Hyvinvointivaltion läpimurto : Pienviljelyhegemonian rapautumisen, kansalaisliikehdinnän ja poliittisen murroksen keskinäiset suhteet suomalaisessa yhteiskunnassa 1950-luvun loppuvuosina

A Breakthrough of Welfare State. The inter-relationships of the civic movement, political transformation, and eroding of a hegemony based on small scale farming in the Finnish society in the late 1950's. The unusually rapid and powerful structural change; the non-parliamentary civic movements of 1956 - 1963; and the left majority in the Finnish parliament between 1958 - 1962 all took place as the Finnish welfare state started to develop. The aim of my research is to analyse the inter-relationships of these processes. The research describes the way the former semi self-sufficient, semi-proletarian and labour-intensive form of production - a simple and discriminatory system in itself - made it possible for the majority of the population to survive through hard work. For some it even provided a possibility to prosper. The waning vitality of semi self-sufficiency and small scale agriculture triggered a political ferment and started a period of searching for something new. The process was so intense that it broke up most of the parties and tore down the old consensus that was based on the power of economic and political elite. The most crucial battle of the great transformation was waged over the nature of the state: Should we build a welfare state and construct social security systems, or should we revert to the old night watchman state and, for example, cancel the modest forms of redistribution of income carried out in the 1950's? The people joining the civic movements were either cottagers of the impoverishing countryside or, quite often, people who had come from the countryside and thus had grown up under conditions of some form of solidarity that included taking care of one's own family. The Finnish social insurance developed in the midst of a change in the structure of production of the society, and it became a compromise to satisfy the needs of both the waning society of small scale agriculture and the rising proletarian society based on wage labour. The hodgepodge of political schemes and use of power became a battle between different notions of the economy and the state; the distribution of national income; and the position of Finland in the international context. This battle created a shape of an interregnum - a period of transformation including two notions of society, two alternative paths for the future and the logic of a correctional move. The transformation of Finland from a poor developing country into a prosperous society has been praised as a success story. In 1956 - 1959, when the old form of governance based on the interests of small scale agriculture and wood processing industry was in decay, and when the future seemed uncertain, the projects to reduce social benefits and efforts to distribute national income even more unequally than before led to a powerful counter-movement by citizens and started an hegemonic change and a equal socia development.

Tutkimus käsittelee keskiajan suurinta harhaoppia katarismia Toulousin hiippakunnassa 1200-luvun ensimmäisellä puoliskolla. Tarkempi tutkimusalue on Lauragaisin maaseutu Toulousin ja Carcassonnen välissä. Alue oli Etelä-Ranskan katarismin sydänaluetta. Tutkimus käy läpi katarismin historian vuosina 1200 1245. Tuolloin se muuttui julkisesti siedetystä uskosta salassa harjoitettavaksi harhaopiksi. Erityisessä tarkkailussa ovat Lauragaisin kylät ja niiden asukkaiden suhde katarismiin. Tutkimus selvittää miten kiellettyihin kataarien tapaamisiin osallistuttiin Lauragaisissa ja kuinka suuri osa alueen väestöstä uskoi katarismiin. Tutkimus pohjautuu pitkälti Bernard de Caux n vuosien 1245 1246 inkvisition kuulustelujen rekisteriin, joka sisältää 5 471 lauragaisilaisen inkvisitiotunnustusen. Tarkempaan tarkasteluun on valittu seitsemän kylää ja niiden 1 069 inkvisitiotunnustusta. Niiden sisältämät tiedot on syötetty tutkimuksen apuna toimivaan relaatiotietokantaan. Kylien asukkaiden kuulusteluja on verrattu keskenään tietokannan avulla. Kuulustelujen perusteella on rekonstruoitu kataarien tapaamisia vuosina 1195 1245. Lisäksi tutkitaan tarkemmin katarismin toiminnan kannalta tärkeitä mekanismeja Saint-Martin-Lalanden kylässä. Tutkimuksen mukaan katarismi vetosi kaikkiin yhteiskuntaluokkiin kuuluneisiin ihmisiin. Sukusiteillä ja Lauragaisin kylien asukkaiden keskinäisellä solidaarisuudella oli suuri merkitys katarismin säilymisessä, kun harhaoppi yritettiin tukahduttaa. Inkvisitiot onnistuivat murtamaan kylien sisäisen solidaarisuuden 1240-luvulla. Tutkimuksen keskeisin tulos on arvion esittäminen katarismiin uskoneiden maallikoiden lukumäärästä. Noin kymmenesosa Lauragaisin aikuisväestöstä oli aktiivisia kataariuskovia. Jopa kaksi viidesosaa alueen asukkaista oli jossain elämänsä vaiheessa osallistunut kataarien kiellettyihin uskonnollisiin tilaisuuksiin. Katarismiin uskoneiden ja siihen kosketuksissa olleiden ihmisten määrä on keskeinen tieto, kun arvioidaan katolisen kirkon harhaopin vastaisia toimia. Katarismin tuhoamiseksi julistettiin 20 vuotta kestänyt ristiretki. Inkvisitiolta kului sen jälkeen vielä 90 vuotta katarismin tuhoamiseen. Katarismi oli merkittävä harhaoppi, koska se vetosi kiellettynäkin huomattavaan osaan Lauragaisin väestöstä.

Synthesis and x-ray crystal structure of a CuII-theophylline complex: [Cu(theo)2 (H2O)3]·2H2O

The complex [Cu-II (theo)(2)(H2O)(3)].2H(2)O (theo = theophylline) was obtained from aqueous solution. The crystals belong to the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/n, and are reflection twins about the (001) face. The structure was solved using data from a twinned crystal and refined to final R and R(W) values of 0.069 and 0.064, respectively. Copper has a square-pyramidal coordination with two thee molecules coordinating through N(7) at equatorial positions. The remaining sites are occupied by water molecules. O(6) of one of the thee molecules is at the other axial site at a longer distance of 3.18 Angstrom. This could lead to an alternate (4+1+1) octahedral coordination geometry for Cu-II. The packing is stabilized by stacking interactions between the theophylline moieties at an average separation of 3.46 Angstrom.

Organometallic Chemistry of Diphosphazanes. 11. Reactions of fac-[Mo(CO)3(MeCN){.eta.2-Ph2PN(Pri)PPh(DMP)}] (DMP = 3,5-Dimethyl-1-Pyrazolyl) with Diphosphazanes and Diphosphinoalkanes and Oxidative Addition with Iodine

The use of fac-[Mo(CO)(3)(MeCN)(eta(2)-L(1))] (1a) {L(1) = Ph(2)PN(Pr-i)PPh(DMP)}(2) as a precursor to metalloligands and bimetallic, heterotrimetallic, and heptacoordinated complexes is reported. The reaction of 1a with diphosphazane, dppa, or a diphosphinoalkane such as dppm or dppe yields the fac-eta(1)-diphosphine substituted metalloligands, fac-[Mo(CO)(3)(eta(2)-L(1))(eta(1)-PXP)] {PXP = dppa (2), dppm (3), and dppe (4)}. These undergo isomerization to yield the corresponding mer-diphosphine complexes (5-7). Oxidation of the uncoordinated phosphorus atom of the mer-eta(1)-dppm-substituted complex eventually provides mer-[Mo(CO)(3)-(eta(2)-L(1)){eta(1)-Ph(2)PCH(2)P(O)Ph(2)}](8). The structure of the latter complex has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction {triclinic system, P ($) over bar 1; a = 11.994(3), b = 14.807(2), c = 15.855(3) Angstrom; alpha = 114.24(1), beta = 91.35(2), and gamma = 98.95(1)degrees; Z = 2, 4014 data (F-0 > 5 sigma(F-0)), R = 0.066, R(W) = 0.069}. Treatment of the dppe metalloligand 7 with [PtCl2(COD)] yields the heterotrimetallic complex cis-[PtCl2{mer-[Mo(CO)(3)(eta(2)-L(1))(eta(1)-dppe]}(2)] (9). Attempts to prepare a related trimetallic complex with the dppm-containing metalloligand were unsuccessful; only the tetracarbonyl complex cis-[Mo(CO)(4)(eta(2)-L(1))] (1b) and cis-[PtCl2(eta(2)-dppm)] were obtained. Reaction of la with dppe in the ratio 2:1 yields the mer-mer dinuclear complex [{mer-[Mo(CO)(3)(eta(2)-L(1))]}(2)(mu-dppe)] (10) bridged by dppe. Oxidation of 1a with iodine yields the Mo(II) heptacoordinated complex [MoI2(CO)(2)(eta(3)-L(1))] (11) with tridentate PPN coordination. The same Mo(II) complex 11 is also obtained by the direct oxidation of the tetracarbonyl complex cis-[Mo(CO)(4)(eta(2)-L(1))] (1b) with iodine. The structure of 11 has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies {monoclinic system, Cc; a = 10.471(2), b = 19.305(3), c = 17.325(3) Angstrom; beta = 95.47(2)degrees; Z = 4, 3153 data (F-0 > 5 sigma(F-0)), R = 0.049, R(W) = 0.051}. This complex exhibits an unusual capped-trigonal prismatic geometry around the metal. A similar heptacoordinated complex 12 with a chiral diphosphazane ligand {L(3) = (S,R)-P(h)2PN-(*CHMePh)*PPh(DMP)} has also been synthesized.

Unusual ribose conformation in a ternary copper(II) 2?deoxyribonucleotide complex

The ternary metal deoxyribonucleotide complex [Cu(bzim)(5?-dGMP)(H2O)3](bzim = benzimidazole, 5?-dGMP = 2?-deoxyguanosine 5?-monophosphate) has been prepared and the structure analysed by X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the space group P1 with a= 7.069(6), b= 13.959(10), c= 14.204(12)Å, ?= 75.12(6), ?= 94.15(6), ?= 97.98(6)° and Z= 2. The structure was solved by the heavy-atom method and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures on the basis of 2813 observed [I[gt-or-equal] 3?(I)] reflections to final R and R? values of 0.050 and 0.052 respectively. There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit and both copper(II) centres have square-pyramidal co-ordination geometry. An unusual feature of the structure is the co-ordination of the metal by N(7) of the base, in the presence of a ?-aromatic amine, bzim. The structure is stabilized by intermolecular base�bzim stacking. The nucleotides of both the molecules have an anti conformation about the glycosyl bond, and a gauche-gauche conformation about the C(4?)�C(5?) bond. A feature of particular interest is the unusual sugar conformation. The base furanose rings of the two nucleotide molecules adopt C(3?)-exo/C(2?)-endo pucker and C(3?)-exo pucker respectively.

Three phase equilibria for activity determinations: system Co Mn

A solid state e.m.f. cell with yttria-doped thoria as the electrolyte and a mixture of Cr + Cr sub 2 O sub 3 as the reference electrode, was employed for the measurement of the activity of manganese in the Co--Mn system at 1760 deg K, for 0.3 > X sub Mn > 0.05. The liquid alloy was contained in an alumina crucible and saturated with MnAl sub 2+2x O sub 4+3x . The cell can be represented by Pt, W, (Co--Mn) + MnAl sub 2+2x O sub 4+3x + Al sub 2 O sub 3 /ThO sub 2 --Y sub 2 O sub 3 /Cr + Cr sub 2 O sub 3 , Pt. The activity of manganese shows negative deviations from Raoult's law. The activities in the Co--Mn system are intermediate between those in the Fe--Mn and Ni--Mn systems. The Gibbs' energies of mixing in these systems follow the trends given by Miedema's model. 14 ref.--AA.

The γ-brass structure and the Boerdijk–Coxeter helix

The γ-brass structure was for a long time regarded as a modified bcc structure. It is more accurately described in terms of a 26-atom cluster consisting of four interpenetrating icosahedral clusters. An alternative description in terms of a 38-atom cluster is also illuminating. We discuss the γ-brass structure in terms of the packing of spheres and the packing of ‘almost regular’ tetrahedra and demonstrate a close relationship to the helical sphere packings investigated by Boerdijk, who considered the configuration of touching spheres centred at the vertices of a Coxeter helix, and extended it by adding an extra layer of spheres. Adding a further layer of spheres gives a rod-like structure in which every sphere of the original helix is surrounded by twelve others, configured as a somewhat distorted icosahedron. Thus each tetrahedron of the initial structure is then shared by four icosahedra. This 26-sphere cluster is a slightly distorted form of the 26-atom γ-brass cluster.

Thermodynamic Data for Mn3O4, Mn2O3 and MnO2

Thermodynamic properties of Mn3O4, Mn2O3 and MnO2 are reassessed based on new measurements and selected data from the literature. Data for these oxides are available in most thermodynamics compilations based on older calorimetric measurements on heat capacity and enthalpy of formation, and high-temperature decomposition studies. The older heat capacity measurements did not extend below 50 K. Recent measurements have extended the low temperature limit to 5 K. A reassessment of thermodynamic data was therefore undertaken, supplemented by new measurements on high temperature heat capacity of Mn3O4 and oxygen chemical potential for the oxidation of MnO1-x, Mn3O4, and Mn2O3 to their respective higher oxides using an advanced version of solid-state electrochemical cell incorporating a buffer electrode. Because of the high accuracy now achievable with solid-state electrochemical cells, phase-equilibrium calorimetry involving the ``third-law'' analysis has emerged as a competing tool to solution and combustion calorimetry for determining the standard enthalpy of formation at 298.15 K. The refined thermodynamic data for the oxides are presented in tabular form at regular intervals of temperature.

Knowledge-Based Approach Using Support Vector Machine for Transmission Line Distance Relay Co-ordination

In this paper, knowledge-based approach using Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are used for estimating the coordinated zonal settings of a distance relay. The approach depends on the detailed simulation studies of apparent impedance loci as seen by distance relay during disturbance, considering various operating conditions including fault resistance. In a distance relay, the impedance loci given at the relay location is obtained from extensive transient stability studies. SVMs are used as a pattern classifier for obtaining distance relay co-ordination. The scheme utilizes the apparent impedance values observed during a fault as inputs. An improved performance with the use of SVMs, keeping the reach when faced with different fault conditions as well as system power flow changes, are illustrated with an equivalent 265 bus system of a practical Indian Western Grid.

Dielectric relaxations above room temperature in DMPU derived polyaniline film

Dielectric measurements carried out on drop casted from solution of emeraldine base form of polyaniline films in the temperature range 30-300 degrees C revealed occurrence of two maxima in the loss tangent as a function of temperature. The activation energies corresponding to these two relaxation processes were found to be similar to 0.5 eV and similar to 1.5 eV. The occurrence of one relaxation peak in the dispersion curve of the imaginary part of the electric modulus suggests the absence of microphase separation in the film. Thermogravimetric analysis and infrared spectroscopic measurements showed that the films retained its integrity up to 300 degrees C. The dielectric relaxation at higher temperatures with large activation energy of 1.5 eV is attributed to increase in the barrier potential due to decrease in the polymer conjugation as a result of wide amplitude motion of the chain segments well above the glass transition temperature. Structural, EPR, optical and magnetic properties of alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles

alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized by a low temperature solution combustion method. The structural, magnetic and luminescence properties were studied. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) pattern of alpha-Fe2O3 exhibits pure rhombohedral structure. SEM micrographs reveal the dumbbell shaped particles. The EPR spectrum shows an intense resonance signal at g approximate to 5.61 corresponding to isolated Fe3+ ions situated in axially distorted sites, whereas the g approximate to 2.30 is due to Fe3+ ions coupled by exchange interaction. Raman studies show A(1g) (225 cm(-1)) and E-g (293 and 409 cm(-1)) phonon modes. The absorption at 300 nm results from the ligand to metal charge transfer transitions whereas the 540 nm peak is mainly due to the (6)A(1) + (6)A(1) —> T-4(1)(4G) + T-4(1)(4G) excitation of an Fe3+-Fe3+ pair. A prominent TL glow peak was observed at 140 C at heating rate of 5 degrees C s(-1). Boosting Higgs CP properties via VH production at the Large Hadron Collider

We consider ZH and WH production at the Large Hadron Collider, where the Higgs decays to a b (b) over bar pair. We use jet substructure techniques to reconstruct the Higgs boson and construct angular observables involving leptonic decay products of the vector bosons. These efficiently discriminate between the tensor structure of the HVV vertex expected in the Standard Model and that arising from possible new physics, as quantified by higher dimensional operators. This can then be used to examine the CP nature of the Higgs as well as CP mixing effects in the HZZ and HWW vertices separately. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V.

Antiproliferative and tumor inhibitory studies of 2,3 disubstituted 4-thiazolidinone derivatives

4-Thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized using T3P (R)-DMSO media as a cyclodehydrating agent. All the molecules were tested for their cytotoxicity against leukemic cell lines. The compound 3-(4-bromophenyl)-2-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)thiazolidin-4-one (4e) with electron donating substituent at para position of phenyl ring displayed considerable cytotoxicity against Reh and Nalm6 cells with an IC50 value of 11.9 and 13.5 mu M, respectively. Furthermore, the compound 4e tested for tumor regression studies induced by EAC in Swiss albino mouse. Both in vitro and in vivo results suggested significant antiproliferative activity of compound 4e in Reh cells and mouse tumor tissue treated with compound 4e showed multifocal areas of necrosis and numerous number of apoptotic cells. Evaluación de adaptabilidad de doce variedades de papa (Solanum tuberosum L) y su tolerancia al tizón tardío (Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary) en Santa Rosa, Jinotega

El objetivo del presente trabajo consistió en la evaluación de la adaptabilidad de 12 variedad es de papa (Solanum tuberosum L) y su tolerancia a Tizón Tardío (Phytophthora infestans Mont. De Bary). El ensayo se estableció el 8 de Febrero en la comunidad Santa Rosa Departamento de Jinotega, utilizándose un diseño de bloques completo al azar (BCA),con cuatro repeticiones a las que se les dio un seguimiento continuo para la recopilación de los datos a evaluar posteriormente. Los datos obtenidos en campo fueron analizados con el programa estadístico SAS. Las variedades evaluados fueron: Picasso, Amorosa, Sante, Fontane, Kuroda, Provento, Kónsul, Arnova, Arinda, Sinora, Roko y Papanica como testigo. Las variables evaluadas fueron: Incidencia a Tizón tardío en donde las variedades Papanica presento 67.5, Provento 75, Konsul 77.5, Roko 82, y Sante 82.5 porciento a los 55 DDS con respecto a las demás variedades; porcentaje de incidencia con respecto a las demás variedades; Porcentaje de severidad del área foliar infestada las variedades anteriormente mencionadas mostraron a los 82DDS 90.5, 79.5, 66.5, 94, 96 porciento. Lesión al tallo las variedades Provento, Sinora y Papanica tuvieron a los 80 DDS el grado 1 con respecto a la escala utilizada. Dentro de las plagas foliares las variedades Fontane, y kuroda obtuvieron como promedio 14 afidos por planta a los 37 DDS y las variedades Amorosa, Sante y Fontane obtuvieron como promedio 2 moscas por plantas a los 63 y 78 DDS. En cuanto a la Incidencia de virus no se encontró significancia estadística en los tratamientos evaluados en las diferentes fechas. Una vez realizado el análisis de varianza se encontró que la variedad Provento ocupa el mayor rendimiento en la categoría rendimiento de primera y segunda con 5.75 y 2.04 t ha-1. En la tercera categoría las variedades Papanica y Arinda mostraron alto rendimiento con 1.04 y 0.96 t ha-1. El análisis económico refleja que las variedades Provento, Sante y Papanica obtuvieron un beneficio neto de 4,069; 12,429 y 8201 C$/ha.

Prevalencia de brucelosis en bovinos de los departamentos de Boaco, Chontales y Matagalpa

Con el propósito de diagnosticar la prevalencia de la Brucelosis bovina en los departamentos de Boaco, Chontales y Matagalpa, durante los meses de Septiembre, Octubre y Noviembre de 1977, se realizaron pruebas de seroaglutinacion en placas sobre un total de 195 fincas visitadas en los tres departamentos. Los datos del estudio obedecen a una muestra de 14,542 sueros extraídos de una poblacion aproximada de 1,069,685 vacunos existentes en los tres departamentos. Con esta muestra se encontraron reacciones serologicas positivas a Brucelosis, equivalentes al 5.2% con la prueba de seroaglutinacion rápida en placas y utilizando 50 y 100 unidades internacionales. Los resultados demostraron que existe una diferencia de 2.76% entre el promedio nacional de 2.44% que se utilizo como base para las estimaciones u los datos obtenidos. Las pruebas serologicas para el diagnostico de prevalencia de Brucelosis, señalaron que en el 76.7% de las fincas visitadas se encontró por lo menos un animal infectado, demostrando el mayor indice el departamento de Chontales. Esto demuestra que la enfermedad se encuentra ampliamente diseminada en los tres departamentos muestreados. La tasa mas elevada de prevalencia, se encontró en el Departamento de Matagalpa (6.6%). Sin embargo, ninguno de los indicadores llego al 10%, lo cual significa que los niveles de infección son bajos, de acuerdo al criterio tecnico de los expertos en brucelosis FAO/OMS. Las perdidas economicas causadas por la Brucelosis en los tres departamentos se calcularon en C 17,865.890. Esto representa un valor significativo en la economía nacional y la erradicación de esta zoonosis debe ser prioritaria dentro de los programas de sanidad animal.
