We investigate digitalization and security of the Bulgarian and Indian cultural artifacts in multimedia archive. In the paper we describe project implementation and methods for intellectual property protection that are result of bilateral cultural and scientific cooperation between research-workers in India and Bulgaria.

This paper presents a research of linguistic structure of Bulgarian bells knowledge. The idea of building semantic structure of Bulgarian bells appeared during the “Multimedia fund - BellKnow” project. In this project was collected a lots of data about bells, their structure, history, technical data, etc. This is the first attempt for computation linguistic explain of bell knowledge and deliver a semantic representation of that knowledge. Based on this research some linguistic components, aiming to realize different types of analysis of text objects are implemented in term dictionaries. Thus, we lay the foundation of the linguistic analysis services in these digital dictionaries aiding the research of kinds, number and frequency of the lexical units that constitute various bell objects.

A necessidade de conciliar uma procura cada vez maior com as restrições de recursos humanos e financeiros levou a que se implementasse um conjunto de inovações que permitisse alcançar maior eficiência. No presente estudo aborda-se uma dessas iniciativas: os Hospitais SA. As implicações originadas por esta medida, ocorreram em termos de alterações de gestão e adopção de novos conceitos. Estas são algumas das dimensões estudadas. Em termos metodológicos pretende-se perceber como é que alguns dos profissionais de Saúde avaliam as modificações que ocorreram. Para tal, optou-se por levar a cabo um estudo de caso de um Hospital SA da região de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, numa abordagem qualitativa, visando identificar a perspectiva dos profissionais de saúde nas inovações de gestão, relacionadas com as novas tecnologias, das quais se destacam: • Utilização da Internet; • Implementação e utilização da Intranet; • Desenvolvimento de Arquivos Digitais relativos a processos médicos; • Cartão Vital; • Aplicação Medivital. Para a recolha de dados será utilizada uma entrevista sarni-estruturada “que atribui maior liberdade ao investigador para conduzir a entrevista como achar ser mais conveniente, para a obtenção de dados que se revelem pertinentes" (Patton, 1990). Abstract; The need to conciliate the increasing search for healthcare over time with the restrictions of human and financial resources conducted to the implementation of a set of innovations that allowed a greater efficiency. ln the present study, one of those initiatives is presented: in the Hospitais SA. The implications of this measure occurred in terms of management modifications and in the adoption of new concepts. These are some of the studied dimensions. ln methodological terms, it’s intended to perceive how health professionals evaluate the modifications that occurred. For such, it was opted to present a case study of a Hospital SA from Lisboa e Vale do Tejo region, in a qualitative approach, aiming to identify the health professionals perspective of the management innovations related to the new technologies, from which the following, stand out: • Internet usage; • Implementation and use of Internet; • Development of Digital Archives related to medical processes; • Vital Card; • Medivital application. For data gathering a half-structuralized interview will be used "which gives greater freedom to the researcher to conduct the interview as he finds most convenient, in order to obtain relevant data" (Patton, 1990).

The uses of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Web environments for creation, treatment and availability of information have supported the emergence of new social-cultural patterns represented by convergences in textual, image and audio languages. This paper describes and analyzes the National Archives Experience Digital Vaults as a digital publishing web environment and as a cultural heritage. It is a complex system - synthesizer of information design options at information setting, provides new aesthetic aspects, but specially enlarges the cognition of the subjects who interact with the environment. It also enlarges the institutional spaces that guard the collective memory beyond its role of keeping the physical patrimony collected there. Digital Vaults lies as a mix of guide and interactive catalogue to be dealt in a ludic way. The publishing design of the information held on the Archives is meant to facilitate access to knowledge. The documents are organized in a dynamic and not chronological way. They are not divided in fonds or distinct categories, but in controlled interaction of documents previously indexed and linked by the software. The software creates information design and view of documental content that can be considered a new paradigm in Information Science and are part of post-custodial regime, independent from physical spaces and institutions. Information professionals must be prepared to understand and work with the paradigmatic changes described and represented by the new hybrid digital environments; hence the importance of this paper. Cyberspace interactivity between user and the content provided by the environment design provide cooperation, collaboration and sharing knowledge actions, all features of networks, transforming culture globally. © 2011 - IOS Press and the authors. Australians are the creators and custodians of a broad range of cultural materials. This material includes literary, photographic, video and audio archives. These archives should be made available to all Australians for access and reuse, as part of a pre-competitive platform which promotes the interests of the Australian public in gaining access to a diverse range of content that contributes to the development of national and cultural identity. This does not mean that all material must be made available for access and reuse for free and in an unrestricted fashion. But for publicly funded content, free and unrestricted access should be the default. The Venturous Australia report on the National Innovation System recommended that “[t]o the maximum extent possible, information, research and content funded by Australian governments – including national collections – should be made freely available over the internet as part of the global public commons.”1 The report further stated that “both for its direct and indirect benefits to Australia and for the greater global good, Australia should energetically and proudly maximise the extent to which it makes government funded content available as part of the global digital commons...

Over the past couple of decades, the cultural field formerly known as ‘domestic’, and later ‘personal’ photography has been remediated and transformed as part of the social web, with its convergence of personal expression, interpersonal communication, and online social networks (most recently via platforms like Flickr, Facebook and Twitter). Meanwhile, the Digital Storytelling movement (involving the workshop-based production of short autobiographical videos) from its beginnings in the mid 1990s relied heavily on the narrative power of the personal photograph, often sourced from family albums, and later from online archives. This paper addresses the new issues arising for the politics of self-representation and personal photography in the era of social media, focusing particularly on the consequences of online image-sharing. It discusses in detail the practices of selection, curation, manipulation and editing of personal photographic images among a group of activist-oriented queer digital storytellers who have in common a stated desire to share their personal stories in pursuit of social change, and whose stories often aim to address both intimate and antagonistic publics.
