This paper demonstrates how a finite element model which exploits domain decomposition is applied to the analysis of three-phase induction motors. It is shown that a significant gain in cpu time results when compared with standard finite element analysis. Aspects of the application of the method which are particular to induction motors are considered: the means of improving the convergence of the nonlinear finite element equations; the choice of symmetrical sub-domains; the modelling of relative movement; and the inclusion of periodic boundary conditions. © 1999 IEEE.

Mahseer, Tor putitora with 12.75, 12.11, and 12.02g of initial weight were fou · J to attain a net weight gain of 12.0 kg, ll.5 kg, and 11.4 kg respectively in pond-1 (commercial feed), pond-2 (farm-made feed), and pond-3 (farm-made feed), respectively against 78.2 kg, 70.3 kg, and 68.1 kg feed fed. Gross energy contents in fish were 1359.3 Kcal/kg, 1281.5 Kcal/kg and 1266.6 Kcal/kg, respectively in pond-1, pond-2, and pond-3 against 3630.4, 3876.9 and 3570.5 Kcal/kg energy in the feed fed. Only 9.4%, 10.5% and 13.7% of the protein, and 8.9%, 3.4% and 3.3% of the lipid fed to fish were converted into muscle respectively in pond-1, pond-2 and pond-3. It was observed that the higher the protein content in feed, the lower the rate of conversion in muscle; the same was also true for lipid. It is supposed that feed derived wastes contribute potentially to water quality deterioration and eutrophication. Lower feed conversion, higher nitrogenous and phosphatic concentrations and higher plankton biomass in the ponds are all supportive to this observation.

Lancifodilactone F (1), possessing an unprecedented rearranged pentanortriterpenoid backbone derived from cycloartane, was isolated from the leaves and stems of Schisandra lancifolia (Rehd. et Wils) A. C. Smith. Its structure was established by comprehensive NMR and MS spectroscopic analysis, coupled with single-crystal X-ray experiment. Compound 1 exerted minimal cytotoxicity against C8166 cells (CC50 > 200 mu g/mL) and showed anti-HIV activity with EC50 = 20.69 +/- 3.31 mu g/mL and a selectivity index > 6.62.

 利用3′2 RACE 和5′2 RACE 技术, 从腐生型眼虫长变胞藻( Astasia longa) 克隆了磷酸丙糖异构酶 ( TIM) 的两个同工酶cDNA 全序列。分析表明: 它们分别编码定位于细胞质的胞质型TIM (cTIM) 和定位于质 体的质体型TIM (p TIM) ; 后者的N 端具有引导该酶定位到质体中去的典型“前导序列”。根据这些事实我们推 测腐生型眼虫A . longa 质体中可能存在功能性的TIM , 并进一步认为该质体可能不只是一般意义上的“叶绿体 退化的残迹”, 而仍是一种至少有TIM 参与其代谢活动的功能性细胞器[动物学报50 (3) : 414 - 419 , 2004 ] 。

内变形虫类不仅因其寄生致病性而长期备受关注, 它们的进化地位也是一个十分令人注目的问 题. 由于曾认为其不具线粒体等细胞器, 有人将其与其他的“不具线粒体”的原生动物统称为archezoa, 认为它们是在线粒体产生之前即已分化的极原始真核生物, 处在原核生物向真核生物的过渡阶段. 然 而, 近年来的研究表明, 内变形虫类是具有线粒体等细胞器的, 其线粒体可能特化成了后来才发现的 crypton 或mitosome. 近来的分子系统研究也表明, 它们应该是具有(或曾经具有)线粒体的. 我们的 DNA 拓扑异构酶Ⅱ分子系统分析明显显示它们的分化应该是在很多具线粒体的生物分化之后. 本文就 这些研究情况进行了较全面的概述,并对其进化地位进行了进一步分析探讨.

In this letter, we report E off-versus-V ce tradeoff curves for vertical superjunction insulated-gate bipolar transistors (SJ IGBTs), exhibiting unusual inverse slopes dE off/dV ce > 0 in a transition region between purely unipolar and strongly bipolar device behaviors. This effect is due to the action of p-pillar hole current when depleting the drift layer of SJ IGBTs during turnoff and the impact of current gain on the transconductance. Such SJ IGBTs surpass by a very significant margin their superjunction MOSFET counterparts in terms of power-handling capability and on-state and turnoff losses, all at the same time. © 2012 IEEE.

Gas vesicles provide buoyancy to Microcystis and other common cyanobacterial bloom-forming species. gvpA and gvpC are structural genes encoding gas vesicle proteins. Phylogenetic analyses of 10 Microcystis strains/uncultured samples showed that gvpC and each intergenic segment of the gvpA-gvpC region can be divided into two types. The combination of different types of gvpC and intergenic segments is an important factor that diversifies this genomic region. Some Microcystis strains isolated in China possess a 172 to 176 bp sequence tag in the intergenic segment between gvpA and gvpC. The gvpA-gvpC region in Microcystis can be divided into at least 4 classes and more numbers of subclasses. Compared to rbcLX and other regions, the high variability of the gvpA-gvpC region should be more useful in identifying geographical isolates or ecotypes of Microcystis.

Two sensitive polarized spectroscopies, reflectance difference spectroscopy and photocurrent difference spectroscopy, are used to study the characteristic of the in-plane optical anisotropy in the symmetric and the asymmetric (001) GaAs/Al(Ga)As superlattices (SLs). The anisotropy spectra of the symmetric and the asymmetric SLs show significant difference: for symmetric ones, the anisotropies of the 1HH-->1E transition (1H1E) and 1L1E are dominant, and they are always approximately equal and opposite; while for asymmetric ones, the anisotropy of 1H1E is much less than that of 1L1E and 2H1E, and the anisotropy of 3H2E is very strong. The calculated anisotropy spectra within the envelope function model agree with the experimental results, and a perturbation approach is used to understand the role of the electric field and the interface potential in the anisotropy. In speaker-independent speech recognition, the disadvantage of the most diffused technology ( Hidden Markov Models) is not only the need of many more training samples, but also long train time requirement. This paper describes the use of Biomimetic Pattern Recognition (BPR) in recognizing some Mandarin Speech in a speaker-independent manner. The vocabulary of the system consists of 15 Chinese dish's names. Neural networks based on Multi-Weight Neuron (MWN) model are used to train and recognize the speech sounds. Experimental results are presented to show that the system, which can carry out real time recognition of the persons from different provinces speaking common Chinese speech, outperforms HMMs especially in the cases of samples of a finite size.
