Efeitos de períodos de convivência das plantas daninhas sobre a produtividade da cultura do amendoim das secas

Com o objetivo de estudar os efeitos de diferentes períodos de matocompetição sobre o crescimento e produtividade da cultura do amendoim cultivar Tatu-53, conduziu -se o presente experimento sobre solo Latossol Vermelho escuro fase arenosa na região de Jaboticabal, SP. Constituíram-se os tratamentos de vários períodos de convivência da comunidade infestante na cultura do amendoim, considerados à partir da emergência da cultura até 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84 e 117 dias (colheita). Após o período de convivência, a cultura foi mantida no limpo através de capinas na entre-linha e monda na linha de semeadura, a cada duas semanas. Houve ainda, um tratamento em que a cultura foi mantida no limpo durante todo o ciclo. O espaçamento foi de 0,60 m com densidade de 25 sementes por metro de sulco. As principais espécies de plantas daninhas que ocorreram na área experimental foram Cenchrus echinatus L., Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Alternantera ficoidea (L.) R. Br., Emilia sonchifolia DC. e Sida spp. O período em que a competição torna-se crítica para a produtividade do amendoim inicia-se entre 42 e 56 dias do ciclo da cultura. Os parâmetros produtivos afetados pela matocompetição foram produção de vagens e grãos por hectare e por indivíduos, número médio de vagens por planta e por parcela e distribuição de grãos de diferentes tamanhos na massa produzida.

Toxicidade aguda do sulfato de cobre e do extrato aquoso de folhas secas de nim para o caramujo (Pomacea canaliculata)

Snails can become an environmental and economic problem, causing substantial losses. The objective of this work was to estimate the acute toxicity of copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) and the aqueous extract of dried neem leaves on snails (P. canaliculata) under laboratory conditions. In order to estimate the lethal concentration 50% (LC (I)50;96h), snails were exposed to six increasing copper sulfate concentrations (0.0; 0.01; 0.03; 0.05; 0.07 and 0.1 mg L-1) and six increasing concentrations of aqueous extract of dried neem leaves 0.0; 100; 125; 150; 175 and 200 mL aqueous extract of dried neem leaves L-1 water, equivalent to (0.0; 1.18; 1.47; 1.77; 2.06 and 2.36 mg azadirachtin L -1), in triplicate and one control treatment in an entirely random delineation. Estimated LC (I)50;96h, of copper sulfate was 0.02 mg copper sulfate L-1, with a 0.01 mg L-1 lower limit and a 0.03 mg L-1 upper limit. Estimated lethal concentration 50% of the aqueous extract of dried neem leaves was 142.75 mL L-1, equivalent to 1.68 mg L-1 of azadirachtine, with a 130.89 mL L-1 (1.54 mg L-1) low limit and 155.69 mL L-1 (1.83 mg L -1) as the upper limit.

Teores de iodo em dietas secas e úmidas para gatos adultos comercializadas na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Were analyzed 29 samples, 16 wet and 13 dry cat food of different flavors. The iodine levels ranged from 2.7 to 3.4 (average 2.95 mg/kg/MS) in dry food and 2.9 to 4.0 (average 3.4 mg/kg/MS) in the wet food. Eight samples (27.6%) specified on the package the assurance level (maximum) of iodine, with a dry (2.0 mg/kg/diet) and seven wet (0.04 mg/kg/diet). All non-compliant, because the values were higher than declared. Cats fed commercial diets consume proportionally more iodine in wet food than cats fed dry diets, but both with high levels of iodine. All samples analyzed were above the amounts stated on the labels. Accordingly, the wet and dry commercial food for cats show no reliable values with those reported, resulting in a possible excessive intake of this trace element for animals in question.

Influência de fluídos biológicos na sobrevivência de Staphylococcus aureus sobre diferentes superfícies secas

Sabe-se que a transmissão de infecções hospitalares, via cruzada ou ambiental, é facilitada pela sobrevivência de microrganismos em superfícies secas que pode ser favorecida pela presença de fluídos biológicos. Visando demonstrar o cuidado com substâncias corporais na rotina de limpeza, esse estudo avaliou a influência de alguns fluídos biológicos (sangue, urina e saliva artificial) na sobrevivência de Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), depositados de modo similar, sobre diferentes superfícies após secagem. O sangue foi capaz de preservar a viabilidade bacteriana por até 72 dias quando depositado sobre piso cerâmico. O tecido em fibra de algodão permitiu maior tempo de sobrevivência em comparação ao tecido sintético. Esses resultados demonstram que a composição do fluído biológico e o tipo de suporte altera o tempo da sobrevivência bacteriana em condições ambientais. This paper revisits the work Vidas Secas, by Graciliano Ramos, in search of a literary analysis, observing the narrative aspects of time, space and characters, from the myth of Sisyphus's perspective, the existentialist philosophy of Sartre and Camus and theory the eternal return of Nietzsche. With the use of these special lenses, intended to show how this work is able to generate the effect of absurdity in the reader, through a narrative construction that brings out the absolute lack of meaning and purpose of those lives, but still, unlike than one would tend to conclude, builds characters who pass by a mere determinism of the environment and act in the world through freedom possible within all disturbing limitations imposed on them

Vidas secas, fourth volume of Graciliano Ramos’s work, has its origins in baleia, a short story written by the author and later interspersed, in a term of six months, in twelve other chapters then created for the novel. This paper deals with aspects of Vidas secas creative process, from the short story to the novel.

Avaliação radiográficada fusão das corticias lateral e medial do ramo mandibular: estudo em mandíbulas secas

Purpose: to radiographically evaluate the distance between mandibular lingula and the exact spot where buccal and lingual cortical bone plates merge in the mandibular ramus. Materials and Methods: 54 dry mandibles, divided into 3 subgroups (SG1: dentate, SG2: partially dentate and SG3: edentulous) were used in this study. Lingula position was marked with a metallic sphere and radiographs were taken. The distance between mandibular notch and lingula (I/L) and the distance between mandibular lingula and cortical bone plates fusion (L/FC) were measured. Statistical analysis was applied to the values obtained. Results: mean values for L/FC were 8,18mm, 7,30mm and 8,98mm for SG1, SG2 e SG3 respectively. Moreover, mean values for I/L were 14,02mm, 13,90mm and 12,34mm for SG1, SG 2 and SG3 respectively. The results also showed that cortical bone plates fusion took place in half I/L distance in 28,57% of the mandibles in SG1, in 46,67% of the mandibles in SG2 and in 9,09% of the pieces in SG3. Conclusions: there were no statistically significant differences in the height where cortical bone plates took place in all 3 subgroups. In SG3, the correlation between the mean value for L/FC and the mean value for I/L suggests a reduction in bone density and bone mass, which can correlate to the evaluation of older mandibles in this subgroup.

Estudo anatomico da posição do forame mandibular e da língula em mandíbulas secas

Purpose: The authors tried to verify the anatomic location of the mandibular foramen and língula in dry jaws regarding the anterior and posterior border of the mandible and the incisure, alveolar border and mandibular base, in order to correlate the data with the sagittal split ramus osteotomy. Methods: There were evaluated 44 mandibles (88 sides) from the Morphology Department of the Araraquara Dental School of the São Paulo University (UNESP). The distances measured were previously deter - mined according to the figures presented in this article and were done by the use of a sliding caliper (Brow & Sharpe Digit-Cal Plus), with the mandibles positioned over a Erickson table, and the distan - ces were always measured in millimeters. Results: The pre-determined points and distances founded were X=17,67; Y=14,35; W=20,96 and Z=21,89 for the mandibular foramen, and the relationship between this anatomical structure and the língula shows that the mandibular foramen is in average 5,82 mm below the língula. Conclusions: The authors conclude that the mandibular foramen is lightly posterior in comparison with the ramus mandibular center and that the língula is a very important anatomic landmark for the ramus surgeries as well the knowledge of the distance between it and the mandibular foramen entrance.

Vidas secas (1938) é o último romance de Graciliano Ramos, escrito depois da experiência do autor nos cárceres do Estado Novo, experiência por ele mesmo julgada essencial para a elaboração do livro. O artigo começa pela discussão acerca do sentido das exigências éticas e estéticas do romancista. Procura descrever a organização do romance a partir da combinação de contos, originalmente autônomos. Examina em seguida o episódio "Baleia", onde se discute o problema da domesticação e da educação. Termina com a análise da tensão entre a fala da utopia e o realismo crítico.
