This paper addresses the DNA code analysis in the perspective of dynamics and fractional calculus. Several mathematical tools are selected to establish a quantitative method without distorting the alphabet represented by the sequence of DNA bases. The association of Gray code, Fourier transform and fractional calculus leads to a categorical representation of species and chromosomes.

Materiales y métodos a utilizar. A crucial factor for software quality is correcteness. Traditionally, formal approaches to software development concentrate on functional correctness, and tackle this problem basically by being based on well defined notations founded on solid mathematical grounds. This makes formal methods better suited for analysis, due to their precise semantics, but they are usually more complex, and require familiarity and experience with the manipulation of mathematical definitions. So, their acceptance by software engineers is rather restricted, and formal methods applications have been confined to critical systems. Nevertheless, it is obvious that the advantages that formal methods provide apply to any kind of software system. It is accepted that appropriate software tool support for formal analysis is essential, if one seeks providing support for software development based on formal methods. Indeed, some of the relatively recent sucesses of formal methods are accompanied by good quality tools that automate powerful analysis mechanisms, and are even integrated in widely used development environments. Still, most of these tools either concentrate on code analysis, and in many cases are still far from being simple enough to be employed by software engineers without experience in formal methods. Another important problem for the adoption of tool support for formal methods is scalability. Automated software analysis is intrinsically complex, and thus techniques do not scale well in the general case. In this project, we will attempt to identify particular modelling, design, specification or coding activities in software development processes where to apply automated formal analysis techniques. By focusing in very specific application domains, we expect to find characteristics that might be exploited to increase the scalability of the corresponding analyses, compared to the general case.

Blood flow in human aorta is an unsteady and complex phenomenon. The complex patterns are related to the geometrical features like curvature, bends, and branching and pulsatile nature of flow from left ventricle of heart. The aim of this work was to understand the effect of aorta geometry on the flow dynamics. To achieve this, 3D realistic and idealized models of descending aorta were reconstructed from Computed Tomography (CT) images of a female patient. The geometries were reconstructed using medical image processing code. The blood flow in aorta was assumed to be laminar and incompressible and the blood was assumed to be Newtonian fluid. A time dependent pulsatile and parabolic boundary condition was deployed at inlet. Steady and unsteady blood flow simulations were performed in real and idealized geometries of descending aorta using a Finite Volume Method (FVM) code. Analysis of Wall Shear Stress (WSS) distribution, pressure distribution, and axial velocity profiles were carried out in both geometries at steady and unsteady state conditions. The results obtained in thesis work reveal that the idealization of geometry underestimates the values of WSS especially near the region with sudden change of diameter. However, the resultant pressure and velocity in idealized geometry are close to those in real geometry

In this thesis, a Peer-to-Peer communication middleware for mobile environment is developed using the Qt framework and the Qt Mobility extension. The Peer-to-Peer middleware – called as PeerHood – is for service sharing in network neighborhood. In addition, the PeerHood enables service connectivity and device monitoring functionalities. The concept of the PeerHood is already available in native C++ implementation on Linux platform using services from the platform. In this work, the PeerHood concept is remade to be based on use of the Qt framework. The objective of the new solution is to increase PeerHood quality with using functionalities from the Qt framework and the Qt Mobility extension. Furthermore, by using the Qt framework, the PeerHood middleware can be implemented to be portable cross-platform middleware. The quality of the new PeerHood implementation is evaluated with defined quality factors and compared with the existing PeerHood. Reliability, CPU usage, memory usage and static code analysis metrics are used in evaluation. The new PeerHood is shown to be more reliable and flexible that the existing one.

Bank switching in embedded processors having partitioned memory architecture results in code size as well as run time overhead. An algorithm and its application to assist the compiler in eliminating the redundant bank switching codes introduced and deciding the optimum data allocation to banked memory is presented in this work. A relation matrix formed for the memory bank state transition corresponding to each bank selection instruction is used for the detection of redundant codes. Data allocation to memory is done by considering all possible permutation of memory banks and combination of data. The compiler output corresponding to each data mapping scheme is subjected to a static machine code analysis which identifies the one with minimum number of bank switching codes. Even though the method is compiler independent, the algorithm utilizes certain architectural features of the target processor. A prototype based on PIC 16F87X microcontrollers is described. This method scales well into larger number of memory blocks and other architectures so that high performance compilers can integrate this technique for efficient code generation. The technique is illustrated with an example

Wednesday 23rd April 2014 Speaker(s): Willi Hasselbring Organiser: Leslie Carr Time: 23/04/2014 14:00-15:00 Location: B32/3077 File size: 802Mb Abstract The internal behavior of large-scale software systems cannot be determined on the basis of static (e.g., source code) analysis alone. Kieker provides complementary dynamic analysis capabilities, i.e., monitoring/profiling and analyzing a software system's runtime behavior. Application Performance Monitoring is concerned with continuously observing a software system's performance-specific runtime behavior, including analyses like assessing service level compliance or detecting and diagnosing performance problems. Architecture Discovery is concerned with extracting architectural information from an existing software system, including both structural and behavioral aspects like identifying architectural entities (e.g., components and classes) and their interactions (e.g., local or remote procedure calls). In addition to the Architecture Discovery of Java systems, Kieker supports Architecture Discovery for other platforms, including legacy systems, for instance, inplemented in C#, C++, Visual Basic 6, COBOL or Perl. Thanks to Kieker's extensible architecture it is easy to implement and use custom extensions and plugins. Kieker was designed for continuous monitoring in production systems inducing only a very low overhead, which has been evaluated in extensive benchmark experiments. Single-page applications have historically been subject to strong market forces driving fast development and deployment in lieu of quality control and changeable code, which are important factors for maintainability. In this report we develop two functionally equivalent applications using AngularJS and React and compare their maintainability as defined by ISO/IEC 9126. AngularJS and React represent two distinct approaches to web development, with AngularJS being a general framework providing rich base functionality and React a small specialized library for efficient view rendering. The quality comparison was accomplished by calculating Maintainability Index for each application. Version control analysis was used to determine quality indicators during development and subsequent maintenance where new functionality was added in two steps. The results show no major differences in maintainability in the initial applications. As more functionality is added the Maintainability Index decreases faster in the AngularJS application, indicating a steeper increase in complexity compared to the React application. Source code analysis reveals that changes in data flow requires significantly larger modifications of the AngularJS application due to its inherent architecture for data flow. We conclude that frameworks are useful when they facilitate development of known requirements but less so when applications and systems grow in size.
