Objetivou-se identificar a prevalência das alterações de flora vaginal em gestantes de baixo risco, sua associação à sintomatologia referida e exame ginecológico. É estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal, desenvolvido no serviço público de atenção básica de Botucatu, SP, no período de 2006 a 2008, com 289 gestantes, amostradas de forma estratificada por unidade. Realizou-se exame do conteúdo vaginal, utilizando-se coloração pelo método de Gram e pesquisa de Trichomonas vaginalis em meio líquido de Diamond. Desconsiderando-se as associações, a prevalência de flora vaginal alterada foi de 49,5%, sendo as mais frequentes: vaginose bacteriana (20,7%), candidíase vaginal (11,8%) e flora intermediária (11,1%). Os dados apontam elevada prevalência das alterações de flora vaginal, com pouca associação à sintomatologia, mas associação com achados do exame ginecológico. Considerando-se as repercussões maternas e perinatais indesejáveis e a prática laboratorial exequível, sugere-se o estabelecimento de rotina para diagnóstico das alterações de flora vaginal em gestantes de baixo risco.

Folhas de Austroplenckia populnea (mangabarana, marmelinho do campo) foram submetidos a estudo fitoquímico. do extrato hexânico foram isolados e identificados três triterpenos pentacíclicos e um sesquiterpeno agarofurânico inédito. Realizou-se testes de atividade antiespermatogência utilizando parte deste extrato. Os resultados mostraram uma redução significativa do número de espermatozóides no epidídimo.

Serum samples from 107 cervids were examined for Toxoplasma gondii antibodies using indirect hemagglutination (IHA), indirect immunofluorescence (IFA), enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Dot-ELISA. Samples were obtained from 66 marsh deer (Blastocerms dichotomus) in the State of São Paulo (Brazil) and from 41 pampas deer (Ozotocerus bezoarticus) in the State of Goias (Brazil). Antibodies to T. gondii were found in 23 (22%) of the deer, with 18 and 5 positive samples, respectively, for B. dichotomus and O. bezoarticus. The highest prevalence of T. gondii antibodies were young adults (32%), following by adults (27%) and fawns (13%). Only one serum sample (8%) from a newborn fawn was positive in the serological tests. The convenience of the Dot-ELISA test is obvious when compared with other serological tests for both laboratory or field surveys, mainly due to its features of practicability and reagent stability.

Objective: to analyze the importance of physical therapy in the Family Health Strategy (FHS). Methodology: integrative literature review, guided by the research question << What is the importance of physical therapy in the FHS? >>. The survey was conducted in the Virtual Health Library and in the website Google Scholar in November and December 2012. The inclusion criteria were: fully available scientific study, published between 2007 and 2012, with free access, and having at least one of the DeCS selected in the title. Results: we found out that the importance of physical therapist’s action at the FHS has been recognized both by professionals included in the teams and users of health care units, showing that, by means of the physical therapist’s preventive and clinical action, the costs and demands in the tertiary care can be reduced. Conclusion: the population and the professionals recognize the physical therapist’s positive impact on the FHS.

Amphibian populations worldwide have been suffering declines generated by habitat degradation, loss, fragmentation and habitat split. With habitat loss and fragmentation in the landscape comes habitat split, which is the separation between the adult anuran habitat and breeding sites, forcing individuals to move through matrix during breeding seasons. Thus, habitat split increases the chance of extinction of amphibians with aquatic larval development and acts as a filter in the selection of species having great influence on species richness and community structure. The use of functional diversity allows us to consider the identity and characteristics of each species to understand the effects of fragmentation processes. The objective of this study was to estimate the effects of habitat split, as well as habitat loss in the landscape, on amphibians functional diversity (FD) and species richness (S). We selected 26 landscapes from a database with anuran surveys of Brazilian Atlantic Forest. For each landscape we calculated DF, S and landscape metrics at multiple scales. To calculate the DF we considered traits that influenced species use and persistence in the landscape. We refined maps of forest remnants and water bodies for metrics calculation. To relate DF and S (response variables) to landscape variables (explanatory variables), we used a model selection approach, fitting generalized linear models (GLMS) and making your selection with AICc. We compared the effect of model absence and models with habitat split, habitat amount and habitat connectivity effects, as well as their interaction. The most plausible models for S were the sum and interaction between habitat split in 7.5 km scale. For anurans with terrestrial development, habitat amount was the only plausible explanatory variable, in the 5 km scale. For anurans with aquatic larvae habitat amount in larger scales and the addition of habitat amount and habitat split were plausible...

Enquadramento – A febre na criança constitui uma das principais manifestações que impul-siona os pais na procura dos cuidados de saúde diferenciados, resultando na utilização ina-propriada de recursos. Objetivos – Identificar as variáveis sociodemográficas que interferem no conhecimento e nas atitudes dos pais perante a criança com febre; avaliar a influência do número de filhos no conhecimento e nas atitudes; identificar as fontes de informação que influenciam o conheci-mento e as atitudes dos pais. Material e Método – Estudo quantitativo, transversal, descritivo e correlacional. Recorreu-se ao questionário que inclui a caracterização sociodemográfica, contextual da criança, variá-veis clínicas de fontes de informação e questões que avaliam o conhecimento e as atitudes dos pais perante a febre na criança. A amostragem é não probabilística por conveniência (144 pais/cuidadores). Resultados – Amostra predominantemente feminina (86.8%), os homens são mais velhos (M=34.05 anos .6.45 anos); cerca de 9 em cada 10 das crianças eram acompanhadas pela mãe. Os sintomas que mais preocupam e levaram os participantes a recorrer ao Serviço de Urgência foram: vómitos/desidratação (66.4%), mau estado geral (64.6%), dificuldade respirató-ria (52.1%); em 58.5% dos casos de febre sem foco poder-se-ia ter utilizado os cuidados de saúde primários; a idade da criança e o sexo dummy revelaram-se preditoras dos conhecimen-tos e o sexo preditor das atitudes; as mulheres e os homens com mais idade e com filhos mais jovens possuem melhores conhecimentos; as mulheres têm atitudes mais adequadas. Conclusões – As mulheres possuem conhecimentos intermédios e revelam melhor atitude perante a febre. Quanto maior a escolaridade melhor é o conhecimento e os participantes que procuram como fonte de informação um profissional de saúde, possuem atitudes mais ade-quadas. Assume grande relevância a aquisição de competências que proporcionem aos pais/cuidadores ferramentas que os ajudem a lidar com a fobia da febre. In the present work, electrochemically reduced-graphene oxide/cobalt oxide composites for charge storage electrodes were prepared by a one-step pulsed electrodeposition route on stainless steel current collectors and after that submitted to a thermal treatment at 200 degrees C. A detailed physico-chemical characterization was performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The electrochemical response of the composite electrodes was studied by cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge curves and related to the morphological and phase composition changes induced by the thermal treatment. The results revealed that the composites were promising materials for charge storage electrodes for application in redox supercapacitors, attaining specific capacitances around 430 F g(-1) at 1 A g(-1) and presenting long-term cycling stability. This study was intended to investigate how the urban form has been influencing the changes in the climate of the city and make a correlation between the climate and the thermal sensation of the users of open spaces. The research was developed in the district of Petrópolis in Natal/ RN whose occupation has been almost consolidated. Among other reasons, this district was selected because it was planned considering the environmental aspects of comfort. The methodologies used are based on KATZSCHNER (1997) and OLIVEIRA (1988) studies, which suggest the drawing and analysis of maps of the area under study, including topography, height of the buildings, land use, green areas, and types of soil pavement, as well as measurement of the environmental variables: air temperature, relative humidity, direction and wind speed for a comparative study. As part of this, study local users of the district were interviewed about their thermal sensations in open spaces. For the statistical analysis, data was collected at 10 distinct points characterized by BUSTOS ROMERO (2002), being 8 within the district and 2 at different places (outside the district), at climatologic stations, in 3 periods (August/2000, January/2002 and June/2002), for 4 consecutive days for each measurement (from Sunday to Wednesday) at the time of lower and higher temperatures in the city, 6:00 am and 1:00 pm, respectively. At the same time interviews were carried out with users of the open spaces in the area, totaling 171 valid formularies. The urban form showed a rather leveled topography, great diversity of land use and height of the buildings, with the existence of an area mostly occupied with high buildings, very little green area and soil practically impermeable. The statistical analysis showed high temperature and humidity levels. The wind direction is predominantly Southeast with extremely variable speeds. When the data from this district is compared with the data from other areas in the city and its outskirt, it was observed that this district is hotter and less ventilated than the others; besides, most users said that they felt uncomfortable in the local environmental conditions. The results of the analysis generated a zoning for the district with recommendations for soil occupation. The profile of the user was defined regarding the thermal comfort, as well as some discussion about the comfort parameters, including the proposal of limiting areas of temperature and humidity for the thermal comfort in the open spaces

O Grupo de Investigação de Bioacústica e Sistemas (GIBS) da Escola Superior Tecnologia da Saúde de Coimbra proporciona várias actividades entre as quais o desenvolvimento de softwares aplicados na área da saúde. Neste trabalho vai ser abordado este tema, em particular, o teste “Peabody picture vocabular test”, um dos testes desenvolvidos no GIBS que vai ser associado a um sistema de informação, por forma a automatizar e dinamizar o procedimento do teste. O teste consiste em disponibilizar uma série de imagens a uma criança, que vai seleccionar as que conhece. Esta escolha tem em conta a idade da criança, bem como o seu desenvolvimento cognitivo, por isso este conjunto de imagens é amplo. Das imagens que a criança seleccionar, o protótipo vai gerar um conjunto de quatro imagens aleatórias, e reproduzir o som alusivo a uma delas. Dado que a criança seleccionou as imagens, caso não consiga identificar existe um potencial problema e o técnico encontra-se em condições de poder realizar mais testes para o identificar. No caso de identificar, o teste decorre sem problemas sendo que no final, o técnico terá acesso aos dados verificando quantas acertou em cada uma das intensidades apresentadas. Estas informações podem ser para cada um dos ouvidos em separado, caso se utilizem auscultadores, ou para ambos os ouvidos se o exame for realizado em campo livre. Actualmente o teste é realizado, numa sala acústica auxiliada por um audiométrico, que ajuda a regular a intensidade do som reproduzido e para qual dos ouvidos vai ser reproduzido. Essas mesmas condições serão mantidas. No entanto, o audiómetro funcionará em conjunto com um computador, com uma versão do protótipo a “correr”, substituindo os cartões com as imagens utilizados actualmente. Para além de ser um sistema totalmente automático, conta ainda com a vantagem de armazenar todas as variáveis associadas a cada teste, desde os dados do utente, os dados do técnico (utilizador), os dados do teste e os resultados. A fim de validar este protótipo, foi empreendido um grupo de experiências, abrangendo aspectos particulares e distintos em cada um deles, verificando-se a adequação do modelo e a utilidade do recurso, automatizado, à experiência passada. Os resultados obtidos nesta avaliação permitem considerar que o protótipo cumpre os requisitos pré-estabelecidos.

O principal objetivo desta dissertação é analisar a classe de distribuições de Panjer, algumas das suas extensões e a utilização destas na modelação do risco coletivo. Inicialmente, são referidos alguns momentos históricos importantes no estudo da família de distribuições de Panjer e no desenvolvimento do modelo do risco coletivo. Apresentamos também alguns artigos publicados nos últimos vinte anos sobre estas temáticas. Depois, são apresentados os conceitos e instrumentos fundamentais na construção das extensões da família de Panjer e na construção recursiva das distribuições do modelo do risco coletivo. Tais conceitos e instrumentos incluem a função geradora de probabilidades, a transformada de Laplace, a mistura e modi cação de distribuições de probabilidade. Seguidamente, são caracterizadas as distribuições discretas pertencentes à classe de Panjer, distribuições essas denominadas de distribuições de contagem básicas, de nidas a recursão de Panjer e duas suas extensões e apresentadas as distribuições pertencentes a cada uma delas. Finalmente, é apresentado o modelo do risco coletivo, designadamente o modelo composto das indemnizações agregadas, cujas distribuições, neste caso, são construídas através do método recursivo. São também expostos dois métodos de construção de distribuições aritméticas. A dissertação termina com a dedução de alguns modelos particulares para o risco coletivo, obtidos com o auxílio dos programas informáticos Mathematica e R.
