Many countries are also engaged in trade negotiations on FTAs. RO are a central theme on each of theses fronts. A detailed analysis of the key questions surrounding the harmonization process is compelling, given that RO talks at the WTO will affect the negotiation of FTAs. Many developing countries are waiting the results from WTO to define their own RO. Since the impasse continues, they are creating their own systems and multiplying different ROs to satisfy their needs. This article seeks to provide some clues why it was impossible, till now, to finish this multilateral negotiation. It is organized as follows: i) review of the main issues in the ARO; ii) present the main points of contention in the harmonization work; iii) analyze the implications of a harmonized system of rules of origin to the other major WTO agreements as well as to other national trade policy instruments; and to present some possible scenarios how to conclude the negotiation
The distortion of currencies misalignments on trade Instruments: or why currencies wars are not over

The negotiations of mega agreements between the US and the Pacific countries (TPP) and between the US and the EU (TTIP) are raising the attention of experts on international trade law and economics. TPP and TTIP are proclaimed to be the designers of the rules for the XXI Century. Old trade instruments such as tariffs are said to be no more important for TTIP because tariffs are negligible among those partners but significant to for TPP. Another relevant agreement in negotiation is between the EU and Mercosul, where tariffs are the most important issue in discussion. The main purpose of this paper is to shows that tariff are important for all these agreements, not because of its nominal value, but because the impacts of exchange rate misalignments on tariffs are so significant that all concessions can be distorted by overvalued and by devaluated currencies. The article is divided into several sections: the first gives an introduction to the issue; the second explains the methodologies used to determine exchange rate misalignments and also presents some results for Brazil, US and China; the third summarizes the methodology applied to calculate the impacts of exchange rate misalignments on the level of tariff protection through an exercise of misalignment tariffication and examines the effects of exchange rate variations on tariffs and their consequences for the multilateral trading system; the fourth creates a methodology to estimate exchange rates against a basket of currencies (a virtual currency of the World) and a proposal to deal with persistent and significant misalignments related to trade rules. The fifth presents some estimates for the main PTAs. The conclusions are present in the last section

The present work analyzes the establishment of a startups operations and the structuring all of the processes required to start up the business, launch the platform and keep it working. The thesis main focus can therefore be described as designing and structuring a startups operations in an emerging market before and during its global launch. Such business project aims to provide a successful case regarding the creation of a business and its launch into an emerging market, by illustrating a practical example on how to structure the business operations within a limited time frame. Moreover, this work will also perform a complete economic analysis of Brazil, thorough analyses of the industries the company is related to, as well as a competitive analysis of the market the venture operates in. Furthermore, an assessment of the ventures business model and of its first six-month performance will also be included. The thesis ultimate goal lies in evaluating the companys potential of success in the next few years, by highlighting its strengths and criticalities. On top of providing the companys management with brilliant findings and forecasts about its own business, the present work will represent a reference and a practical roadmap for any entrepreneur willing to establish his operations in Brazil.

L'objectif de cet article est de montrer l'existence de traces historiques permettant de lier les concepts de libre-change et protectionnisme, tous les deux employs dans la politique de commerce extrieur des Etats-Unis. Paralllement, on cherche souligner l'importance de la lgislation et des principes formuls dans ce pays et leur rle explicatif concernant les motivations de la structure du commerce international aprs 1945. Ce rle a en effet contribu qu'on puisse mieux comprendre les tournes de ngociations du GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) jusqu' la cration de l'OMC (Organisation Mondiale du Commerce), en 1995. on traite galement des raisons pour lesquelles le commerce international aux Etats-Unis est non seulement une question d'Etat mais encore une question de la socit.
