Influência da mineralogia dos sedimentos das bacias hidrográficas dos rios Mogi-Guaçu e Pardo na composição química das águas de abastecimento público

This work studied bottom sediment from catchment area of 13 stations of water treatment of Mogi-Guaçu and Pardo river basins, through identification of mineralogical matrix and its correlation with potential bioavailable metal concentrations. The main clay minerals present were kaolinite and illite. The values of iron and manganese grades were derived from reddish-purple soil, which is rich of such elements. They had higher values on areas with weak vegetation cover compared with other areas linked with more vegetation density. Higher values of calcium at Campestrinho station (IG 69) were associated to occurrence by weathering of calcium feldspars markedly present on regional porphiritic acid rocks. The concentrations of phosphorous are characteristically high on areas near urbanized regions.

Occurrence of Euplatypus parallelus, Euplatypus sp. (col.: Euplatypodidae) and Xyleborus affinis (col.: Scolytidae) in Pinus sp. in Ribas do Rio Pardo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

Wood borer species of the families Euplatypodidae and Scolytidae were observed attacking trees of Pinus sp. in the Municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in March 2000. This plantation had been previously burned in an accidental fire in January 2000, causing the trees to become partially or totally unhealthy, rendering them more susceptible to attack of these pests. Galleries of these wood borers were opened with a chisel to observe parameters such as their direction and form of these galleries. Species observed as wood borers of Pinus sp. were Euplatypus parallelus, Euplatypus sp. (Coleoptera: Euplatypodidae) and Xyleborus affinis (Coleoptera: Scolytidae).

f. 16.11.1861 i Pulkovo, Ryssland d. 27.12.1932 i Helsingfors Arvid Järnefelt kan beskrivas som sekelskiftets mest kända idéhistoriska författare. Järnefelt, som också utbildat sig till vicehäradshövding, inledde sin karriär som fennoman, men upplevde senare en tolstojansk väckelse vilket återspeglades i de litterära verkens kristna pacifism och radikalism. Debutverket Isänmaa (1893, sv. Fosterlandet, översatt till svenska år 1893) är en utvecklingsroman som behandlar den finskspråkiga bildade klassens problem och tidens ideella strömningar. Verket Heräämiseni (1894, sv. Mitt uppvaknande) är en skildring av Järnefelts omvändelse till tolstojanismen.
