltratada perde intensamente o seu sentido prático normativo e somente uma responsabilidade ética calçada no reconhecimento positivo das crianças, tem sustentado uma ação docente de enfrentamento dos maus tratos, este que como pretendemos sinalizar são imprescindíveis para a construção de uma cultura de respeito e defesa da dignidade humana das crianças.

The development of the sugar and alcohol sector and its sugar cane cultivation has been given in an accelerated way in Pontal do Paranapanema, mainly from the last decade, and with this has taken quick changes in the dynamic socio-economic and environmental of the region, further accentuating some conflicts and dilemmas social and environmental legacy. This work was done in order that these issues are further explored, that of moving towards a greater theoretical-scientific maturity, and even has a better apparatus to support measures (corrective or preventive) that show required anti such conflicts. For this purpose, we used the environmental licensing as a means of doing this analysis, since it is one of the main instruments of control/ regulation of the State against the development of activities of the sugar and alcohol sector. We also used a little of the vast potential of information that is contained in the environmental agencies. In this case, we used six Environmental Impact Study / Environmental Impact Report (EIS /EIR), six Preliminary Environmental Reports(PER), five Characterization of Enterprise Memorials (CEM), among other documents /studies present there. Some of the information, organized and made available in this work, has even greater potential to be exploited. It was also made an essential literature survey and of the laws related to licensing and alcohol and sugar sector
