The Thesis consist of the study of the electrical properties of antimony trisulphide films and the electrical behaviour of different metal contacts to antimony trisulphide films. Since the thermal evapouration of the compound antimony trisulphide as such mayresult in nonstoichiometric compound films , sb2s3 films in the present work were mostly prepared by the three temperature method ,keeping the substrate at different temperature ranging from 3031 to 4231 and evapourating antimony and sulphur simultaneously from separate sources.

Estimating the sizes of hard-to-count populations is a challenging and important problem that occurs frequently in social science, public health, and public policy. This problem is particularly pressing in HIV/AIDS research because estimates of the sizes of the most at-risk populations-illicit drug users, men who have sex with men, and sex workers-are needed for designing, evaluating, and funding programs to curb the spread of the disease. A promising new approach in this area is the network scale-up method, which uses information about the personal networks of respondents to make population size estimates. However, if the target population has low social visibility, as is likely to be the case in HIV/AIDS research, scale-up estimates will be too low. In this paper we develop a game-like activity that we call the game of contacts in order to estimate the social visibility of groups, and report results from a study of heavy drug users in Curitiba, Brazil (n = 294). The game produced estimates of social visibility that were consistent with qualitative expectations but of surprising magnitude. Further, a number of checks suggest that the data are high-quality. While motivated by the specific problem of population size estimation, our method could be used by researchers more broadly and adds to long-standing efforts to combine the richness of social network analysis with the power and scale of sample surveys. Mebendazole (MBZ) is a common benzimidazole anthelmintic that exists in three different polymorphic forms, A, B, and C. Polymorph C is the pharmaceutically preferred form due to its adequated aqueous solubility. No single crystal structure determinations depicting the nature of the crystal packing and molecular conformation and geometry have been performed on this compound. The crystal structure of mebendazole form C is resolved for the first time. Mebendazole form C crystallizes in the triclinic centrosymmetric space group and this drug is practically planar, since the least-squares methyl benzimidazolylcarbamate plane is much fitted on the forming atoms. However, the benzoyl group is twisted by 31(1)degrees from the benzimidazole ring, likewise the torsional angle between the benzene and carbonyl moieties is 27(1)degrees. The formerly described bends and other interesting intramolecular geometry features were viewed as consequence of the intermolecular contacts occurring within mebendazole C structure. Among these features, a conjugation decreasing through the imine nitrogen atom of the benzimidazole core and a further resonance path crossing the carbamate one were described. At last, the X-ray powder diffractogram of a form C rich mebendazole mixture was overlaid to the calculated one with the mebendazole crystal structure. Oxygenated xanthones have been extensively investigated over the years, but there are few reports concerning their crystal structure. Our chemical investigations of Brazilian plants resulted in the isolation of four natural products named 1-hydroxyxanthone (I), 1-hydroxy-7-methoxyxanthone (II), 1,5-dihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone (III), and 1,7-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyxanthone (IV). The structures of these compounds were established on the basis of single crystal X-ray diffraction. The xanthone nucleus conformation is essentially planar with the substituents adopting the orientations less sterically hindered. In addition, classical intermolecular hydrogen bonds (O-H center dot center dot center dot O) present in III and IV give rise to infinite ribbons. However, the xanthone I does not present any intermolecular hydrogen bonds, meanwhile the xanthone II presents only a non-classical one (C-H center dot center dot center dot O). The crystal packing of all xanthone structures is also stabilized by pi-pi interactions. The fingerprint plots, derived from the Hirshfeld surfaces, exhibited significant features of each crystal structures.

A Simple way to improve solar cell efficiency is to enhance the absorption of light and reduce the shading losses. One of the main objectives for the photovoltaic roadmap is the reduction of metalized area on the front side of solar cell by fin lines. Industrial solar cell production uses screen-printing of metal pastes with a limit in line width of 70-80 μm. This paper will show a combination of the technique of laser grooved buried contact (LGBC) and Screen-printing is able to improve in fine lines and higher aspect ratio. Laser grooving is a technique to bury the contact into the surface of silicon wafer. Metallization is normally done with electroless or electrolytic plating method, which a high cost. To decrease the relative cost, more complex manufacturing process was needed, therefore in this project the standard process of buried contact solar cells has been optimized in order to gain a laser grooved buried contact solar cell concept with less processing steps. The laser scribing process is set at the first step on raw mono-crystalline silicon wafer. And then the texturing etch; phosphorus diffusion and SiNx passivation process was needed once. While simultaneously optimizing the laser scribing process did to get better results on screen-printing process with fewer difficulties to fill the laser groove. This project has been done to make the whole production of buried contact solar cell with fewer steps and could present a cost effective opportunity to solar cell industries.

Direct student-patient contacts, during the professional clinical placement of a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics course, were collected and analysed for the first time using a computerised method. In the final eight-week hospital placement, 26 dietetic students submitted data on direct patient contacts which included: dietetic activities (e.g. assessing, counselling and reviewing); the primary nutritional condition of the patient (e.g. type 2 diabetes and liver disease); and the time spent in contact with patients. The most common dietetic activities were reviews, followed by collection of dietary information and counselling. The most common nutritional condition encountered by students was an inadequate nutrient intake, followed by patients receiving enteral nutrition. Contact time with patients increased over the placement, with proportionately more time spent by students seeing patients independently than when being observed by supervising dietitians. The data collected provided valuable informa tion on the amount of time spent by students in direct patient contacts, the range of dietetic activities undertaken and the amount of time student activities were directly observed. This information will be useful in the development of benchmarks for clinical skill development, hospital and university staff planning and the assessment of the impact of any changes to the format of student placement experience in the clinical setting.

In stamping operations, the sliding of the sheet metal over the drawbeads is of great importance. The geometry of the drawbead and the degree of penetration both influence material flow and alter the frictional effects between the work and the tool. The effect of drawbead penetration over drawbeads has been studied using the Drawbead Simulator (DBS) test. The contact phenomenon between the sheet and drawbeads was analysed by examining deformed samples with an image fitting technique. The results were compared with an FE simulation and with an approximate geometric analysis. The results give a useful relationship between the rates of change of the contact angle with increasing bead penetration.

The unsymmetrical1y substituted diorganotellurium dihalides [2-(4,4'-N02C6H4CHNC6H3Me]RTeX2 (R = 4-MeOC6H4, X = Cl,
1a; Br, 1b; I, 1c; R =4-MeC6H4 ; X = Cl, 2; R =C6H5, X = Cl, 3) were prepared in good yields and characterized by solution and solid-state 125Te NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. In the solid-state, molecular structures of 1a and 1c possess scarcely observed 1,4-type intramolecular Te···N secondary interaction. Crystal packing of these compounds show an unusually rich diversity of intermolecular secondary, Te·· ·0, Te· .. \ and 1···1 interactions, Te·· ·π contacts as well as extensive
π-stacking of the organic substituents.

A theoretical analysis is presented for the estimation of the number of contacts between fibers in random multilayer nanofibrous assemblies with arbitrary fiber diameter and orientation. The statistics of fiber contacts for single-layer nanofiber mats were considered first, and the equations were developed for three-dimensional multilayer nanofibrous assemblies by considering the superposition of the single-layer assemblies. Based on the theoretical approach presented here for multilayer nanofibrous networks, the network porosity, mean fiber diameter and a function of fiber aspect ratio contribute to a model to determine the average number of fiber contacts per unit fiber length in multilayer nanofibrous mats. The theory is studied parametrically and results compared with the work of a model presented by Samson. It is shown that the presented model compared to the existing models is more sensitive with the fiber diameter in the nano-scale. It is also believed that the presented theory for fiber-to-fiber contacts is more realistic and useful for further studies of multilayer nanofibrous assemblies.
