Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic rheumatic syndrome characterized by diffuse muscle-skeletal pain, and aerobic exercises represent a fundamental portion in therapeutic approach. Objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of aerobic exercises accomplished in the water of the sea (thalassotherapy) for women with FM and to compare with exercises accomplished in the swimming pool, involving a multidisciplinary team, composed by rheumatologists, physical therapists, students of physical therapy and students of physical education. Forty six (46) women with age between 18 and 60 years with FM were randomized in 2 groups: a swimming pool group (23 patients) and a sea group (23 patients). 80th groups trained a week with the same program of aerobic conditioning 3 times (60 minutes each) for 12 weeks. Ali the patients were evaluated, before and immediately after treatment, with Visual Analogical Scale (VAS) for pain and fatigue, number of tending points, Fibromyalgia Impact Ouestionnaire (FIO), Short Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36), Pittsburgh Sleep Ouality Index (PSOI) and Beck Oepression Inventory (BOI). For statistical analysis, it was used paired-t test for analysis intra-group and non-paired test for inter-groups analysis, significance levei of p <0,05. Four patients, of each group, didn't complete the training programo Groups were homogeneous and they were compared in initial evaluation, except for BOI (p <0,05). Both groups presented statistically significant improvement for ali appraised parameters in the post-treatment compared with initial evaluation, there were reduction of intensity of pain and fatigue, number of tending points, better functional capacity (FIO), life quality (SF-36), quality of sleep (PSQI) and depression indexes (BOI). However, in comparison among the groups, group of sea (thalassotherapy) presented better results for ali parameters, however with statistically significant difference just only for depression indexes (BOI). At the end, it was observed that accomplishment of aerobic exercises in sea water or swimming pool was effective as part of treatment for patients with FM. However, exercise programs with thalassotherapy seems to bring more benefits, mainly related to emotional aspects, could be a therapeutic option of low cost for patients with FM in our area

Introduction. Studies show that 70% of body weight in patients with stroke during the transfer from sitting to standing position is transferred to the uninvolved limb. Significantly interfering with activities of daily living. Objective. The influence of aquatic therapy on eight in the affected hemisphere during the transition from sitting to standing. Method. Participated in this study a patient with right hemiparesis, the protocol lasted eight sessions in a liquid medium. The data of activation of the gluteus muscle were collected from surface electromyography and data as the weight transfer was examined by baropodometry platform. Results. Initial electromyography (151.1uv right gluteus maximus and left gluteus maximus 229.1uv) and Final electromyography (113.6 uv right gluteus maximus and left gluteus maximus113.3uv). Evolution was 19% in weight transferin paretic hemibody compared the pre and post intervention. Conclusion. The results showed that treatment was favorable to the patient, because at the end of application of the observed activation of the gluteus maximus and improved weight-bearing, and consequently these factors interfered positively in the security and independe in transferring from sitting to standing position.

Transient mammary gland development and lactation can occur eventually in weanling foals, yearlings, and adult mares without previous or recent history of pregnancy. The etiology of this condition has not been well documented, and there is limited information on the occurrence, frequency of episodes, composition, and treatment of galactorrhea secretion. This article reports a case of Brazilian Sport Horse mare, aged 10 years, with persistent lactation during 5 months. The treatment consisted of bromocriptine 0.04 mg/kg, b.i.d., orally, for 10 days, associated with hydrotherapy for 20 minutes, twice daily. After 20 days of the treatment onset, the mare was reevaluated, and a significant decrease in the volume of the udder and the amount of secretion produced was noted, and its aspect was clearer (serous) and consisted of more fluid compared with the one collected before treatment. No other clinical alterations or associated diseases were identified. Based on these findings, we suggest the diagnosis of idiopathic inappropriate lactation. Although there is no information about pharmacokinetics and description of the oral bromocriptine use in horses, being a therapeutic option for inappropriate lactation treatment in mares, it was effective at the recommended dosage.
