The wrestler's name is Mike Sharpe and the number on the reverse is 142, the second card is stamped 704, the third is stamped 599, and the fourth is stamped 615. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario and was part of one of the most successful tag teams in history (with brother Ben Sharpe). Mike's son, Mike Jr. also had a successful career as a pro wrestler under the name Iron Mike Sharpe through the 1970s and 1980s. The honours include the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Hydropower Energy Simulation Using Mike 11 Model; A Case Study In South Germany's Small Run-Of-River Hydropower Plants

Renewable energy production is a basic supplement to stabilize rapidly increasing global energy demand and skyrocketing energy price as well as to balance the fluctuation of supply from non-renewable energy sources at electrical grid hubs. The European energy traders, government and private company energy providers and other stakeholders have been, since recently, a major beneficiary, customer and clients of Hydropower simulation solutions. The relationship between rainfall-runoff model outputs and energy productions of hydropower plants has not been clearly studied. In this research, association of rainfall, catchment characteristics, river network and runoff with energy production of a particular hydropower station is examined. The essence of this study is to justify the correspondence between runoff extracted from calibrated catchment and energy production of hydropower plant located at a catchment outlet; to employ a unique technique to convert runoff to energy based on statistical and graphical trend analysis of the two, and to provide environment for energy forecast. For rainfall-runoff model setup and calibration, MIKE 11 NAM model is applied, meanwhile MIKE 11 SO model is used to track, adopt and set a control strategy at hydropower location for runoff-energy correlation. The model is tested at two selected micro run-of-river hydropower plants located in South Germany. Two consecutive calibration is compromised to test the model; one for rainfall-runoff model and other for energy simulation. Calibration results and supporting verification plots of two case studies indicated that simulated discharge and energy production is comparable with the measured discharge and energy production respectively.

Al fine di contestualizzare e rendere più comprensibile, specie per un lettore italiano, la proposta di traduzione in questione, verranno descritti dapprima l’autore ed il genere letterario al quale appartiene il libro, quindi la trama del libro stesso. Seguirà il commento della traduzione, nel quale si evidenzieranno alcuni degli elementi particolarmente difficili da rendere in italiano – talvolta dal punto di vista lessicale, più spesso dal punto di vista culturale. La scelta di affrontare l’opera di Gayle nasce soprattutto dall’interesse verso uno dei corsi svolti all’università, grazie al quale ho avuto l’occasione di scoprire, in lingua inglese, il genere letterario comunemente chiamato Chick Lit; The To-Do List, che appartiene a quella che potremmo definire come “Chick Lit maschile”e che presenta moltissimi riferimenti alla cultura britannica, rappresentava la fonte perfetta per mettermi alla prova ed effettuare una traduzione che fosse, oltre che fedele al testo originale, comprensibile e immediata per un ipotetico lettore italiano.

Rick Henderson and Mike Pochin: A Right Result? Advocacy, justice and empowerment

As Henderson and Pochin point out in the introduction to their book, recent years have seen the concept of advocacy given increasing prominence in central and local government policy in the UK. It made an appearance in local community care and long-stay hospital closure plans. It features in reforms to the health service in England and Wales, in the form of the Patient Advocacy and Liaison Services (DoH 2000), while proposed changes to the mental health system also accord a key role to service users' advocates. In addition, Valuing People, central government's proposals on the future strategy for people with learning disabilities, promised the widespread development of advocacy services (DoH 2001). Advocacy, traditionally located on the margins of state activity in the UK, is experiencing something of an attempt to shift it into mainstream policy and service provision. This makes it a significant time to review the core values and practices that have distinguished advocacy from other forms of professional and voluntary intervention and to explore how these may be preserved and developed in the contemporary context.
