Tradicionalmente, o método dos mínimos quadrados tem sido empregado na inversão não linear de dados de campo potencial. No caso em que as observações dos campos gravimétrico ou magnético contém apenas ruído Gaussiano. O método dos mínimos quadrados não apresenta problemas. Entretanto, quando as observações são perturbadas por ruído não Gaussiano, ou mesmo por ruído não aleatório, como é o caso de muitos ruídos geológicos, o método dos mínimos quadrados torna-se bastante ineficiente, e métodos alternativos devem ser empregados a fim de produzir interpretações realísticas. Neste trabalho, uma comparação é feita entre os métodos dos mínimos quadrados, dos mínimos absolutos e do ajuste-M, aplicados à inversão não linear de dados de campo potencial. A comparação é efetuada usando-se dados teóricos, onde diversas situações geológicas são simuladas. Os resultados mostram que na presença de ruído geológico, caracterizado por pequeno corpo raso acima do corpo principal, ou por corpo grande, adjacente ao corpo principal, o ajuste-M apresenta desempenho muito superior ao dos mínimos quadrados e dos mínimos absolutos. Na presença de ruído Gaussiano, entretanto, o ajuste-M tem um desempenho inferior aos outros dois métodos. Como o ruído Gaussiano é um ruído branco, parte dele pode ser removido por um filtro passa baixa adequado, sem muita perda do sinal, o que não ocorre com o ruído geológico que contém componentes importantes de baixo número de onda. Desse modo o ajuste-M se torna uma ferramenta importante na interpretação de áreas geologicamente complexas, onde é comum a contaminação das anomalias por ruído geológico. Os três métodos em estudo são aplicados a uma anomalia magnética real causada por uma intrusão de diabásio em forma de dique, em sedimentos arenosos da formação Piauí na Bacia do Parnaíba. Os três métodos apresentaram resultados semelhantes indicando que tanto o nível de ruído Gaussiano como geológico são baixos nesta anomalia.

Neste trabalho é apresentada uma análise do esquema de inversão linear para a estimativa de anisotropia na vizinhança de um receptor situado em um poço a partir de da componente vertical do vetor de vagarosidade e do vetor de polarização de ondas P medidops em experimentos de VSP walkaway multiazimutal. Independente do meio acima do geofone (homogêneo ou heterogêneo) e da forma do poço (pode ser direcional ou curvado, vertical e inclinado), a inversão é feita a partir de uma aproximação de primeira ordem em torno de um meio isotrópico de referência. O esquma da inversão é analisado considerando fatores como: o nível de ruído nos dados, o tipo de onda P, o grau de anisotropia do meio, a escolha dos parâmetros no meio isotrópico de referência e grau de heterogeneidade do meio. Os resultados são apresentados.

Esta dissertação apresenta um método para estimar a orientação de fratura de um meio partindo do pressuposto que este se comporta efetivamente como um meio transversalmente isotrópico (TI). Desta forma, a orientação de fratura é obtida a partir da estimativa do eixo de simetria de um meio TI. Esta estimativa é obtida a partir dos vetores de vagarosidade e polarização de ondas qP medidos em experimentos VSP Walkaway. O processo de inversão é baseado em equações linearizadas dos vetores de vagarosidade e polarização de ondas qP e os parâmetros fracamente anisotrópicos do meio. São apresentados testes numéricos, em que a sensibilidade a fatores como grau de anisotropia, geometria do levantamento, tipo de onda utilizado e nível de ruído são analisados. São também apresentados os resultados para um conjunto de dados reais.

A launching rocket and its payload are submitted to strong acoustic loads in some moments of its flight like lift off, during transonic flight and in the instant of maximum dynamic pressure. These loads could affect the payload and other rocket internal equipment. It must be taken into account that in the higher stages, where delicate control equipment and the payload are placed, the acoustic excitations are dominant. The development of electrocatalysts for the oxidation of methanol and ethanol is very important, because these alcohols may be used in the anode fuel cells which convert chemical energy directly into electrical energy with high efficiency, cleanly and with low noise. Thus, this study reports to the synthesis of nanocatalysts of PtAu supported on carbon by microemulsion method. The physical characterization of these catalysts is performed through the techniques of X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The catalytic activity of the prepared materials was studied using conventional electrochemical techniques and also the technique of spectro-electrochemical in situ FTIR, which allows identification of intermediates and products of the reactions. From the x-ray diffraction, it was observed that the thermal treatment applied to catalysts favored incorporation of Au into the crystal lattice of Pt,that is, increased the formation of PtAu alloy. Micrographs indicated particle size about 3 nm to materials not heat treated and 9 nm to materials subjected to thermal treatment (heating at 150 ° C for 1h and 30 min in argon atmosphere). Current density oxidation of methanol on PtAu / C were superior to pure platinum. Spectroscopic results indicated the presence of formate in solution in 50:50 and the composition showed bands for CO2, indicating complete oxidation, in lower potential. During ethanol oxidation on the catalyst PtAu, the main product formed was acetate, product of incomplete oxidation. The good performance for methanol oxidation can be attributed to large amounts of oxygen species adsorbed on the catalyst surface, or an electronic effect.

The railroad, from 1870 and on, becomes an usual complaining in the press s and politician elite s speeches, especially because of Natal s geographic isolation. The implantation of two railroads in the capital territory Estrada de Ferro de Natal a Nova Cruz, afterwards part of Great Western Railway Company network, and Estrada de Ferro Central do Rio Grande do Norte had serious implications in the urban environment. While railroad s structures were already consolidated, other transportation mechanisms were being implanted in the first decades of the 20th century, such as trams lines, which, by the way, was a transport modal that also used rails as a dislocation meaning. Considering these questions, we may ask: how come railroads and tramways demands, roads and buildings had influenced the internal organization of Natal? We work with the general hypothesis that the influence of technical networks, composed by tramways and railroads, over Natal s urban space happened in a diversified way, sometimes consolidating social aspects in certain areas, sometimes improving the occupation of others. The impact over the city s territory also happens in a diversified way between the buildings/railroad s complexes and the pathways. The different scale of the train in comparison to the trams velocity, size, noise level, flow, among others is also a cause to the different consequences in urban environment. The main objective of this work is to understand the role of circulation technical networks in the construction process of urban space in Natal, as a way to contribute to the urban historiography about the subject. The time frame adopted, between 1881 and 1937, marks the time path of railroads and tramways in Rio Grande do Norte: 1881 is the year of railroad s first section inauguration from Natal to São José do Mipibu as well of the railroad complex in the Republic Square in Natal; the year of 1937 marks the beginning of tramways declination process in the city. At this time railroads and tramways had to face more intensively the competition of motor vehicles. The theory reference adopted is based on concepts and analysis of authors, such as Flávio Villaça and Roberto Lobato Corrêa references to the concepts of urban structure , localization and accessibility and Gabriel Dupuy to explain the concept of urban technical networks . These references reveal the conflict of different realities in the urban universe interests and values which is an important factor about the construction of urban space. The information sources used were from two distinctive natures: primary, journals of the time studied and official government reports, and secondary, based on other works about the subject. It was also used by this study iconographic source, especially images from the data base of the research group História da Cidade, do Território e do Urbanismo .

El objetivo de este trabajo es la determinación de los beneficios económicos que obtendrían los hogares de zonas residenciales en la ciudad de Medellín (Colombia) por la reducción del ruido por tráfico vehicular. Para tal propósito se utilizó el método de valoración contingente en combinación con información de percepción de calidad acústica de los hogares. Este enfoque permitió estimar la disponibilidad a pagar esperada por la reducción de un decibel en los niveles de ruido a los cuales están expuestos los hogares. Los resultados demuestran que si  se aplica para la ciudad un programa, política o proyecto que logre una reducción generalizada de 5 decibeles en el ruido por tráfico vehicular los beneficios económicos agregados ascienden a 397 millones de pesos colombianos al año. El estudio concluye que estos resultados generan conocimiento importante para hacer más efectiva la toma de decisiones en el marco de políticas regionales con respecto a la gestión de la reducción del ruido por tráfico vehicular.

Este trabalho apresenta um estudo realizado em um grupo de trabalhadores de uma indústria de processamento de madeira aglomerada, expostos a níveis de pressão sonora elevada durante a jornada de trabalho. O reconhecimento, avaliação, controle e monitoramento dos riscos ambientais e implementação de programas de prevenção, entre eles, o Programa de Controle de Ruído e Conservação Auditiva, possibilitou verificar a influência da utilização do protetor auditivo na perda auditiva ao longo dos anos de trabalho em ambiente ruidoso. Observou-se que os trabalhadores que usavam o protetor auditivo regularmente apresentaram menos perda auditiva com um tempo maior de exposição (em anos) ao nível de pressão sonora elevada de modo contínuo, mesmo sendo levado em conta a superestimação da atenuação do equipamento de proteção individual, tanto em relação ao ambiente como ao tempo de uso. Também se observou que o limite de tolerância de 85 dB(A), valor utilizado como referência em não causar dano à saúde do trabalhador durante sua vida laboral, utilizado até 1994, não representa um nível confiável (seguro). Significando que, a partir desta data, o valor de 80 dB(A) como referência para o nível de ação de medidas preventivas adotado no Brasil, proporcionará resultado muito positivo em relação à prevenção da perda auditiva de seus trabalhadores. Ressalta-se como resultado mais expressivo do estudo a estabilidade dos limiares auditivos em ambas as orelhas de 81% da população, indicando que as medidas adotadas em relação ao meio ambiente e ao homem são de grande importância para a preservação da integridade física, psicológica e social dos trabalhadores

In geophysics there are several steps in the study of the Earth, one of them is the processing of seismic records. These records are obtained through observations made on the earth surface and are useful for information about the structure and composition of the inaccessible parts in great depths. Most of the tools and techniques developed for such studies has been applied in academic projects. The big problem is that the seismic processing power unwanted, recorded by receivers that do not bring any kind of information related to the reflectors can mask the information and/or generate erroneous information from the subsurface. This energy is known as unwanted seismic noise. To reduce the noise and improve a signal indicating a reflection, without losing desirable signals is sometimes a problem of difficult solution. The project aims to get rid of the ground roll noise, which shows a pattern characterized by low frequency, low rate of decay, low velocity and high amplituds. The Karhunen-Loève Transform is a great tool for identification of patterns based on the eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Together with the Karhunen-Loève Transform we will be using the Singular Value Decomposition, since it is a great mathematical technique for manipulating data

The multipath effect affects the differential and relative positioning, even that one involving short baselines. So it is necessary to detect this effect, check the caused error level, and mainly, its removal. This paper aims at analysing and comparing some useful components in the detection of this effect. These components are the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), the values of MP1 and MP2 obtained from the TEQC software that indicates the multipath level in the carriers L1 and L2, the multipath repeatability in consecutive days and the elevation angle and the azimuth of the satellites. For this purpose, an experiment is carried out, comparing such components in the presence and the absence of reflector objects that cause the multipath. Not only there is clear multipath repeatability in the residuals, but it also appears in the measures SNR, MP1 and MP2, reaching up 99% of correlation. For reduction, at least, of the high frequency multipath effect, the Multi-Resolution Analysis using wavelets is applied in the double differences (DD) measures. Some statistical tests were accomplished, which indicate results improvement, and mainly, larger reliability in the solution of the ambiguities, reaching up 49% of improvement concerning the Ratio test without applying the proposed method.
