De la serie aritmética a los irracionales un enfoque heurístico teorema de Lida

En el presente trabajo se expone un manera novedosa para generar números irracionales a partir del concepto de cortadura relativo a una serie aritmética natural e infinita. Se enuncia un teorema respectivo.

Clara Bog: An ombotrophic groundwater dependant terrestrial ecosystem (Submitted)

Comparison of flow duration curves for a weir draining an undrained raised peat with those generated 20 years previously reveal that more recent curves reflect to be flatter with a lower Q95/Q5 ratio. Comparison of the bog topography for the same period revealed that although marginal drainage/peat reclamation had resulted in desiccation of peat around the bog margin and more frequent intense runoff, the central part of the bog had subsided to form an enclosed basin ,resulting in the creation of newly formed lakes that gave the central part of the bog an improved capacity to store, and more slowly discharge, water. Interrogation of groundwater monitoring data revealed a net decline in groundwater levels of up to three metres in the glacial tills underlying the bog associated with deepening and expansion of a marginal drain network which penetrated the base of the peat. Comparing organic carbon levels in peat the central part of the bog over a ten year period revealed an overall increase, with changes being most marked in deeper fen peat layers. These findings suggest that the decline in groundwater levels in the peat substrate resulted in an increase in effective stress in the peat causing greater subsidence in the central part of the bog due to greater overall thickness. Study results highlight how the hydrology of apparently isolated obotrophic raised bog ecosystems may be influenced by groundwater pressures in deeper deposits, and how marginal drains may have the capacity to impact areas at significant distances.

O presente texto é uma tentativa de sistematização da experiência do Gabinete de Desenvolvimento Rural, da Câmara Municipal de Loulé, que funcionou entre os anos de 1990 e 1995. Em Portugal ainda são raras as sistematizações de experiências práticas enquadradas no âmbito do desenvolvimento rural. Por um lado, devido ao facto de as práticas de desenvolvimento rural serem recentes no nosso país; por outro lado, porque decorrendo do factor anterior, se acentua a tentação do voluntarismo que promove a acção em detrimento da reflexão.

[from back of painting] "The old house faced the river, and the artist has sketched the trees and old fences as they might have been at the time. The remains of the old well were found, and so the path from the house is represented as it probably appeared, together with the old fashioned well cover, common at that period. The artist has suggested a sunset background, in harmony with the evening of life of the old home and the passing of the great General. The house faced the east, so the western glory of the setting sun is most appropriate." The painting was done on paper and the frame is wooden. The artist's signature is located at the lower right. Letter and envelope addressed to Mr. Samuel Woodruff of St. Catharines. The postmarks are Montreal, Dec. 23, 1892 and St. Catharines, Dec. 29, 1892. Clara Cudney is acknowledging sending the mortgage on the land of her late husband Ezekiel. She says that Baker is still in the house but does not want to rent the barn. She asks if she should keep the rent or pass it on to Mr. Woodruff, Dec. 29, 1892.
