Global static-priority preemptive multiprocessor scheduling with utilization bound 38%

Consider the problem of scheduling real-time tasks on a multiprocessor with the goal of meeting deadlines. Tasks arrive sporadically and have implicit deadlines, that is, the deadline of a task is equal to its minimum inter-arrival time. Consider this problem to be solved with global static-priority scheduling. We present a priority-assignment scheme with the property that if at most 38% of the processing capacity is requested then all deadlines are met.

Seabather's eruption: a clinical and epidemiological study of 38 cases in Santa Catarina State, Brazil

Seabather's eruption (SBE) is an intensely itchy, papule-erythematous dermatitis that occurs predominantly in regions of the body covered by bathing costumes, after exposure to marine water. The planulae larvae of Linuche unguiculata scyphomedusae (thimble jellyfish) are the etiologic agent of the dermatitis, which is frequent in waters of Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Florida. The authors report 38 cases of SBE in the State of Santa Catarina (Southern region of Brazil), with emphasis on their clinical and epidemiological aspects, such as profile of victim, topography of the papules and conditions predisposing to the accident.

Efeitos isolado e combinado de nitrogênio, fósforo e potássio em mamoneira (Ricinnus communis L.), cultivares "IAC-38" e"Campinas"

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo verificar os efeitos de nitrogênio, fósforo e potássio em dois cultivares de mamoneira, 'IAC-38' e 'Campinas'. Para isso, adotou-se fatorial 3³, utilizando-se 30-60-120 kg/ha de N, 40-80-160 de P2O5 e 20-40-80 de K2O. Nitrogênio e potássio não aumentaram a produção, isoladamente, porém o fósforo na ausência e na presença de potássio incrementou a produção em relação à menor dose. 80 kg/ha de Ρ2Ο5 proporcionou aumento de 22,56% sobre a dose de 40 kg/ha de P2O2 para o 'IAC-38' e 111,51% para o cultivar 'Campinas'. Os resultados mostraram ainda que o fósforo contribuiu para aumentar a densidade das sementes.

Cleusonite, (Pb,Sr)(U4+,U6+)(Fe2+ Zn)2(Ti,Fe2+ Fe3+)18(O,OH)38, a new mineral species of the crichtonite group from the western Swiss Alps

Cleusonite, (Pb,Sr)(U4+,U6+) (Fe2+,Zn)(2) (Ti,Fe2+,Fe3+)(18) (O,OH)(38), is a new member of the crichtonite group. It was found at two occurrences in greenschist facies metamorphosed gneissic series of the Mont Fort and Siviez-Mischabel Nappes in Valais, Switzerland (Cleuson and Bella Tolla summit), and named after the type locality. It occurs as black opaque cm-sized tabular crystals with a bright sub-metallic lustre. The crystals consist of multiple rhombohedra and hexagonal prisms that are generally twinned. Measured density is 4.74(4) g/cm(3) and can be corrected to 4.93(12) g/cm(3) for macroscopic swelling due to radiation damage; the calculated density varies from 5.02(6) (untreated) to 5.27(5) (heat-treated crystals); the difference is related to the cell swelling due to the metamictisation. The empirical formula for cleusonite from Cleuson is (Pb0.89Sr0.12)(Sigma=1.01) (U0.79+4U0.30+6)(Sigma=1.09) (Fe1.91+2Zn0.09)(Sigma=2.00) (Ti11.80Fe3.44+2Fe2.33+3V0.19+5Mn0.08Al0.07)(Sigma=17.90) [O-35.37(OH)(2.63)](Sigma=38). Cations were measured by electron microprobe, the presence of structural (OH) was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and the U6+/U4+ and Fe2+/Fe3+ ratios were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Cleusonite is partly metamict, and untreated crystals only show three major X-ray diffraction peaks. Because of this radiation-damaged state, the mineral appears optically isotropic and shows a light-grey to white colour in reflected polarized light. Cleusonite is trigonal, space group R $(3) over bar $, and unit-cell parameters are varying from a = 10.576(3), c = 21.325(5) angstrom (untreated crystal) to a = 10.4188(6), c = 20.942(1) angstrom (800 degrees C treatment) and to a = 10.385(2), c = 20.900(7) angstrom (1000 degrees C treatment). The three cells give a common axial ratio 2.01 (1), which is identical to the measured morphological one 2.04(6). ne name cleusonite also applies to the previously described ``uranium-rich senaite'' from Alinci (Macedonia) and the ``plumbodavidite'' from Huanglongpu (China).

A novel interferon-gamma regulated human melanoma-associated antigen, gp33-38, defined by monoclonal antibody Me14-D12. II. Molecular cloning of a genomic probe.

The human Me14-D12 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein regulated by interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) on tumor cell lines of neuroectodermal origin. It consists of two non-convalently linked subunits with apparent mol. wt sizes of 33,000 and 38,000. Here we describe the molecular cloning of a genomic probe for the Me14-D12 gene using the gene transfer approach. Mouse Ltk- cells were stably cotransfected with human genomic DNA and the Herpes Simplex virus thymidine kinase (TK) gene. Primary and secondary transfectants expressing the Me14-D12 antigen were isolated after selection in HAT medium by repeated sorting on a fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS). A recombinant phage harboring a 14.3 kb insert of human DNA was isolated from a genomic library made from a positive secondary transfectant cell line. A specific probe derived from the phage DNA insert allowed the identification of two mRNAs of 3.5 kb and 2.2 kb in primary and secondary L cell transfectants, as well as in human melanoma cell lines expressing the Me14-D12 antigen. The regulation of Me14-D12 antigen by INF-gamma was retained in the L cell transfectants and could be detected both at the level of protein and mRNA expression.
