(Table 5) Quaternary paleoproductivity of organic carbon in oceans based on DSDP cores

By analogy with the present-day ocean, primary productivity of paleoceans can be reconstructed using calculations based on content of organic carbon in sediments and their accumulation rates. Results of calculations based on published data show that primary productivity of organic carbon, mass of phosphorus involved in the process, and content of phosphorus in ocean waters were relatively stable during Cenozoic and Late Mesozoic. Prior to precipitation on the seafloor together with biogenic detritus, dissolved phosphorus could repeatedly be involved in the biogeochemical cycle. Therefore, only less than 0.1% of phosphorus is retained in bottom sediments. Bulk phosphorus accumulation rate in ocean sediments is partly consistent with calculated primary productivity. Some epochs of phosphate accumulation also coincide with maxima of primary productivity and minima of the fossilization coefficient of organic carbon. The latter fact can testify to episodes of acceleration of organic matter mineralization and release of phosphorus from sediments leading to increase in the phosphorus reserve in paleoceans and phosphate accumulation in some places.

Constantino y sus sucesores, Constancio II, Constante y Juliano, expresaron su particular interés por supervisar la aplicación de determinadas leyes imperiales mediante el uso de la fórmula ad nostram scientiam referatur y de otras similares. Constantino fue el príncipe que la empleó con más frecuencia, especialmente durante el período de 313-324, exceptuando el intervalo de 315-316, cuando la confrontación con Licinio le obligó a renunciar a atender directamente las cuestiones administrativas. La progresiva disminución de la inclusión de estas cláusulas en los textos legales imperiales a partir de la unificación del Imperio en 324 se debe poner en relación con la aparición de los curiosi y luego de los agentes in rebus, como oficiales encargados de vigilar la observancia de las normas vigentes.

POTENCIAL DE CRECIEMIENTO DE LA REGION PACIFICO SUR

Se exponen algunos antecedentes y diagnósticos a escala regional. Se precisan desigualdades regionales, a partir de la identificación de una competencia urbano-regional, contrastes socio-económicos profundos entre San Isidro del General y, por ejemplo, Buenos Aires. También se revisan los esfuerzos de planificación efectuados y tipos de proyectos sectoriales y específicos propuestos a escala urbano-regional.   SUMMARY Some antecedent and diagnostic studies are explained at a regional level. Regional inequalities are determined, beginning with the identification of urban-regional struggles.   Profound social-economic contrasts between San Isidro de El General and Buenos Aires, for example, are also identified. Planning efforts that have been carried out in the past and the types of sectorial and the specific projects proposed at an urban-regional level are also revised.   RESUME   On décrit quelques antécédents et diagnostiques à l’échelle régionale. On remarque les inégalités régionales, parmi l’indentification d’une concurrence urbain-régionale, différentiation socio-économique profonde entre San Isidro de El General et Buenos Aires. Aussi, on étudie les efforts de planification qu’ont été faites, tel comme les types de projets sectoriels et spécifiques dessinés á l’échelle urbaine-régionale.  

New Clinical Indications for (18)F/(11)C-choline, New Tracers for Positron Emission Tomography and a Promising Hybrid Device for Prostate Cancer Staging: A Systematic Review of the Literature

CONTEXT Radiolabelled choline positron emission tomography has changed the management of prostate cancer patients. However, new emerging radiopharmaceutical agents, like radiolabelled prostate specific membrane antigen, and new promising hybrid imaging will begin new challenges in the diagnostic field. OBJECTIVE The continuous evolution in nuclear medicine has led to the improvement in the detection of recurrent prostate cancer (PCa), particularly distant metastases. New horizons have been opened for radiolabelled choline positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) as a guide for salvage therapy or for the assessment of systemic therapies. In addition, new tracers and imaging tools have been recently tested, providing important information for the management of PCa patients. Herein we discuss: (1) the available evidence in literature on radiolabelled choline PET and their recent indications, (2) the role of alternative radiopharmaceutical agents, and (3) the advantages of a recent hybrid imaging device (PET/magnetic resonance imaging) in PCa. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Data from recently published (2010-2015), original articles concerning the role of choline PET/CT, new emerging radiotracers, and a new imaging device are analysed. This review is reported according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS In the restaging phase, the detection rate of choline PET varies between 4% and 97%, mainly depending on the site of recurrence and prostate-specific antigen levels. Both 68gallium (68Ga)-prostate specific membrane antigen and 18F-fluciclovine are shown to be more accurate in the detection of recurrent disease as compared with radiolabelled choline PET/CT. Particularly, Ga68-PSMA has a detection rate of 50% and 68%, respectively for prostate-specific antigen levels < 0.5ng/ml and 0.5-2ng/ml. Moreover, 68Ga- PSMA PET/magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a particularly higher accuracy in detecting PCa than PET/CT. New tracers, such as radiolabelled bombesin or urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor, are promising, but few data in clinical practice are available today. CONCLUSIONS Some limitations emerge from the published papers, both for radiolabelled choline PET/CT and also for new radiopharmaceutical agents. Efforts are still needed to enhance the impact of published data in the world of oncology, in particular when new radiopharmaceuticals are introduced into the clinical arena. PATIENT SUMMARY In the present review, the authors summarise the last evidences in clinical practice for the assessment of prostate cancer, by using nuclear medicine modalities, like positron emission tomography/computed tomography and positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging.
