Alternatives per a la generació de cartografia temàtica en entorn web relativa a vigilància epidemiològica

El propósito de este proyecto es proporcionar una herramienta relacionada con los sistemas de información cartográfica (SIG) para lograr detectar posibles anomalías y alteraciones en los patrones de aparición y contagio de enfermedades en un ámbito poblacional.

Semantic web adoption: online tools for web evaluation and metadata extraction

This work briefly analyses the difficulties to adopt the Semantic Web, and in particular proposes systems to know the present level of migration to the different technologies that make up the Semantic Web. It focuses on the presentation and description of two tools, DigiDocSpider and DigiDocMetaEdit, designed with the aim of verifYing, evaluating, and promoting its implementation.

Fuentes de información digitales en los centros de documentación de prensa: recursos web gratuitos.

Se describe en primer lugar el contexto de la utilización de las fuentes de información externas digitales en los centros de documentación de los medios de comunicación de prensa escrita. A continuación se presentan y comentan los resultados de una encuesta realizada entre los principales medios españoles sobre la utilización de recursos web gratuitos. Por último, se analizan brevemente los recursos seleccionados.

Búsqueda federada en el ecosistema de la e-ciencia: el caso Science Research

Se analiza el buscador Science Research en el contexto de la e-ciencia y de la búsqueda federada en comparación con la indización y la recolección. Se pone en relación también con otros buscadores académicos, especialmente Scirus y Google Scholar. Se realiza un análisis de los diversos componentes de Science Research y un estudio comparativo de obtención de resultados.

Supporting interdisciplinary case studies: development and implementation of a joint learning environment for students in forensic science and criminal law

Scientific reporting and communication is a challenging topic for which traditional study programs do not offer structured learning activities on a regular basis. This paper reports on the development and implementation of a web application and associated learning activities that intend to raise the awareness of reporting and communication issues among students in forensic science and law. The project covers interdisciplinary case studies based on a library of written reports about forensic examinations. Special features of the web framework, in particular a report annotation tool, support the design of various individual and group learning activities that focus on the development of knowledge and competence in dealing with reporting and communication challenges in the students' future areas of professional activity.

Challenges and opportunities for science journalists in adopting new technologies: the case of Spain = Retos y oportunidades para los periodistas científicos en la adopción de las nuevas tecnologías: el caso de España

This paper analyses the adoption of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) by Spanish journalists specialising in science. Applying an ethnographic research model, this study was based on a wide sample of professionals, aiming to evaluate the extent by which science journalists have adopted the new media and changed the way they use information sources. In addition, interviewees were asked whether in their opinion the Web 2.0 has had an impact on the quality of the news. The integration of formats certainly implies a few issues for today’s newsrooms. Finally, with the purpose of improving the practice of science information dissemination, the authors put forward a few proposals, namely: Increasing the training of Spanish science journalists in the field of new technologies; Emphasising the accuracy of the information and the validation of sources; Rethinking the mandates and the tasks of information professionals.

MeteoCAT : Visor web SIG de dades meteorològiques

El projecte consisteix en la creació d'un visor web SIG de dades meteorològiques. Esta eina permetrà els usuaris accedir a una web on podran consultar i visualitzar diferents dades cartogràfiques i meteorològiques. A més a més, podran superposar en un mapa diferents conjunts de dades a analitzar, facilitant per tant la feina dels meteoròlegs. Es podrà també accedir a dades de diferents dates i visualitzar un històric de la situació del clima, facilitant la tasca de crear models històrics i permetent veure com ha evolucionat el clima al llarg del temps.

Usabilidad en sitios web orientados al comercio electrónico y a los servicios: www.renfe.com

Este trabajo evalúa la usabilidad de la web de Renfe, comparándola con sitios de características similares, particularmente en Francia y Alemania. Para este análisis se efectúa un test de usuario con personas enmarcadas dentro de las características de los usuarios potenciales.
