A glassy carbon electrode was pretreated electrochemically and was coated with a copolymer of maleic acid anhydride attached with Eastman-AQ55D (MA/AQ). The voltammetric behavior of a series of biologically important compounds, such as dopamine, L-DOPA, D

The excimer fluorescence of a triblock copolymer, styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) containing 48 wt% polystyrene was used to investigate its miscibility with poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME). The excimer-to-monomer emission intensity ratio I(M)/I(E) can be used as a sensitive probe to determine the miscibility level in SBS/PVME blends: I(M)/I(E) is a function of PVME concentration, and reaches a maximum when the blend contains 60% PVME. The cloud point curve determined by light scattering shows a pseudo upper critical solution temperature diagram, which can be attributed to the effect of PB segments in SBS. The thermally induced phase separation of SBS/PVME blends can be observed by measuring I(M)/I(E), and the phase dissolution process was followed by measuring I(M)/I(E) at different times.

The structure of the radiation graft copolymer of acrylic acid onto EVA has been studied by infrared spectroscopy and XPS. It was found that along with the main peak C there is a photoelectron peak at 288.5 eV attributed to [GRAPHICS] group in XPS spectra and the content of its area in XPS increases with increasing of grafting degree of EVA. It was also found that hydrophilicity of EVA increases with the increase of grafting degree.

The compatibility and crystallization behaviour of the mixtures of poly (tetrahydrofuran-methyl methacrylate) diblock copolymer (PTHF-b-PMMA) with polyvinyl chloride has been studied. We found that the compatibility of these blends, in which there is special interaction between the homopolymer and the PMMA block of the copolymer, is much better than that of the AB/A type blends; and that the crystallization rate and crystallinity of PTHF microdomain changed greatly due to the swollen by PVC homopolymer. In this paper, these changes in cryatallization are well explained according to the theories of block copolymer blends and the density gradient model presented by JIANG Ming.

The viscosities of polystyrene-b-poly (ethylene/propylene) diblock copolymer in mixed solvent of n-octane and benzene were measured. The influences of the constitution of the mixed solvent, temperature and concentration were on the viscosity investigated. During the micellization the solution viscosity increases rapidly. The results are consistent with the study on the micellization by light scattering. The average mass of micelleswas measured and the hydrodynamic radius of gyrations were calculated.

In this work, the radiation-induced structural changes in the copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene (F-40) were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). During irradiation, some CF2 groups in the polymer were found to have been converted into carbon structures that bonded indirectly with fluorine atoms.

The gel content of crosslinked perfluoroethylene-propylene copolymer was obtained by extraction with fluoro-chloro oil. It was then treated by the Charlesby-Pinner equation. The results obtained revealed that both the gelation dose and the ratio of fracture to crosslinking density decreased with increasing irradiation temperature.

The substituent chemical shift (SCS) has been applied to the assignment of the C-13 NMR spectrum of chlorinated polyethylene (CPE). CPE of different chlorine contents has been employed and their sequence structure discussed. The results show that characteristic of CPE with medium chlorine content is the dichloroethane structure in molecular chain. SCS parameters have been obtained from the C-13 NMR spectra. It was found that the effects of chlorine content and temperature on SCS are negligible, but the substituent parameter S1 reduced by 0.39 ppm when C2Cl4 was added to solvent ODCB.

The radiation-induced loss of weight of F-46 was found to be proportional to irradiation dose and affected markedly by irradiation temperature.

In this work the radiation-induced structural changes in F-46 were studied by XPS. In carbon-1s spectra of a highly crosslinked F-46 sheet, the slight increase observed in relative area under the peak due to CF3 was explained by the radiation-induced scission of polymer chains. The peak at 287.6 eV appearing in the spectra caused by ionizing radiation was attributed to carbon structures without primary fluorine substituents, in both branching and unsaturated structures, while that at 289.3 eV was assigned to = CF groups in mid-chain double bonds.

The effect of micelle on crystallization behaviour of dilute poly(methyl methacrylate-b-tetrahydrofuran) diblock copolymer/tetrahydrofuran homopolymer, dilute poly (ethylene-b-styrene-b-ethylene) triblock copolymer/ethylene homopolymer solutions has been studied. The results show that with the structural teansitions from spherical to nonspherical micelle in the blends, great changes in the nucleation and spherulite morphologies take place.
