Romance e filosofia

Análise dos modos de relacionamento históricos entre o romance e a filosofia e das conseqüências positivas e negativas desse fato. O ensaio sustenta que hoje, à época da indústria cultural e, portanto, do predomínio da literatura de entretenimento, essa relação tem se tomado prejudicial tanto para a filosofia como para o romance, favorecendo o aparecimento de romances destinados a nos fornecer a ascese mística ou intelectual. Nesse período, a relação positiva entre essas duas atividades migrou para a crítica literária de extração filosófica, a única capaz hoje de questionar a natureza social do romance.Palavras-chave: Romance e filosofia; crítica literária; romance e indústria cultural; crítica filosófico-literária.

A presença da literatura/cultura portuguesas em periódicos paulistas - 1900-1922

Partindo-se do pressuposto de que existe uma interligação, por meio da presença da literatura/cultura portuguesa, entre Portugal e a cidade de São Paulo – no período de 1900-1922, caracterizado ainda como pré-modernista brasileiro –, a proposta deste texto dirige-se ao comentário de alguns periódicos (O Estado de S. Paulo; A Vida Moderna; O Pirralho), visto que “[...] há uma história da literatura que se projeta na cidade de S. Paulo; e há uma história da cidade de S. Paulo que se projeta na literatura.” (CANDIDO, 1975). Assim, pretende-se verificar como a presença da literatura/cultura portuguesa (principalmente autores canônicos do século XIX) repercutiu na vida social e intelectual da cidade de São Paulo, para melhor compreensão das formas de sociabilidade, bem como a caracterização das diferentes etapas percorridas pela literatura brasileira em São Paulo.

Revisitando a literatura sobre o empresariado industrial brasileiro: dilemas e controvérsias

Over the past five decades several different interpretative traditions have taken on the task of trying to explain the origin of industrialists in Brazil and to analyze their behavior pattern from a business perspective, as well as in response to the country's biggest political issues. Although this is a stimulating subject, considering the important role to be played by these social actors in weaving the fabric of capitalist modernization in 20th century Brazil, not much of substance has been written about it, in contrast with, for instance, research about the working class. This paper makes a brief assessment of what we believe to be one of the most significant among the possible variables for interpreting the experience of the industrialist class, which demands the complexity inherent to the topic as a counterpoint to the simplified generalization which is recurrent in most writings about this subject.

Os textos aqui reunidos se oferecem como possíveis leituras da problemática do Outro na literatura, pertencente a diversas esferas e recortado conforme a perspectiva crítica adotada em seu enfoque pelos autores. O propósito maior desta coletânea, portanto, é fornecer ao leitor reflexões e questionamentos sobre os aspectos implicados na relação eu x outro presentes nas manifestações literárias tomadas como objeto de análise. Desse modo, os gestos de escrita e leitura serão dimensões em relevo ao longo deste livro, complementando-se e coproduzindo-se no percurso crítico que vai do eu(s) ao outro(s)

Conflitos e conciliações: a relação da personagem Blanche DuBois, de Streetcar Named Desire, com a sociedade americana moderna

This paper presents a reflection on the relationship of the character Blanche DuBois, the protagonist of Tennessee Williams’s play A Streetcar Named Desire, with the society in which she is inserted. There is also a brief analysis of the construction of this character. To do this, the historical context of both the play and the author were studied, as well as his biography, which has great relevance in his work, and also a concise analysis of the elements presented in the literary work itself. In order to have an overview of Blanche, a few lines of this character were collected, as well as the lines of other characters that refer to her and some opposing viewpoints. The aim of this paper is to confront the character’s psychological and social conflicts, setting them in the context of modern American society

Falling Man: A Literatura em busca de possíveis significados para um espaço vazio

September 11 has originated a wide range of artistic manifestations which have not only searched for plausible explanations for the tragedy, but also tried to review the events. In this sense, this paper aims at showing how a novel reevaluates this episode. The attacks made the United States experience a strong sense of vulnerability, triggering reactions from the American government, whose quick action was translated into a new national security strategy, associated with the war on terror. This paper analyzes the narrative strategies employed by the American author Don DeLillo in his novel Falling Man (2007) in order to reevaluate that tragedy. The debate of the topics is based on texts concerning the relationship between literature and history, postmodern fiction and issues on terrorism. This study contributes to enrich the discussion related to the events that led to the catastrophe and its aftermath, examining characters and groups linked to the September 11 terrorist attacks, revealing multiple truths subjected to social, ideological and historical conditions.

O modelo atômico de Bohr e as abordagens para seu ensino na escola média

The teaching of modern and contemporary Physics subjects in high school is indispensable and it was already justified by several researchers. Among the subjects which must be taught, there is, for instance, Bohr atomics model. However, as it was noticed in literature review, many didactic materials do not deal with this model adequately, since that they do not take into account Bohr ideas, which involved Planck studies on black-body radiation, Einsten theory for photoelectric effect, Rutherford experiences and atomics model and the empiric results upon the spectrums of chemical elements emission. From that, it is extremely important teaching through approaches which potentialize the learning of the model proposed by Niels Bohr. On the other hand, teachers from high schools cannot have clearness about which approaches can be applied for teaching the mentioned model. Thus, it is presented some possibilities for teaching Bohr atomics model, with examples and justifications for the use of each one. Special treatment was attributed to the teaching from Science History and Philosophy, from the reading of scientific diffusion and original scientific texts, from analogies, from comic strips and from computer simulations.
