Progettazione delle procedure necessarie alla realizzazione di piattaforme off-shore, grandi e complesse strutture intelaiate di pilastri, diagonali, travi primarie e travi secondarie, progettate per insediarsi in ambiente marino ed idonee ad ospitare impianti per l'estrazione di idrocarburi. Durante la fase di progettazione si procede con l'ideare la struttura della piattaforma fino a definire le caratteristiche di ogni componente: tale fase ha come esito la redazione dei project drawings (disegni di progetto). La fase di realizzazione è quella che interessa propriamente il lavoro svolto: a seguito della progettazione infatti emergono nuove problematiche a livello applicativo e costruttivo che necessitano di essere studiate e risolte preventivamente alla costruzione fisica dell'opera. In particolar modo è necessario definire quali parti della struttura possono essere acquistate e quali invece devono essere realizzate su misura. Definite le modalità costruttive, viene effettuato lo studio riguardante la movimentazione dei vari piani della piattaforma, movement, e successivamente le problematiche relative al sollevamento degli stessi, lifting. Le due procedure necessitano di raffinate valutazioni euristiche ed analitiche per garantire che la struttura non collassi.

Survey Article: Characterizations of the Saito-Kurokawa Lifting

There are a variety of characterizations of Saito-Kurokawa lifts from elliptic modular forms to Siegel modular forms of degree 2. In addition to giving a survey of known characterizations, we apply a recent result of Weissauer to provide a number of new and simpler characterizations of Saito-Kurokawa lifts.

Effects of a 6-Week Jump Training Program Combined with Two Lifting Programs

We evaluated the effects of a 6-week jump training program on 12 college basketball players using strength training programs. The Leg Press (LP) group participated in a strength program using the leg press, and the Power Clean group (PC) used the power clean exercise instead of the leg press. Both groups participated in a 6-week jump training program. Pre-program measurements recorded jump scores for one-foot take off and two-foot take offs. The LP group had an average pre-program vertical of 72.60 and 88.05 cm for the 2-foot and 1-foot take-off for an increase of about 1.7 cm. The PC group had an average post-program vertical of 76.2 cm for the 2-foot take-off for an increase of 3.6 cm, and 90.81 cm for the 1-foot take-off for an increase of about 2.75 cm. The comparison of average increases between the LP and PC groups was not significant for either the 2-foot or 1-foot take off.

Myanmar's non-resource export potential after the lifting of economic sanctions : a gravity model analysis

Easing of economic sanctions by Western countries in 2012 augmented the prospect that Myanmar will expand its exports. On the other hand, a sharp rise in natural resource exports during the sanctions brings in a concern about the "Dutch disease". This study projects Myanmar's export potential by calculating counterfactual export values with an augmented gravity model that takes into account the effects of natural resource exports on non-resource exports. Without taking into account the effects of natural resource exports, the counterfactual predicted values of non-resource exports during 2004–2011 are more than five times larger than the actual exports. If we take into account the effects, however, the predicted values are smaller than the actual exports. The empirical results imply that the "Dutch disease" is at stake in Myanmar than any other Southeast Asian countries.

Cancellation zone in supersonic lifting wing theory

BASING their work on a linear theory, Evvard1 and Krasilshchikova2'3 independently developed an expression that yields the perturbation generated by a thiri lifting wing of arbitrary planform flying at supersonic speed on a point placed on the wing plane inside its planform,1 or both on and above the wing plane.2 This point must be influenced by two leading edges, one supersonic and the other partially subsonic. Although these authors followed different approaches, their methods concur in showing the existence of a perfectly defined cancellation zone. In this Note, the Evvard approach is generalized to the case solved by Krasilshchikova. Circumventing the latter's lengthy and somewhat complex approach, Evvard's simple method seems to be useful at least for educational purposes.
