PROFIBUS is an international standard (IEC 61158, EN 50170) for factory-floor communications, with several thousands of installations worldwide. Taking into account the increasing need for mobile devices in industrial environments, one obvious solution is to extend traditional wired PROFIBUS networks with wireless capabilities. In this paper, we outline the major aspects of a hybrid wired/wireless PROFIBUS-based architecture, where most of the design options were made in order to guarantee the real-time behaviour of the overall network. We also introduce the timing unpredictability problems resulting from the co-existence of heterogeneous physical media in the same network. However, the major focus of this paper is on how to guarantee real-time communications in such a hybrid network, where nodes (and whole segments) can move between different radio cells (inter-cell mobility). Assuming a simple mobility management mechanism based on mobile nodes performing periodic radio channel assessment and switching, we propose a methodology to compute values for specific parameters that enable an optimal (minimum) and bounded duration of the handoff procedure.

In the last years, several solutions have been proposed to extend PROFIBUS in order to support wired and wireless network stations in the same network. In this paper we compare two of those solutions, one in which the interconnection between wired and wireless stations is made by repeaters and another in which the interconnection is made by bridges. The comparison is both qualitative and numerical, based on simulation models of both architectures.

Determiner Spreading (DS) occurs in adjectivally modified nominal phrases comprising more than one definite article, a phenomenon that has received considerable attention and has been extensively described in Greek. This paper discusses the syntactic properties of DS in detail and argues that DS structures are both arguments and predication configurations involving two DPs. This account successfully captures the word-order facts and the distinctive interpretation of DS, while also laying the groundwork towards unifying it with other structures linking two DPs in a predicative relation.

A dislocation model, accurately describing the uniaxial plastic stress-strain behavior of dual phase (DP) steels, is proposed and the impact of martensite content and ferrite grain size in four commercially produced DP steels is analyzed. It is assumed that the plastic deformation process is localized to the ferrite. This is taken into account by introducing a non-homogeneity parameter, f(e), that specifies the volume fraction of ferrite taking active part in the plastic deformation process. It is found that the larger the martensite content the smaller the initial volume fraction of active ferrite which yields a higher initial deformation hardening rate. This explains the high energy absorbing capacity of DP steels with high volume fractions of martensite. Further, the effect of ferrite grain size strengthening in DP steels is important. The flow stress grain size sensitivity for DP steels is observed to be 7 times larger than that for single phase ferrite.

Neste trabalho são descritas a arquitetura e as propriedades características do protocolo PROFIBUS, nome dado a um entre os diversos protocolos existentes na área industrial. Utilizando uma versão do protocolo PROFIBUS desenvolvida no Laboratório de Instrumentação Eletro-Eletrônica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul foi implementada uma rede composta por uma estação mestre e até 96 estações escravas. A fim de analisar o Tempo de Ciclo de Mensagem e o Tempo de Reação do Sistema foram realizados diversos testes, variando a taxa de comunicação utilizada, o tamanho dos quadros de comunicação e a quantidade de estações escravas que compunham a rede. No final foi feita uma comparação entre os valores práticos obtidos e valores calculados a partir de fórmulas teóricas. Os valores práticos obtidos possibilitam determinar a viabilidade da utilização desta rede em diversas aplicações reais.

Durante a evolução da comunicação, diversos fatores contribuíram para melhorar a qualidade dos sistemas computacionais (Hardware e Software) em um ambiente industrial, onde o fator desempenho é um dos pontos importantes a ser considerado em um projeto de automação industrial. Nos últimos vinte anos, surgiram diversas propostas de padronização de protocolos para automação industrial e aplicações de tempo real, cada qual com características e tempos de resposta diferentes. Um estudo detalhado sobre as características técnicas de controle de tempo é de extrema importância, visto que esses sistemas, muitas vezes são implementados em situações de missão crítica, nas quais o tempo de resposta é um fator crucial para a aplicação. Nesta dissertação, apresentamos as etapas de evolução das técnicas de controle de acesso ao barramento, culminando inicialmente com o surgimento da proposta do protocolo FIELDBUS e em seguida com a proposta alemã, o PROFIBUS. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é propor um modelo analítico para a realização de avaliação de desempenho em uma rede PROFIBUS. O trabalho apresenta uma descrição das características funcionais do protocolo, bem como uma descrição detalhada dos tempos de controle utilizado pelo protocolo para controle e supervisão da rede. Uma descrição dos experimentos e o cruzamento dos dados obtidos na simulação com os dados obtidos através do modelo analítico demonstram a razão pela qual os modelos analíticos é uma ferramenta de extrema importância devido a sua agilidade em estimar o desempenho de uma rede PROFIBUS. PURPOSE: To assess the effects of the elevation of the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) on the value of the 1st temporal derivative of the ventricular pressure (dP/dt). METHODS: Nineteen anesthetized dogs were studied. The dogs were mechanically ventilated and underwent thoracotomy with parasympathetic nervous system block. The LVEDP was controlled with the use of a perfusion circuit connected to the left atrium and adjusted to the height of a reservoir. The elevation of the LVEDP was achieved by a sudden increase in the height of a reservoir filled with blood. Continuous recordings of the electrocardiogram, the aortic and ventricular pressures and the dP/dt were performed. RESULTS: Elevation of the LVEDP did not result in any variation of the heart rate (167±16.0bpm, before the procedure; 167±15.5bpm, after the procedure). All the other variables assessed, including systolic blood pressure (128±18.3mmHg and 150±21.5mmHg), diastolic blood pressure (98±16.9mmHg and 115±19.8mmHg), LVEDP (5.5±2.49 and 9.3±3.60mmHg), and dP/dt (4,855 ± 1,082 mmHg/s and 5,149±1,242mmHg/s) showed significant increases following the expansion of the ventricular cavity. Although the elevation of the dP/dt was statistically significant, 6 dogs curiously showed a decrease in the values of dP/dt. CONCLUSION: Sudden elevation of the LVEDP resulted in increased values of dP/dt; however, in some dogs, this response was not uniform.

In this note we analyse the dynamical potential of a system of four Dp-branes at arbitrary angles. The equilibrium configurations for various values of the relative angles and distances among branes are discussed. The known configurations of parallel branes and brane-antibranes are obtained at extrema of the dynamical potential.

Purpose - To evaluate the influence of sustained elevations of arterial pressure on dP/dt values, which the left ventricular end diastolic pressure was kept constant. Methods - Thirteen anesthetized dogs, mechanically ventilated and submitted to thoracotomy and pharmacological autonomic block (atropine - 0.5 mg/kg IV + oxprenolol - 3 mg/kg IV) were studied. The arterial pressure elevation was obtained by mechanical constriction of the descending thoracic aorta. Analyses were made in control (C) situation and after two successives increments of arterial pressure, sustained for 10min, called hypertension 1 (H1) and hypertension 2 (H2), respectively. The end diastolic left ventricular pressure was kept constant by utilization of a perfusion system connected to the left atria. Results - Heart rate did not change (C: 125 ± 13.9bpm; H1: 125 ± 13.5bpm; H2: 123 ± 14.1bpm; p > 0.05); the LVSP increased (C: 119 ± 8.1mmHg; H1: 142 ± 7.9mmHg; H2: 166 ± 7.7mmHg; p < 0.01); the AoDP increased (C: 89 ± 11.6mmHg; H1: 99 ± 9.5mmHg; H2: 120 ± 11.8mmHg; p < 0.01); the LVEDP (C: 6.2 ± 2.48mmHg; H1: 6.3 ± 2.43mmHg; H2: 6.1 ± 2.51mmHg; p > 0.05) and the dP/dt (C: 3068 ± 1057.1mmHg/s; 3112 ± 995.7mmHg/s; H2: 3086 ± 979.5mmHg/s; p > 0.05) did not change. Conclusion - dP/dt values are not influenced by a sustained elevation of arterial pressure, when the end diastolic left ventricular pressure is kept constant.

Seeking to meet the requirements: relatively low cost of materials and wide applicability in the automotive industry. The best option was the steel Dual Phase (DP), because that is lighter, have high formability, meet the cost requirements and applicability, steel Dual Phase (DP) came to meet these requirements with its two-phase microstructure, ferrite and martensite microstructure who claim to respect and mechanical properties. In this context, the aim of this study was to correlate the microstructure revealed in metallography to the mechanical properties observed in hardness and tensile tests. The microstructure is revealed by etching in 2% nital and then captured images of the sample were processed in ImageJ software to aid in determining the volume fraction of the phases present. Therefore, the mechanical properties were evaluated with respect to volume fraction of the steel layers and analyzed DP 600 together with the mechanical properties obtained by Rockwell hardness test and tensile test. With the values of the mechanical properties calculated and tested, it was possible to describe the method of metallography, as the attack phase and counts, so that it can use this relationship tested/calculated property as a qualitative analytical tool. The method used for the correlation between the microstructure and mechanical properties confirmed the importance of the phases present in the Dual Phase steel to obtain the desired mechanical properties in the application of the steel

This work aims to study the Dual-Phase 600 and 780 steels, which are part of technology development project materials for the automotive industry. It is worth underscoring the antagonistic properties as the Dual-Phase steel assemble, high mechanical strength and elongation due its microstructure, ferrite and martensite. These properties are obtained by a intercritical heat treatment which facilitates the formation of a hardness metastable microstructure shaped plates of low carbon steels. The applicability of Dual Phase steel in the structure of vehicles is huge and its production is already on a commercial scale, so the study and development of this material implies lower cost in automobile manufacturing processes. The dual phase steels DP600 and DP780 underwent tensile, hardness and metallographic analysis to evaluate and comparing its properties. The results indicate that the DP780 steel has higher strength and hardness than the DP600 steel and its microstructure consists of martensite higher fraction which accounts for the higher resistance and hardness. However, the DP600 has higher conformability to DP780 steel
