Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services network in Northern Ireland - Update report 2008-2009

The third annual report from the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Healthy Promoting Hospitals (HPH) and Healthy Services network highlights a rich selection of the innovative developments and team-working achievements across services in Northern Ireland. The report provides a platform to showcase the five Health and Social Care Trusts and Cooperation and Working Together (CAWT)’s commitment to health and wellbeing to the population and shows how hospitals can have an impact on the determinants of health as they are explained in the context of people’s daily lives. The Public Health Agency continues to support the network both locally and nationally as this report gives hospitals and other health services a chance to be recognised as health enhancing organisations. The HPH and Healthy Services concept recognises that a hospital is much more than a place where people go for treatment and cure from sickness. It identifies the huge opportunities for the promotion of good health among the many thousands of people, patients and staff who have daily contact with hospitals and also with the wider community which the hospitals serve. In recent years much progress has been made in addressing health improvement in the hospital setting by looking at the broader cultural, social and environmental issues which can support health and wellbeing. The Northern Ireland HPH network continues to embrace change across services and to drive action to ensure that health improvement is embedded in the new health and social care systems.

Uma Análise da Cobertura dos Mídia Sobre Questões de Direitos Humanos em Cabo Verde (2008-2009) a Partir dos Jornais ‘a Semana’, ‘Expresso das Ilhas’ e ‘a Nação

Este artigo é uma primeira abordagem de análise da forma como os três jornais privados cabo-verdianos, ‘A Semana’, ‘Expresso das Ilhas’ e ‘A Nação’, têm tratado as questões dos direitos humanos em Cabo Verde, no biénio 2008-2009, com maior incidência na cobertura feita da actuação da polícia e da guerra dos gangues, identificando o contexto temporal em que as notícias referentes ao tema em estudo são mais frequentes, e buscando a partir delas identificar a linha editorial dos jornais. O biénio 2008-2009 destaca-se pela extinção do jornal público ‘Horizonte’ e o aparecimento de um novo jornal privado, o ‘A Nação’. É de salientar que na última década, os cabo-verdianos, sobretudo os praienses, depararam-se com índices de violência urbana tidos como elevados, em parte por culpa de uma nova figura social – os thugs1 . Como resposta a essa situação, o Governo de Cabo Verde, através do Ministério da Administração Interna, declarou tolerância zero ao crime em 2005, principalmente ao crime associado a agrupamentos juvenis, reestruturando a polícia, colocando polícias militares patrulhando as ruas em parceria com a polícia civil, enfim, transformando o fenómeno thug num problema social.

Principales corrientes marinas frente a la costa peruana durante el 2008-2009

El estudio comprende cuatro corrientes marinas. La Extensión Sur de la Corriente de Cromwell (ESCC) en otoño e invierno 2008 tuvo proyección hasta los 7°30’S; en primavera y verano se ubicó sobre su posición normal, al norte de 6°S; en otoño e invierno 2009 llegó hasta 9°S, y en primavera hasta los 7°S. La Contra Corriente Peruano Chilena (CCPC) presentó pocas diferencias de ubicación durante el 2008 y 2009, localizándose por fuera de las 40 mn y por debajo de los 50 m de profundidad; pero frente a Pisco y San Juan se aproximó hasta las 20 mn de la costa. La Corriente Costera Peruana (CCP), con escasas diferencias de ubicación, se desplazó de sur a norte sobre los 50 m de profundidad en áreas cercanas a la costa con velocidad de 20 cm/s en 2008, y de 28 cm/s en 2009. La Corriente Oceánica Peruana (COP), en todos los registros se halló por fuera de las 80 mn, se proyectó hasta Punta Falsa desviándose luego al oeste, con velocidad de hasta 37 cm/s en 2008.

This is the annual performance report for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part C, which was submitted on February 2, 2010 to the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. The report provides data on the State's Early ACCESS system and the 10 Regional Grantees' performance in 14 national indicators.

State Performance Plan IDEA Part C FFY 2008-2009

In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004, Iowa must have in place a Part C State Performance Plan that evaluates Iowa's efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of Part C and describes how Iowa will improve such implementation. This plan is in effect for six years and Iowa will report annually to the U.S. Department of Education on the performance of the State under this plan.

Les biblioteques escolars a Catalunya. 2008-2009

L'article presenta l'evolució de les biblioteques escolars en el bienni 2008-2009 i s'hi esmenten les principals iniciatives que, des de diversos àmbits, s'han dut a terme per a promoure-les. També s'hi fa un repàs de les diverses publicacions que tracten les biblioteques escolars. En un altre apartat es descriu la intensa activitat que associacions i grups de treball desenvolupen entorn les biblioteques escolars i com aquestes s'han fet presents a Internet. Finalment, s'identifiquen les recerques que s'han dut a terme en l'àmbit de les biblioteques escolars, i es detallen les iniciatives de formació oficial i no oficial. També es posa de manifest la quantitat i varietat d'accions de transferència, com ara els congressos i jornades que s'han celebrat per la geografia catalana en el període estudiat.

La promoció de la lectura a Catalunya (2008-2009)

D'un temps ençà, la preocupació pels baixos índexs lectors de la població juntament amb els lamentables resultats de les proves PISA de comprensió lectora entre els escolars, han portat les administracions i organismes que en depenen, com biblioteques i escoles, a augmentar els esforços en el camp de la promoció lectora. La revisió d'aquest àmbit s'articula en tres blocs: en el primer, es fa balanç de les accions més significatives dutes a terme els anys 2008 i 2009 des del govern autonòmic i dels governs municipals, les activitats de promoció lectura que s'han dut a terme a les biblioteques públiques i les iniciatives dutes a terme des de les biblioteques escolars arran de la posta en marxa del Puntedu i de l'elaboració de plans de lectura de centre. En un segon bloc, es recullen les iniciatives a l'entorn de la recerca i la formació, molt menors en quantitat. I en el tercer bloc, s'inclou una bibliografia seleccionada de tot tipus de documents¿llibres, articles de revistes, actes de congressos i llocs web¿ sobre la promoció de la lectura publicats durant els anys 2008 i 2009, de la qual se'n comenten alguns títols.
