This paper introduces how artificial intelligence technologies can be integrated into a known computer aided control system design (CACSD) framework, Matlab/Simulink, using an object oriented approach. The aim is to build a framework to aid supervisory systems analysis, design and implementation. The idea is to take advantage of an existing CACSD framework, Matlab/Simulink, so that engineers can proceed: first to design a control system, and then to design a straightforward supervisory system of the control system in the same framework. Thus, expert systems and qualitative reasoning tools are incorporated into this popular CACSD framework to develop a computer aided supervisory system design (CASSD) framework. Els objectius del projecte són: realitzar un intèrpret de comandes en VAL3 que rebi les ordres a través d’una connexió TCP/IP; realitzar una toolbox de Matlab per enviar diferents ordres mitjançant una connexió TCP/IP; adquirir i processar mitjançant Matlab imatges de la càmera en temps real i detectar la posició d’objectes artificials mitjançant la segmentació per color i dissenyar i realitzar una aplicació amb Matlab que reculli peces detectades amb la càmera. L’abast del projecte inclou: l’estudi del llenguatge de programació VAL3 i disseny de l’ intèrpret de comandes, l’estudi de les llibreries de Matlab per comunicació mitjançant TCP/IP, per l’adquisició d’imatges, pel processament d’imatges i per la programació en C; el disseny de la aplicació recol·lectora de peces i la implementació de: un intèrpret de comandes en VAL3, la toolbox pel control del robot STAUBLI en Matlab i la aplicació recol·lectora de peces mitjançant el processament d’imatges en temps real també en Matlab

We have constructed a forward modelling code in Matlab, capable of handling several commonly used electrical and electromagnetic methods in a 1D environment. We review the implemented electromagnetic field equations for grounded wires, frequency and transient soundings and present new solutions in the case of a non-magnetic first layer. The CR1Dmod code evaluates the Hankel transforms occurring in the field equations using either the Fast Hankel Transform based on digital filter theory, or a numerical integration scheme applied between the zeros of the Bessel function. A graphical user interface allows easy construction of 1D models and control of the parameters. Modelling results are in agreement with other authors, but the time of computation is less efficient than other available codes. Nevertheless, the CR1Dmod routine handles complex resistivities and offers solutions based on the full EM-equations as well as the quasi-static approximation. Thus, modelling of effects based on changes in the magnetic permeability and the permittivity is also possible.

NURBS are widely used parametric approximation curves or surfaces. NURBS can be applied to the many applications. Examples of these applications are some computeraided design applications and some medical applications. Use of NURBS is very intuitive. The objective of this work was to implement the NURBS toolbox in the Matlab environment. Matlab is a program for many kinds of computational purposes. Matlab is also a programming language. NURBS toolbox implemented in this work offers a user an opportunity to use functions of this toolbox as parts of the user’s own programs. Current version of NURBS toolbox includes functions for NURBS curve and surface evaluation. The toolbox is designed such, that it allows extensions and enhancements in the future.

O sucesso na utilização de modelos matemáticos no estudo do transporte de íons no solo está intimamente ligado à precisão com que os parâmetros de transporte envolvidos neste processo são estabelecidos. De maneira geral, tais parâmetros são determinados mediante a resolução de um problema de otimização não linear em que os dados experimentais, obtidos em ensaios de deslocamento miscível, são ajustados a um modelo teórico. Neste sentido, a utilização de softwares de alta performance no ajuste destes parâmetros mostra-se vantajosa, uma vez que, além da consistência e da disponibilidade de ferramentas numéricas preexistentes, possibilita a incorporação de novas rotinas de acordo com o fenômeno que se queira simular. Sendo assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver, em ambiente MATLAB 6.5, uma rotina computacional para a otimização dos seguintes parâmetros de transporte: fator de retardamento (R) e coeficiente de dispersão (D). A rotina desenvolvida foi aplicada a dados experimentais de três ensaios de deslocamento miscível do íon potássio em colunas preenchidas com um Latossolo Vermelho- -Amarelo, fase arenosa. A qualidade dos ajustes obtidos foi avaliada utilizando-se do coeficiente de exatidão. Concluiu-se que a rotina proposta apresentou ótimo desempenho, o que, além de reforçar a consistência do método numérico utilizado, indica que a rotina proposta neste trabalho pode contribuir com o avanço dos estudos teóricos da dinâmica da água e de solutos em meios porosos não saturados.

The visualization of measurement data is important in the fields of engineering for research analysis and presentation purposes. A suitable visualization method for scientific visualization is needed when handling measurement data. Visualization methods and techniques will be presented throughout this work. They are the bases of scientific visualization from the abstract visualization process to the applied techniques suited for each situation. This work also proposes a visualization tool using the MATLAB® software. The tool was designed as general as possible to encompass the most needs in terms of measurement data visualization. It offers possibilities for both static and dynamic visualization of the data.

The demand for new telecommunication services requiring higher capacities, data rates and different operating modes have motivated the development of new generation multi-standard wireless transceivers. A multi-standard design often involves extensive system level analysis and architectural partitioning, typically requiring extensive calculations. In this research, a decimation filter design tool for wireless communication standards consisting of GSM, WCDMA, WLANa, WLANb, WLANg and WiMAX is developed in MATLAB® using GUIDE environment for visual analysis. The user can select a required wireless communication standard, and obtain the corresponding multistage decimation filter implementation using this toolbox. The toolbox helps the user or design engineer to perform a quick design and analysis of decimation filter for multiple standards without doing extensive calculation of the underlying methods.
