Gd1.96-xYxEu0.04O3 (x=0.0, 0.49, 0.98, 1.47, 1.96 mol%) nanophosphors: Propellant combustion synthesis, structural and luminescence studies

Gd1.96-xYxEu0.04O3 (x = 0.0, 0.49, 0.98, 1.47, 1.96 mol%) nanophosphors were synthesized by propellant combustion method at low temperature (400 degrees C). The powder X-ray diffraction patterns of as formed Gd1.96Eu0.04O3 showed monoclinic phase, however with the addition of yttria it transforms from monoclinic to pure cubic phase. The porous nature increases with increase of yttria content. The particle size was estimated from Scherrer's and W-H plots which was found to be in the range 30-40 nm. These results were in well agreement with transmission electron microscopy studies. The optical band gap energies estimated were found to be in the range 5.32-5.49 eV. PL emission was recorded under 305 nm excitation show an intense emission peak at 611 nm along with other emission peaks at 582, 641 nm. These emission peaks were attributed to the transition of D-5(0) —> F-7(J) (J = 0, 1, 2, 3) of Eu3+ ions. It was observed that PL intensity increases with increase of Y content up to x = 0.98 and thereafter intensity decreases. CIE color co-ordinates indicates that at x = 1.47 an intense red bright color can be achieved, which could find a promising application in flat panel displays. The cubic and monoclinic phases show different thermoluminescence glow peak values measured under identical conditions. The response of the cubic phase to the applied dose showed good linearity, negligible fading, and simple glow curve structure than monoclinic phase indicating that suitability of this phosphor in dosimetric applications. Efecto de la edad de destete y del sistema de alimentación sobre el crecimiento en terneras de lechería

Se efectuó una prueba de alimentación usando el diseño de parcela dividida con un arreglo completamente al azar, con 36 terneras provenientes del cruce Holstein y Pardo Suizo, para comparar el efecto de dos edades de destete 4 y 8 semanas, y tres sistemas de alimentación en el crecimiento de terneras de lecheria. Los tratamientos fueron los siguientes: a) leche integra suministrada en forma gradual y el destete a las 4 semanas; b) leche integra suministrada en forma constante y el destete a las 4 semanas; c) sustituto de leche por 4 semanas; d, e y f, similares a los tratamientos anteriores en lo referente al alimento liquido pero con destete a las 8 semanas. El resto de la racion consistio en alimentos concentrados; iniciador, desarrollo y heno. Desde las 9 a las 20 semanas las terneras pasaron en grupos de seis a corrales comunes. El iniciador suministrado a las terneras de los tratamientos a y d se ofreció a razón de 144 gr. por litro de leche integra, previa disolución en agua, y el iniciador que consumieron las terneras de los tratamientos c y f se administro a razón de 0.90 kg hasta el destete. El concentrado de desarrollo se ofreció a los tratamientos a, b, d y a donde la 1 a las 20 semanas y en los tratamientos c y f después del destete hasta alcanzar un máximo de 2.7 kg. Todos los tratamientos tuvieron a disposición a partir del destete heno de estrella (Cynodon sp). La ganancia de peso vivo promedio total, de 66.48 kg obtenida por las terneras del tratamiento e, fue similar a las de 56.84, 50.74, 53.72 y 55.53 kg logradas por las terneras de los tratamientos b, c,d y f, pero significativamente diferente (P<0.05), a 43.42 kg alcanzada por las terneras del tratamiento a. El promedio de ganancias de peso vivo por día desde la 1 hasta las 20 semanas de edad fue 0.31, 0.41, 0.36, 0.38, 0.47 y 0.40 kg para los tratamientos a al f respectivamente. La mayor ganancia promedio en altura a la cruz 20.32 cm lograda por las terneras del tratamiento II fue similar a la de 17.97 cm obtenida por las terneras del tratamiento III, pero significativamente diferentes (P<0.01), con la de 15.94 cm alcanzada por las terneras del sistema I. El promedio de ganancia en perímetro toraxico fue 22.23, 27.30, 26.29, 26.29, 30.35 y 26.29 cm para los tratamientos a al f respectivamente. Estas ganancias no fueron significativas (P<0.05). Los costos totales de alimentación por ternera desde la 1 hasta las 20 semanas fueron 245.98, 315.74, 283.41, 318.41, 457.48 y 335.33 córdobas para los tratamientos a al f respectivamente. Los costos correspondientes por kg de aumento en peso vivo, fueron 5.67, 5.55, 5.59, 5.93, 6.88 y 6.04 respectivamente.

TiC原位增强块状Cu_(47)Ti_(34)Zr_(11)Ni_8非晶合金复合材料

在电弧炉中利用吸铸法制备了直径1-4 mm的原位生成TiC和β-Ti枝晶联合增强的块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料.DSC热分析结果表明,原位生成TiC颗粒的引入,没有影响基体合金的非晶形成能力.用OM,XRD,SEM,EDS等方法研究了复合材料的相组成、微观组织以及成分分布,结果表明,TiC颗粒作为异质形核中心促进了β-Ti枝晶的形成,形成了TiC颗粒和β-Ti枝晶联合增强的块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料,而且β-Ti枝晶的尺寸和数量与TiC颗粒的多少以及试样的尺寸有关.室温压缩试验表明,同单相非晶合金相比,块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料提高了抗压强度及塑性.

Avoided temperatures by young fish [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod No.50, 45-47, 1981]

Directed local changes of water temperature for the purpose of controlling the behaviour of fish are based on the knowledge of the characteristics of seasonal-age dynamics of their thermoadaptation possibilities. These possibilities are still inadequately studied especially in relation to avoided temperatures. By the authors the attempt was made to determine zones of avoided temperatures for the young of five species of fish (bream, roach, blue bream, perch, peled) in the summer period of the year, and also to assess the influence on them of additional factors, in particular mechanical driving. In parallel in two-fold repetition were conducted experiments on the determination of selected, shock and lethal temperatures of these fish. Experiments were conducted with fish, caught in the littoral of the Rybinsk reservoir.

Influence of starvation on selected temperatures in the young of bream, roach and perch [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod No.50, 45-47, 1981]

Works devoted to the influence of starvation on temperature selection by fishes are few and their conclusions are contradictory. This study determined the influence of brief, up to 14 days, starvation on temperature selection by young fishes. The experiments were carried out in August-September 1976 on fingerling bream (Abramis brama L.), roach (Rutilus rutilus L.) and perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) with body lengths of 3-5 cm and weight 0.5-1.2 g. The young fish were caught in the littoral by seine-nets or small drag-nets. Immediately after catching the fish they were put in acclimatization boxes. The period of acclimatization did not exceed 2 days for bream and roach at a temperature of 20 °C and 6 days for perch at 17 °C. Before the start of the experiment and for the first 10 days of the experiment the fish were fed with oligochaetes, earthworms and daphnia, after that feeding discontinued. At the end of a 10-14 day period the giving of food was resumed. The study concludes that the experiments have shown that in the summer season the factor of starvation significantly changes the reaction to the gradient of temperature in young cyprihids - roach and bream.
