Given the existing challenges in accessing print-based publications in developing countries, digital libraries are seen as a good alternative. Thus, it is important to understand how such libraries are used in these contexts, especially when compared with the usage of traditional libraries. This paper analyzes and compares the usage of the digital and traditional libraries of the University Jean Piaget of Cape Verde, aiming at understanding the way they are used, and the relation between the access to the existing information resources in these two libraries.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight scientific information resources that list journal and country rankings. These databases usually focus on the use of citation counts and number of publications to evaluate the interest, visibility and impact of research performance. The exposed resources are platforms that provide added value to authors improving their knowledge about research trends and also where to submit their papers.

On behalf of the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission (ITTC) overseeing the Iowa Communications Network, I am pleased to submit the Fiscal Year 2009 Annual Report. Throughout the report you will find stories and examples that demonstrate the many ways in which ICN video, voice, Internet, and data services have touched the lives of Iowans across our state. The ITTC strongly supports the IJOBS initiative and has enthusiastically accepted its responsibilities as stated in SF376 bill passed during the 2009 legislative session. Through the collaboration of the Iowa Utilities Board, Iowa Department of Economic Development and ITTC, a talented governing board is bringing together the interests of many public and private stakeholders to strengthen our telecommunications infrastructure and make broadband access a reality for every Iowan.

Es descriu el Projecte del Sistema de Gestió Documental de la Universitat de Barcelona (PSGD UB) destacant-ne la funció de creació, gestió, preservació i difusió del capital intel·lectual de la institució, alhora que s¿introdueixen els conceptes de recurs tangible, tot referint-se al patrimoni documental, i de patrimoni intangible per definir el conjuntdels recursos i activitats associats al coneixement. Per dur a terme aquest projecte es marquen tres grans línies estratègiques: la implantació del Sistema de Gestió Documental, la valorització del patrimoni documental i el foment de les aliances i de les relacions institucionals.

El artículo ofrece una panorámica general de la auditoría de la información como metodología de gestión para obtener un diagnóstico global del uso de la información e identificar cuál resulta crítica a una organización, de acuerdo con sus componentes estratégicos, las funciones y roles que desarrollan sus individuos, así como los conocimientos y competencias asociadas a éstos. Se sitúa la auditoría en el marco de las prácticas de control interno de las organizaciones, se define y establece su alcance, se indican contextos de práctica y enumeran sus componentes, sus fases, métodos y técnicas, así como las ventajas en el corto y largo plazo de su aplicación. Se destaca la importancia de incorporar la práctica de la auditoría de la información como un estándar en la gestión estratégica de los activos y funciones informacionales y de los servicios de información de cualquier tipo de organización.

El pasado mes de octubre tuvo lugar en Bruselas el segundo DLM-Forum on electronic records, que bajo el título ¿European citizens and electronic information: the memory of the information society¿ reunió a más de 400 expertos internacionales en la gestión de los documentos informáticos con valores administrativos e históricos. Durante los días 18 y 19 el centro de conferencias Charlemagne de Bruselas acogió las sesiones plenarias y las distintas comunicaciones presentadas en las reuniones paralelas.
