Lyhyen kantaman radiotekniikoiden hyödyntäminen mahdollistaa uudenlaisten paikallisten palveluiden käytön ja vanhojen palveluiden kehittämisen. Kulunvalvonta on päivittäisenä palveluna valittu työn esimerkkisovellukseksi. Useita tunnistus- ja valtuutustapoja tutkitaan, ja julkisen avaimen infrastruktuuri on esitellään tarkemmin. Langattomat tekniikat Bluetooth, Zigbee, RFID ja IrDA esitellän yleisellä tasolla langattomat tekniikat –luvussa. Bluetooth-tekniikan rakennetta, mukaan lukien sen tietoturva-arkkitehtuuria, tutkitaan tarkemmin. Bluetooth-tekniikkaa käytetään työssä suunnitellun langattoman kulunvalvontajärjestelmän tietojen siirtoon. Kannettava päätelaite toimii käyttäjän henkilökohtaisena luotettuna laitteena, jota voi käyttää avaimena. Käyttäjän tunnistaminen ja valtuuttaminen perustuu julkisen avaimen infrastruktuuriin. Ylläpidon allekirjoittamat varmenteet sisältävät käyttäjän julkisen avaimen lisäksi tietoa hänestä ja hänen oikeuksistaan. Käyttäjän tunnistaminen kulunvalvontapisteissä tehdään julkisen ja salaisen avaimen käyttöön perustuvalla haaste-vastaus-menetelmällä. Lyhyesti, järjestelmässä käytetään Bluetooth-päätelaitteita langattomina avaimina.

La gestión de la reputación on-line por parte de las compañías hoteleras : El papel del community manager

Mi trabajo de disertación se desarrolla en el contexto del Grado de Comunicación de la UOC y la finalidad es establecer un marco teórico actualizado sobre el concepto de reputación on-line aplicable al sector hotelero. En este sentido entiendo necesario partir del análisis de tres hoteles de Palma de Mallorca para obtener un diagnóstico de reputación y poderafirmar que existe una relación entre su reputación on-line y la obtención de mayores ingresos. Por este motivo, llevaré a cabo un estudio de caso comparativo con la herramienta de monitorización SocialVane del Hotel Gran Meliá Victoria con sus competidores más directos.

Authentication and authorization service for a community network

Wireless community networks became popular in uniting people with common interests. This thesis presents authentication and authorization service for a wireless community network using captive portal approach including ability to authenticate clients from associated networks thereby combining multiple communities in a syndicate. The system is designed and implemented to be reliable, scalable and flexible. Moreover, the result includes software management system, which automatically performs software updates at network’s access points. Future development of the system can be concentrated on an improvement of the software management system.

Aquest projecte consisteix en un petit servei web de comptabilitat desenvolupat amb Vaadin framework, MySQL i Java. Dita aplicació permet crear factures i altres documents i portar-ne unes estadístiques de les figures relacionades amb aquesta comptabilitat. El fet d'utilitzar Vaadin permet desenvolupar aquest servei web mitjançant Java. Aquesta entrega es composa d'una presentació, la memòria i el producte (servei web+BD+instruccions).

Nursing staffs' perceptions of a generic service manager position

The recent reengineering within the health care industry has challenged many assumptions regarding traditional structures and roles. Within a product-line management structure, the traditional viewpoint that those who manage patient care areas must have a nursing background, is an example of one such assumption being challenged. The nursing profession is often seen as the greatest obstacle to the implementation of a product-line management structure and generic manager positions (does not require a nursing background), due to the perceived loss of professional identity. This qualitative study focused on how nursing staff within a chronic care and rehabilitation facility perceived a generic service manager position. Focus groups were conducted in three phases, over a 14 month period of time. The data collected from the focus groups were then coded according to common themes. Each phase was analyzed independently, with the study concluding with an analysis and interpretation of the collective results. The results of this study revealed a significant shift in how the nursing staff perceived their professional identity and accountability in light of the implementation of the generic Service Manager position. Initial reactions of personal and professional vulnerability and resentment were seen to transform into an increased ability to explicitly articulate the role of nursing.
