Book review: "Kozak, M., & Kozak, N. (Eds). 2008. Destination Marketing: An International Perspective. Wallingford, Oxon: Routledge"

This edited volume contains 18 chapters by 40 contributors from many parts the world, and is divided into four thematic sections. The focus of Part 1 is Destination image, and contains five chapters. This has arguably been the most popular topic in the destination marketing literature, underpinned by the knowledge that the image an individual holds of a destination is as important as any tangible features. Yin Chew and Siti Johari attempt to model the relationship between destination image and country image using structural equation modelling. While this does address an important gap in the literature, the measures used to operationalise the constructs are not reported and little of the data analysis is discussed to support the finding that country image is a predictor of destination image. Ana Rodriquez, Antonia Correia and Metin Kozak report the findings of an exploratory study about lakedestination image. They used a neural network content analysis of 40 lake descriptions featuring on an online directory for lake enthusiasts to derive a set of cognitive attribute themes. Yang Zhang and Yi-Wei Xiao explore the relations between literary works and tourism through the Asian voice. Book Review: "Engin Isin and Evelyn Ruppert, Being Digital Citizens. London: Rowman & Littlefield, 2015"

The concept of digital citizenship has become increasingly important to our understanding of the relationship between media and political action, and the possibilities for democratization, decentralization, and diversification of power offered by the Internet. In the era of the digitalization of just about everything, citizenship and its related concepts are in processes of technology-driven transformation, with important implications for the global future of democratic culture. Isin and Ruppert’s book is a timely engagement with these questions, and with the emerging notion of the “digital subject.”

Asymtotic solution of the Frieman and Book equation for the pair-correlation function

Using Thomé's procedure, the asymptotic solutions of the Frieman and Book equation for the two-particle correlation in a plasma have been obtained in a complete form. The solution is interpreted in terms of the Lorentz distance. The exact expressions for the internal energy and pressure are evaluated and they are found to be a generalization of the result obtained earlier by others.

The Amenability Studies on Beneficiation of Low Grade Phyllite Deposits of Tungsten From Degana, Rajasthan

The phyllite deposit of Degana, Rajasthan, containing tungsten values in the form of wolframite, (Fe, MnWO sub 4 ) finely dispersed in the quartz groundmass, has been quantitatively analysed to give 0.063% WO sub 3 , 6.66% Fe sub 2 O sub 3 , 14.30% Al sub 2 O sub 3 and 67.4% SiO sub 2 . The major gangue minerals identified are quartz, iron oxides and mica along with minor amounts of graphite, fluorite and sulphides. The amenability of the ore to gravity concentration, magnetic separation and a combination of the processes has been studied. A combination of tabling on --100 mesh ground ore and dry magnetic separation of the tabled concentrate gave a final concentrate containing 1.834% WO sub 3 with an overall recovery of only 4.6%. The complex mineralogy combined with fine dispersion of very low W values have contributed to the low recoveries and grades. Graph, photomicrographs. 10 ref.--AA

Metamorphic-metasomatic fluids and Al, Si order/disorder of K-rich alkali feldspars from southern Indian high grade terrain

The structural state of K-feldspars in the quartzofeldspathic gneisses, charnockites, metapelites and pegmatites from the southern Kamataka, northern Tamil Nadu and southern Kerala high-grade regions of southern India has been characterized using petrographic and powder X-ray diffraction methods. The observed distribution pattern of structural state with a preponderance of disordered K-feldspar polymorphs in granulites compared to the ordered microclines in the amphibolite facies rocks is interpreted to reflect principally the varying H2O contents in the metamorphic-metasomatic fluids across metamorphic grade. The K-feldspars in the pegmatites of granitic derivation and in a pegmatite of inferred metamorphic origin also point to the important role of aqueous fluids in their structural state.

Discrimination of Nuclear Grade Steel Samples Subjected to Different Heat Treatment Procedures Based on Acoustic Emission (AE) Data Profiling at Crack Initiation

The present work is an attempt to study crack initiation in nuclear grade, 9Cr-1Mo ferritic steel using AE as an online NDE tool. Laboratory experiments were conducted on 5 heat treated Compact Tension (CT) specimens made out of nuclear grade 9Cr-1Mo ferritic steel by subjecting them to cyclic tensile load. The CT Specimens were of 12.5 mm thickness. The Acoustic emission test system was setup to acquire the data continuously during the test by mounting AE sensor on one of the surfaces of the specimen. This was done to characterize AE data pertaining to crack initiation and then discriminate the samples in terms of their heat treatment processes based on AE data. The AE signatures at crack initiation could conclusively bring to fore the heat treatment distinction on a sample to sample basis in a qualitative sense.Thus, the results obtained through these investigations establish a step forward in utilizing AE technique as an on-line measurement tool for accurate detection and understanding of crack initiation and its profile in 9Cr-1Mo nuclear grade steel subjected to different processes of heat treatment.

Investigation on the High Vacuum Tribological Characteristics of Surface Treated Nuclear Grade Stainless Steel Type AISI 316 LN at 25 to 500 degrees C

Although some researchers have published friction and wear data of Plasma Nitride (PN) coatings, the tribological behavior of PN/PN Pairs in high vacuum environment has not been published so far In order to bridge this knowledge gap, tribological tests under dry conditions have been conducted on PN/PN Pairs for varying temperatures of 25, 200, 400 and 500 degrees C in high vacuum (1.6 x 10(-4) bar) environment. The PN coatings showed good wear resistance layer on the ring surface. The PN coatings were removed only from the pin surface for all the tests since it contacts at a point. The friction and wear were low at lower temperatures and it eliminated adhesion between the contact surfaces until the coating was completely removed from the pin surface.
