In this work, we propose methodologies and computer tools to insert robots in cultural environments. The basic idea is to have a robot in a real context (a cultural space) that can represent an user connected to the system through Internet (visitor avatar in the real space) and that the robot also have its representation in a Mixed Reality space (robot avatar in the virtual space). In this way, robot and avatar are not simply real and virtual objects. They play a more important role in the scenery, interfering in the process and taking decisions. In order to have this service running, we developed a module composed by a robot, communication tools and ways to provide integration of these with the virtual environment. As welI we implemented a set of behaviors with the purpose of controlling the robot in the real space. We studied available software and hardware tools for the robotics platform used in the experiments, as welI we developed test routines to determine their potentialities. Finally, we studied the behavior-based control model, we planned and implemented alI the necessary behaviors for the robot integration to the real and virtual cultural spaces. A disponibilidade do Si pelo silicato de Ca poderá aumentar a formação de polifenóis, os quais tornariam possível a maior persistência dos resíduos culturais em superfície. Com esse intuito, procurou-se avaliar a ação do silicato e do calcário na decomposição de diferentes resíduos culturais e a liberação de nutrientes para o desenvolvimento do feijoeiro. O delineamento experimental empregado foi o de blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 3 x 5, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram constituídos de três espécies de plantas de cobertura: milheto (Pennisetum americanum), braquiária (Brachiaria brizantha) e guandu-anão (Cajanus cajan L.) e cinco níveis proporcionais de silicato de cálcio: 0, 25, 50, 75 e 100 %, aplicado nas doses crescentes de 0, 2,31, 4,63, 6,96 e 9,27 g/vaso, respectivamente, balanceadas com carbonato de cálcio e carbonato de magnésio, de forma que as quantidades de Ca e Mg em cada tratamento fossem iguais, calculados para atingir uma saturação por bases no solo de 70 %. A aplicação de silicato de Ca não interferiu na decomposição do resíduo cultural de braquiária, guandu e milheto. O teor de Mg disponível no solo foi reduzido pela aplicação de silicato de Ca, o que induz menor absorção pelas plantas de cobertura e eventual disponibilização após sua decomposição. O crescimento do feijoeiro foi favorecido pela aplicação de silicato de Ca, sendo as doses de 2,31 e 6,95 g/vaso de silicato com o resíduo cultural de braquiária os tratamentos que apresentaram maior eficiência.

The purpose of this research is to approach the English literary text from the point of view of the culture and the heterogeneity of discourse in its role as a source of elements that facilitate the teaching/learning process of English as a foreign language. Several instances of discourse heterogeneity are analyzed through cultural references in the original texts of the following English novels: Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855), published in 1847; The Mill on the Floss, by George Eliot (1819-1890), published in 1860 and Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens (1812-1870), published between 1860 and 1861. Theoretical support was sought in Kramsch, Bakhtin, Maingueneau, Authier-Revuz, Widdowson and Larsen-Freeman. Activities in English are proposed in the end whereby it can be seen that the questions at issue can be used extensively in the classroom.

Recently, Brazilian scientific production has increased greatly, due to demands for productivity from scientific agencies. However, this high increases requires a more qualified production, since it s essential that publications are relevant and original. In the psychological field, the assessment scientific journals of the CAPES/ANPEPP Commission had a strong effect on the scientific community and raised questions about the chosen evaluation method. Considering this impact, the aim of this research is a meta-analysis on the assessment of Psychological journals by CAPES to update the Qualis database. For this research, Psychology scientific editors (38 questionnaires were applied by e-mail) were consulted, also 5 librarians who work with scientific journals assessment (semi-structured interviews) and 8 members who acted as referees in the CAPES/ANPEPP Commission (open questions were sent by e-mail). The results are shown through 3 analysis: general evaluation of the Qualis process (including the Assessment Committee constitution), evaluation criteria used in the process and the effect of the evaluation on the scientific community (changes on the editing scene included). Some important points emerged: disagreement among different actors about the suitability of this evaluation model; the recognition of the improvement of scientific journals, mainly toward normalization and diffusion; the verification that the model does not point the quality of the journal, i.e., the content of the scientific articles published in the journal; the disagreement with the criteria used, seemed necessary and useful but needed to be discussed and cleared between the scientific community. Despite these points, the scientific journals evaluation still is the main method to assure quality for Psychology publications

Having as reference the fundamentals of regional innovation systems (RIS) and the policy guidelines defined in the regionalization program implemented by the federal government, this study focus on the analysis of the so-called "Landmark Region", northern coast of Polo Costa das Dunas-RN, in order to indicate how the historical and cultural resources can support innovation in the tourism of the region, represented here by the cities of Pedra Grande and São Miguel do Gostoso. This is a descriptive research, using qualitative methods of data collection and analysis, configuring, still, as a case study. Data were gathered from literature, documents, semi-structured interviews and mainly by participant observation methods. The results show a great diversity of cultural resources in the region, both material and immaterial, which however are disarticulated, and need to be worked in order to be included in the tourism productive chain. The main opportunity for innovation regards the return of the Landmark to the region, an invaluable monument, with the construction of a memorial. Taking in account the relevance of the monument and the growth of the region, we conclude that the return of the Landmark to its place of origin, in conjunction with other cultural resources, could attract a flow of cultural tourists. This fact could be, as the theory suggests, characterized as market or niche innovation, as the region is dominated by the sun and sea and wind sports tourism

A tessitura deste trabalho abarca os traços da Biologia presentes em duas obras infanto-juvenis de Monteiro Lobato. Os entendimentos acerca dos traços biológicos como evolução, seleção natural, tamanho, classificação e organização natural se hibridizam, mesclam-se a outros discursos e significados e apontam relações e significações que se dão entre os espaços - diferenças - dos múltiplos conhecimentos. Ao reconhecer que a Biologia participa dessa Literatura, construiu-se um olhar para seus significados que são (re)criados em relação às diferenças, não funcionando como decalque, cópia de um campo cultural único ou suposto como original. Ao migrar para o texto, os significados culturais desses traços biológicos expandem o campo da escritura por uma interrupção e um espaçamento. Investigaram-se as relações de diferenças que se estabelecem entre Literatura e Biologia, e a intensidade das narrativas que trazem traços de crenças, valores, interesses políticos no discurso científico, e que são arrastados para a Literatura, num trajeto híbrido e nômade.

Este artigo analisa a persistência da marginalização e da exclusão social apesar da pretensa democratização da informação que estaria sendo viabilizada pela introdução de novas tecnologias nos meios de comunicação de massa, nas escolas e nos currículos escolares. Essas novas tecnologias (TV, vídeos, computadores conectados à Internet), tendo sido apropriadas pela Indústria Cultural, continuam produzindo analfabetos e os chamados analfabetos funcionais bem como, mais recentemente, os analfabetos ponto com. Tais recursos não vêm resultando em maior conhecimento e participação dos indivíduos nas decisões políticas e nos bens socio-culturais que ficam restritos a uma pequena minoria, a qual se poderia chamar pelo substantivo cidadão. A tentativa de superação dos modismos pedagógicos, buscando uma educação crítica e criativa em direção a objetivos emancipadores, é tarefa ainda a ser realizada.

A literatura revela que, embora a população jovem possua suficiente conhecimento sobre métodos contraceptivos, é baixa a frequência de sua utilização. Este estudo investigou características do uso de preservativos e possíveis variáveis controladoras desse comportamento em estudantes com idade entre 13 e 18 anos. Foi utilizado um questionário estruturado, cujos resultados sugerem que: (1) os adolescentes demonstram seguir regras que mantêm o comportamento de não usar o preservativo; (2) os pais ou responsáveis não controlam punitivamente esse comportamento; (3) os serviços de saúde são pouco reforçadores para o esclarecimento de dúvidas sobre sexualidade e para a obtenção de preservativos. São analisadas influências de história individual e de práticas culturais sobre os resultados.

The experiments were conducted during two years (1990/91 and 1992/93), to study the effects of the incorporation of bengal velvetbean and of residues on the development and yield of the winter bean crops. The trial was developed in experimental field at the Faculdade de Engenharia de Ilha Solteira, UNESP, located in Selvíria, MS, Brazil, in dark red latosol covered by savanna vegetation. It was concluded that: the incorporation of residues of corn or corn + bengal velvetbean or only bengal velvetbean had no effects on soil chemical characteristics, evaluated 80 days after the residues incorporation; in yield and bean crop development, no statistical differences were observed among treatments.

The contemporaneous culture presents new con ditions of interaction with the information flows in the knowledge construction. Multidimensional codifications stimulate the brain and impress meaning to concepts initially empty. Culture is redefined as mosaic-culture, composed by a diversity of media and by immersion in the messages' sphere. In emerge nt countries like Brazil that propose to capacitate citizens for action and for interaction, the aims should imply the respect to the cultural specificities and in the real improvement of the citizens welfare. Information Science in this context must seek theorizations and practices that contribute to social improvements, capacitating and a better understanding of the challenges of Social Web. If the PISA examination demonstrates the County's frailness relating to the information, the 2011 Unicef report point to opportunities. The Universities have an essential role in the capacitating and in the creation of professional contingents, developing their own potentialities in the study, research and knowledge production for a better use of the Information and Communication Technologies. The man-machinery interfaces offer new problems to be dealt together with the literacy lags in Brazil: if information needs to be communicated to re-elaborate in knowledge, its representational supports need to be learnt as technological processes. Implementing informational ambiences studies will produce material for analyses, for the understanding and for the cultural practices importation, converting them to the contextualization of the Country's needs.
