A resistência e o mecanismo de corrosão das ligas de alumínio 2024, 7010, 7050 e 7475 foram estudados em solução de NaCl. Os efeitos do tratamento térmico nas ligas, concentração de oxigênio, pH, adição de oxi-ânions e temperatura do meio constituem algumas das variáveis estudadas. Primeiramente, procedeu-se à caracterização físicoquímica dos materiais através de análise química e metalográfica, mediante microscopia eletrônica de varredura e espectroscopia de energia dispersiva. As ligas 2024, 7010, 7050 e 7475 como recebidas, recozidas e envelhecidas, revelaram a existência de partículas ternárias e quaternárias, constituídas por Al:Cu:Fe e Mg ou Zn. Também foi observado um maior número de partículas pequenas de composição variável situando-se, preferencialmente, nos contornos dos grãos. Os resultados dos ensaios de corrosão em meios aerados e desaerados indicam que o cromato é efetivo como inibidor da corrosão localizada em ambas ligas e que o molibdato somente na liga 7050. O efeito inibidor do tungstato se revela em meio desaerado e é comparativamente menor daquele observado com os outros oxi-ânions. As análises quantitativas de superfície das ligas após os ensaios de imersão indicam que ainda na presença de inibidor, se pites foram nucleados, eles crescem.

Alloy Al-7%Si-0,3Mg (AA356), having an excellent combination of properties such as low solidification shrinkage and good fluidity, good weldability, high wear resistance, high strength to weight particularly in the automotive and aerospace engineering. The refinement of the structure aluminum silicon eutectic alloy is a fairly common practice in the casting, through the treatment knows as modification. You can get the modification for the addition of chemicals and rare earths, these have the ability to modify the structure of the eutectic, but only sodium and strontium produce a strong action modifier when used in low concentrations. The modifying effect of silicon grain turns into a fibrous form branched and enveloped by the metal matrix in the form of a composite structure that has the highest limit of tensile strength, ductility and machinability. This work will be obtained AA356 alloy ingots using two different types of molds: metal mold and sand mold. Macrographs will be made in ingots obtained for observation of the macrostructures obtained in both types of ingots. Will be sampled at strategic locations of the ingots to correlate microstructure and cooling rate. The results showed that the material of the ingot has a strong influence on the resulting micro-andmacrostructure

The AA356 alloy is an alloy widely used in the automotive industry and aerospace due to its excellent mechanical properties. Refining the structure of eutectic silicon aluminum alloys is a fairly common practice in the foundry through treatment known as modification. This can be achieved by modifying agent adding chemicals such as contained in groups I and IIa of the periodic table and rare earths (europium, céreioi, praseodymium, neodymium, etc.). Has the ability to modify the structure of the eutectic, but only sodium and strontium produce an action modifier strong when used in low concentrations. The modifying effect of the shafts turn silicon into a fibrous form and branched surrounded by metallic matrix in the form of a composite structure that has the highest limit of tensile strength, ductility and machinability. In this work will be obtained ingots with and without the modifier type Al-10% Sr, made in sand molds and are generated and analyzed cooling curves and also the study of the macrostructure and microstructure of the solidified material. It was found that by adding the Al-Sr made shorten the solidification time and lower the grain size

This paper presents the study on the application of the electrolytic plasma for surface treatment of aluminum. A bibliographical study on the material of interest was preliminarily performed and later designed and built an electrolytic cell, including the excitation source. Unlike conventional electrolysis process, the plasma assisted carry on in the non-linear region of characteristic current/voltage curve. Therefore it requires for the on set of the process that the power supply operates on harder conditions than those on high current process. The plasma produced during the present investigation has temperatures in the range o 6,0.10 3 -7,0 .10 3 K, well above those found in conventional chemical process. It also shows a particular dynamic to promote changes on surface and to produce new materials. The plasma is generated by microdischarge in vapor or gas bubbles involved in physic-chemical processes in electrode regions of the electrolytic cell. The electrode material was the aluminum (7075). The Process Electrolytic Plasma Processing (EPP) is sensitive to various parameters such as operating voltage, current density, electrolyte, concentration of electrolyte, geometry of reactor, temperature of electrolytic solution and dynamic of the fluid in the cell. The experiments were carried on in order to find parameters for a stable abd steady operation. The choice for the electrolytic was silicate/alkali solution in various concentrations to operate in various voltage as well. Plasma was produced on negative (cathode) and positive (anode) electrode, in specific conditions. A stable operation on the cathode process was obtained with low concentration of the electrolytic in aqueous solution, current density around 250V effective voltage. This study aimed to analyze the cooling curves, micro and macrograph alloy Al-1 %Si without the addition of strontium modifier and with the addition of the same. One of the ways of improving mechanical properties of alloy Al -Si is through the modification process. For the experiments two billets of the alloy Al-1%Si cast iron mold in a billet with addition of 0.02% strontium by weight, and the other billet without the addition of modifier were fused. In the solidification process of billet temperature was monitored and recorded every second for later plotting in Origin 8 program and analyzes the cooling curves obtained. The billets were cut and passed by grinding and polishing to perform the macrograph and micrographs. The results concerning the macrograph indicated that billet without the addition of Strontium particle size obtained was more refined than the billet where the strontium modifier was added. Regarding the micrograph, photos stemmed from the optical microscope didn´t show the expected modification effect by the addition of Strontium. This suggests that the low amount of silicon (1 %) present in the alloy used in this study interfered in the change process, because according to the literature review, Strontium 0.022 % by weight is sufficient to fully modify an alloy with 7% Silicon. The aluminium alloys are used in many fields because of their versatility combined with the excellent aluminium’s properties, mentioned in the study. This study aims to compare the performance of polished Hard Metal, Hard Metal covered with TiB2 and High Speed Steel (HSS) tools, at the aluminium 2024 alloy’s turning, as a function of variation of some turning parameters such as: feed, depth of cut and cutting speed; and study the surface finish and the required power during turning by processing the output data, like analyze the chip’s features for each used tool. The results provide information of the tool’s material effects, when submitted to different turning conditions, about the output variable in question. In this way, it was possible to notice that although the Hard Metal covered with TiB2 tool has provided the better surface finish, the chip’s features were better when the turning was accomplished by the Polished Hard Metal tool. In relation to the required turning’s power, the lowest consumption occurred with the High Speed Steel tool

Este trabalho objetiva desenvolver uma análise da influência do Zr na modificação de características importantes em ligas de Al-EC-Si para aplicação como condutor de energia elétrica, almejando obter-se propriedades termorresistentes. Para a realização deste estudo, as ligas foram obtidas por fundição direta em lingoteira metálica em formato “U”, a partir do Al-EC, fixando-se na base o teor de 0,7% de Si, e em seguida, variando-se diferentes teores de Zr. Com o intuito de precipitar as partículas de segunda fase chamadas de dispersóides, que tem como principal característica a retenção da microestrutura deformada quando exposta a altas temperaturas, foi necessário submeter as ligas a um tratamento térmico de 310 ºC durante 24 horas afim de provocar o surgimento dos finos dispersóides de Al3Zr. Foram estabelecidas duas etapas para obtenção dos resultados: A ETAPA I composta da solidificação, usinagem e deformações obtidas com as ligas, gerando os fios que foram utilizados em todos os ensaios. A ETAPA II repete os mesmos procedimentos adotados na ETAPA I, porém é feito um tratamento térmico de 310ºC por 24 horas antes da deformação. A caracterização das amostras dos fios de cada liga quanto à termorresistividade, que obedeceu a exigência da COPEL (Companhia Paranaense de Energia), sendo submetidos à temperatura de 230 ºC por uma hora e foram feitos também tratamentos térmicos na temperatura de 310 e 390ºC, com a finalidade de se avaliar a estabilidade térmica das ligas estudadas. Verificou-se de maneira geral que teores crescentes de Zr provocam um refinamento de grão e aumentam o LRT e a estabilidade térmica da liga, tanto na ETAPA I quanto na ETAPA II. Foi observado ainda que na ETAPA I, a condutividade foi bastante afetada pelos teores de Zr, e que a inserção do tratamento térmico da ETAPA II melhorou a capacidade de conduzir energia elétrica na liga, particularmente para o diâmetro que sofreram maior deformação.

2,25Cr-1Mo alloy steels are widely used in petrochemical plant equipments working in high temperature conditions because of their good mechanical proprieties in these conditions. Although, when exposed for a long time at high temperature, in the rage of 343 °C to 593 °C, may present the temper embrittlement phenomenon. The component named stripper of assembly converter of fluid catalytic cracking unit (UFCC) of studied plant is manufactured using this material, which is subject to temper embrittlement. The phenomenon of temper embrittlement refers to progressive lose of toughness, making the material brittle. With embrittlement, equipaments manufactured with this material are under risks to suffer brittle fracture in the cool down and start-up situations of them, which can cause catastrophic failures. By this reason, this research studies presence of temper ebrittlement phenomenon on this material. To verify the toughness of the material is conventionally used charpy V-notch test. However, this test requires the removing of samples of the material to make specimens. This fact becomes critical when talk about structural components of an equipment. So, this research also studies a non-destructive test that can be executes in-situ, known as instrumented indentation, as an alternative detection of the phenomenon at the component stripper, by comparative of the mechanical proprieties obtained by conventional tests in similar samples
