Distribution of quaternary siliceous sponge spicules in sediments of ODP Leg 180 sites

Siliceous sponge spicules were found in Quaternary sediments recovered during drilling of Leg 180. The assemblage consists mainly of monaxon forms. Relative abundances of the various types are tabulated.

(Table T2) Rock magnetic parameters of ODP Leg 180 sites

Rock magnetic measurements were performed on sediments above 20 meters below seafloor (mbsf) (general) and above 2.5 mbsf (detailed) at Sites 1109, 1110, and 1115 (Ocean Drilling Program Leg 180) in the western Woodlark Basin. Rock magnetic parameters imply the presence of magnetite as a principal magnetic mineral in the sediments. The hysteresis ratios lay in the pseudo-single domain field and generally showed the trend close to that for the mixture of single domain and multidomain magnetite The sediments in the oxidized zones at the top at Sites 1109 and 1115 provided a different trend in the logarithmic plot of the hysteresis ratios, and the oxidized samples were characterized by higher coercivity.

(Table T3) Distribution of radiolarian taxa in sediments of ODP Leg 180 sites

Cores from the 11 sites drilled during Leg 180 showed radiolarian assemblages that appear only in the Quaternary sediments. The most diverse and well-preserved assemblages were found in hemipelagic sediments from Holes 1108A, 1110A, and 1115B.

Analysing the Prospects of a Successful Application Under s 180 of the Property Law Act 1974 (Qld)

Section 180 of the Property Law Act 1974 (Qld) makes provision for an applicant to seek a statutory right of user over a neighbour’s property where such right of use is reasonably necessary in the interests of effective use in any reasonable manner of the dominant land. In recent years, the Queensland courts have been confronted with a number of such applications. Litigation has also been common in New South Wales which has a statutory provision in largely similar terms. This article seeks to identify those factors that have underpinned successful applications, the obstacles that an applicant may encounter and the considerations that have guided the courts when considering the associated issues of compensation and costs.

VFT performance of a 180/110 mm co-axial gap in SF6 up to 4 bar absolute

Disconnector switch operation in GIS generates VFT voltages in the system. It is important, for insulation co-ordination purposes, to obtain accurate VFT V-t data for typical gap geometries found in GIS. This paper presents experimentally obtained VFT V-t data for a 180/1 lOmm co-axial gap. The VFT has a time to first peak of 35 ns and a oscillation frequency of 13,6 MHz. Due to the location of the voltage divider in a compartment adjacent to the gap, a correction factor of 1.1 is used to relate the measured breakdown voltage to that in the gap. Positive polarity VFT V-t data is presented for 1, 2, 3 and 4 bar absolute and negative polarity VFT data for 3 and 4 bar absolute. Two methods of generating the VFT's are used. The first is to power up the test transformer at power frequency. The second is to generate a switching impulse by discharging a capacitor into the primary of the test transformer.

Geometries of the antiproton-nucleus optical potentials at 180 MeV

The moments of the real and the absorptive parts of the antiproton optical potentials are evaluated for the first time to study the geometries of the potentials at 180 MeV. Interesting features are revealed which are found to be comparable to the proton case in general despite the presence of strong annihilation. A few interesting deviations, however, are also found compared to the proton case.
