The present essay aims at observing possible tendencies of normalization by the translator Irene Matthews in the translation to English from As mulheres de Tijucopapo, by Marilene Felinto. The methodology employed is that of corpus-based translation studies (proposed by BAKER, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000; SCOTTs study concerning normalization, 1998; and CAMARGOs research studies, 2005, 2007), and that of corpus linguistics (BERBER SARDINHAs studies, 2003, 2004). The investigation was carried out by means of a combination of semi-manual and computerized analyses using the computer software WordSmith Tools. Based on Scott (1998), we analyzed the translation of five words considered to be preferred by the author, as well as their co-text, in relation to three normalization features. The final results obtained in this study show that the translator Irene Matthews tends to use strategies that may be identified as features of normalization.

This paper aims at gathering evidences about the reception of Odorico Mendes Greek andRoman translations among his contemporaries. Some of the most celebrated lusophone writersof the 19th Century such as Joaquim Manoel de Macedo, Gonalves Dias and AntnioFeliciano de Castilho left us their reviews on the work of Mendes, the most productiveand controversial Brazilian translator of the time. The analysis of those data provides valuabledocuments of translation criticism that could constitute evidence of translation practices andmethods in an historical period in which Ancient Literature poetic translations were mostlyproduced.

The arguments about the limited participation of women in sports management and their encountered barriers are justified because there is a male domain and prejudice, resulting often the career waiver for these women. The profile of the sporting managers has found a predominance of men aged between 30-49 years old. For unavailability of articles, the present study was restricted to use only one database.
